Jay, Summer, Dylan and their bandmates are headed to RockWar Manor. But the rock star life of music festivals and glitzy premieres isn't all it's cracked up to be. Can the bands hold it together to make it through to the last stage of the competition?
Robert Muchamore was born in Islington, London in 1972. He still lives there, and worked as a private investigator up until 2005 and the critically-accepted release of Maximum Security.
The Hunger Games phenomenon is part of the huge YA / Children's book explosion that has grown, thanks to the British Rat pack of YA authors, Anthony Horowitz, Robert Muchamore, Mark A. Cooper and Charlie Higson. We owe much of the hunger games sucess to authors such as Robert.
Robert was inspired to create the CHERUB series by his nephew after he complained about the lack of anything for them to read. CHERUB: The Recruit was Robert's first book and won the Red House Children's Book Award 2005 in the Older Readers Category.
Following the last book in the CHERUB series, it was revealed that a trilogy would be released starting from August 2011 that will focus on a new set of CHERUB agents centred upon Ryan Sharma and also involve an sixteen year old Lauren Adams. The first book will be called People's Republic.
Check out the Hendersons Boys series. Henderson's Boys is a series of young adult spy novels written by English author Robert Muchamore. The series follows Charles Henderson, the creator of the fictitious CHERUB organisation. CHERUB is currently being made into a TV series.
It is not as goods CHERUB or the Alex Rider & Jason Steed series. I can see why they never wrote a book 3. I would not recommend, it was entertaining but I have better books in my TO-BE-READ list I should have read first.
2 ⭐️ — First off… I gotta be honest. I accidentally started on book TWO. Library was closed, they packing up books, this was all I had — and I thought it was book one. That’s on me. 😭
🍷❝ Sometimes the slump is waiting for you. Sometimes you walk straight into it. ❞
𓂃˖˳· Loud, chaotic, and wildly unrealistic ·˖𓂃
The idea isn’t terrible: teenagers thrown into a music reality TV show, pressure everywhere, chaos nonstop. Sounds cool in theory. In reality? This book was doing too much.
🫂 I tried to lock in. I really did. And thanks to my elite reading skills (I am HIMOTHY), I didn’t fully slump… but man, it was close.
📚❝ Just because something is intense doesn’t mean it’s believable. ❞
The biggest problem is how unrealistic everything feels. The way the characters act? The choices they make? The drama? It’s so over-the-top that I couldn’t take it seriously.
🐶 And look — I don’t judge behavior lightly. People who know my story know that. But THIS book? I judged. I judged HARD. Some of the stuff these characters do is just weird behavior. Like… what are we doing here?
🍒 The chaos never really settles, the characters never really ground themselves, and instead of tension, it just felt noisy. Drama for the sake of drama.
🏝️❝ Not every loud story has something real to say. ❞
If you’re looking to get into a reading slump and question every decision a fictional character makes — yeah, pick this series up 🙂😭
2 stars. Not for me. Maybe starting on book one helps… but based on this? I’m not rushing back.
This book is as jaw-droppingly brilliantly wrote as the first one. I enjoyed every minute and sometimes couldn't put it down. It is where all the bands of the last book meet up to have six weeks of partying with their mates on a massive tv show. It's about music, crime and fun. Like the first one, this book ends with a cliff-hanger. Overall, I would recommend this book to teenagers.

ok bruh but what the fuck was that end ? it was supposed to be calm and about music and now I have to wait for the next book to be translated in french and I'm just so frustrated...
Ah. This book... When I read the first book in this series I really enjoyed; but I guess it's clear that, that wasn't the case with this book. What really intrigued me about this series to begin with was mainly the humor. Humor, I find, is one of the hardest genres to write; but Robert Muchamore seems to achieve that very well. But other than that I really disliked this book as a whole.
I felt that the plot was non-existent and not in a good way. There were a lot of randomly placed incidents that I assume were written to keep the reader on edge but personally I just found it annoying.
The characters didn't really improve in this book at all either. I said in my review of 'Rock War' that the only character I felt was okay was Jay and occasionally his brothers. But in this book every other character who wasn't Theo seemed to fade into the background. There wasn't much focus on the music aspect anymore and more so on how many times Theo could get into trouble in one book.
