Expected 5 Oct 26
He's been alive for over a century and a half. She's been surviving her whole life. Neither of them expected what happens when their worlds collide.
Amari Goddard owns the most exclusive casino in Philadelphia, moves only at night, and keeps the world
at a careful distance. He has everything—except the one thing a vampire needs most. Aaliyah Carter is a
gifted artist working the pole at Fantasies on Fourth, one rent increase away from losing everything she
has. When Amari walks into her club and can't look away, neither of them is prepared for the force of what ignites between them.
But Amari is hiding something that would change everything Aaliyah thinks she knows about the world—and about him. And the closer she gets, the more she realizes that the most dangerous thing in her life isn't the men at the club, or the boss who takes half her money, or even the secrets Amari is keeping. It's the way she's starting to feel about all of it.
Dark, sensual, and set against the electric nightlife of Philadelphia, Thirst is a story about hunger in all its
forms—for blood, for freedom, for someone who finally sees you clearly.

WOW! 😮‍💨 I went into this book with absolutely no expectations, but I was thoroughly satisfied! 👏🏾✨

I was definitely iffy about Amari at first 👀. He was so dark and mysterious that I really didn’t know if I was going to enjoy him as the MMC, but he grew on me! 🖤 The more I learned about him, the more I understood his character, and by the end he definitely gave me everything I was looking for. 😭🙌🏾

Aaliyah was a great FMC! 👏🏾 She was strong, powerful, and stood firm in who she was. She didn’t let anybody make decisions for her or tell her how she should feel, which I feel like we don’t get enough of, especially in fantasy books. 💅🏾✨

What I loved most was that this story didn’t focus on what we typically expect fantasy to look like. It created its OWN lane! 🔥 The story kept shocking me because every time I thought I knew where things were going… WRONG! 😂😭 I genuinely never knew what was coming next.

I 100% loved this book! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ And now I’m sitting here like… BOOK 2, WHERE YOU AT?! 👀😂 Because I’m definitely invested!

♥️: Let me first of all say I will always love anything vampire! and this book gave me it all. I really liked our two characters a lot. Aaliyah learned how to stand up for herself and go for what she wanted. She followed her dreams even when it seemed her life was trying to knock her down. Amari was protective and really supported Aaliyah no matter what she decided to do.
📖:
The vampire lore wasn’t really anything new in this book but still had some of the qualities you look for in a vampire / companion story. I even liked the side characters too! Shawn, Nae & Janae were amazing Friends. I hope we can get more of them. I’m really interested in finding what’s going to happen next in book 2! The drama that’s bound to happen 🫢

I LOVE THEM
Amari was A MAN. The way he spoke, the obsession, the tension between him and Aaliyah, AHH SWOOON
Completely captivated me. He had me swooning with his desire for Aaliyah. Aaliyah had the best personality. She was sassy, feisty, and knew what/ who she wanted.
I also fell in love with the side characters and hope to get more of them..
The ending, AHHH I CANT WAIT FOR BOOK TWO!!

Where do I even begin omg gather around all my brutha and sistas whom were fans of Vampire Diaries, Charmed, Sabrina the Teenage Witch, Twilight, The Originals , Supernatural, Dracula, and Riddick and people didn’t understand our love for Vampires and the lore of it all. This book is for US and by US!!! It was perfectly written in current times with our two main characters Aaliyah and Amari. Aaliyah is a stripper living check to check trying to survive in our economy and Amari has been around for a century and exudes that wealth easily but clearly bored because he’s seen it all and it’s just repetitive now lol 😂 boring humans lol 😂 that is until he sees Aaliyah working the pole and feels the human equivalent to butterflies and heart strings pulling and wondering wth are these feelings ?! Cuz we all know Vamps have no souls but their emotions be on 1000 😮‍💨 Amari decides to explore this by spending more time with Aaliyah according to club rules of course and he’s drawn to her like no other but how does he confirm it?! Well you have to read it to find out 😏😈 and that’s when everything heats up in the best way possible and we find out is this a fated romance or just a chance of lust between kindred spirits ?! 🥹🥰 spice level : 🌶️🌶️🌶️.5/5 the anticipation and the yearning and the buildup was passionate and sensual and the moments were steamy but they were not the main focus and the scenes were just right.

The character development was a beautiful transformation throughout the book showing from how each character started out to how their worlds collided together changed so much for each of them but they also changed each other. They were challenging their morality, their own intuition and mind.

Definitely read the Authors Acknowledgement in the back I felt that was the most honest open letter to fans to see the human behind the name of W. S. Greer and I’m here to give you your flowers 💐! As someone who refound her love for reading about 3 years ago now and this being my first book from you ; I’m proud of you King for all you have accomplished and you finding your creative path that brings you happiness and fulfillment to your soul 🫶🏽🥰🙏🏽 excited for what’s in store going forward! September 2026 Small Business BookTok ARC Reviews (BookFable Edition): “Thirst” by W.S. Greer

Note: This ARC was given to me for free by the author and I am reviewing this book voluntarily.

"He's been alive for over a century and a half..
She's been surviving her whole life..
Neither of them expected what happened..
When their worlds collide!" - W.S. Greer

“From the author of “Kingdom”, “Left of the Slash”, and “I Love to Hate You” comes W.S. Greer's first ever Dark Paranormal Romance! The protagonist of this novel, Amari Goddard, is truly a fascinating character, combining the charisma and charm of Nathan from “Kingdom” and “Stack”, one half of the Smokestack Twins, from the movie “Sinners”! Aaliyah Carter, named after the late singer who starred as Queen Akasha in the 2001 Anne Rice film “Queen of the Damned”, is another phenomenal character that really showcases Greer's undeniable skill of writing heroines that many women can connect with or relate to! One can argue that the greatest lesson that can be learned from Aaliyah as a character while reading this book is the following: When life and the economy gets stressful and unpredictable, one must continue to fight