I don't think I'm going to continue with this series if I'm completely honest. This book kind of reminded me why I disliked the writing style of Muchamore's C.H.E.R.U.B. series. If I find that the next book has gotten amazing reviews I may consider it but otherwise I'm sad to say that this book was quite a let down.
Boot Camp is the sequel to Robert Muchamore’s Rock War, which sees teenage rock bands competing on a reality show. Having got to know the main characters and their families in Rock War, and seeing them sign up for the reality show, Boot Camp features the beginnings of filming. Twelve teenage rock bands are herded in a house together to be filmed for six weeks where two of the bands will ultimately be eliminated before the main show starts.
As you can imagine this leads to tonnes of mayhem and Muchamore is great at writing that type of pandemonium, especially when twisted with his own brand of humour. It was interesting seeing all the behind the scenes of how a reality show is put together, from the way things are actually filmed to the finances and advertising that go into keeping it running. Everything is explored while the bands practice their music, get used to being filmed all the time and adjust to gaining fans for the first time through TV and social media.
The book is refreshing and different to anything I’ve read in YA, so if you’re into music and looking for a fun look at reality shows with added mayhem, romance and lots of laughs, Boot Camp and the Rock War series is definitely for you.
A brilliant sequel, I dare to say better than its prequel. Rock War sets us up for Boot Camp, introduces us to the characters and how they get to boot camp. Boot Camp is where it really begins though.
Robert Munchamore has succeeded in showing his fan base the world inside reality TV. The research that has been put into this novel is amazing and the attention to detail is superb.
The characters are what really make the novel, Munchamore has created characters to make you laugh (really hard), cringe, empathize with and most of all relate too.
PS: A few CHERUB characters may or may not have had cameo roles in this book.
im not gonna do a big reveiw as i did a big reveiw for rock war but id just like to say this is the only book ive ever sucessfully moved on the the second book.
4,5/5 stars.
I was completely shocked and sold on the first book! So much! that I HAD to buy this one to see if these passionate young kids who are passionate about their art and rock music...where going to deal with their new found celeb life. Robert Muchamore is smart in making the 'Big brother meets Xfactor for kids' seem realistic and real rather then mostly fake like the shows he took inspiration from.
All the characters that you have grown to love are in this book! Tristian and Michelle are still raising all hell which makes me think if they keep on pratting about its gonna ruin it for both bands. But this was honest to god amazing! A lot more experienced and exciting then the first book cause the mains got to meet and get really close with one another.
And....of course.....had that BRILL British humor that we all know and love 😊. But of a OMG moment near the end though....its gonna keep u at the edge of your seat wanting to read more!!
I cannot remember the contents of each book so I am going to write a review of the whole 4 book series instead.
Once again Robert Muchamore has created a brilliant series that hooked me right from the start. The characters are realistic and I became entranced in their lives and the contents of the plot. The story is well written with unexpected twists, lovable characters and disappointments throughout
It's a action and relationship genre. It's book 2 and I really enjoyed it.it was really funny and at some parts quite tense it was a very interesting ending and I would recommend it to both boys and girls.
As good, if not better than the first book, there is such an energy to the story.Very funny, very fast paced. Again, reading from the different peoples perspectives is a really good view point, and the book leaves you on a cliff hanger of note. Can't wait to read the next one, if i can find it.
This is not normally the kind of thing I would choose to read, however this series has been really good and I can't wait for three especially with the cliffhanger at the end of book 2.
I love reading Muchamore's books, he always delivers a good story. This book is the second in a series and it has been taking me on an amazing ride, I can't wait to read the next book.
A bit of nostalgia, or never-satisfied curiosity, got me to read this one the other night. It''s a Muchamore book, it reads like a Muchamore book, it's pretty funny if you're not too good for it.
Everyone’s weird obsession with summers look really annoys me. This book only get worse in my opinion and Robert seems to decide to go with every wrong option
This book was amazing, it was the first one I read as I didn't realise but it made perfect sense even so. The storyline makes sense and you just get attached to certain characters. Theo was amazing and kept making me laugh. You can just relate to him at his age especially with the part with Tristan.
What I didn't like was the end when it just cuts off. I feel that instead of hunting down another book you should finish the book instead of leaving it on a cliffhanger.
Also, at the end it gives you hints of what might happen next like "Will Karolina die in a freak photocopier accident?" I don't think this is a good idea because it just makes no sense whatsoever.
Would definitely recommend to older readers as it has some inappropriate language and content in general. Really good book overall.
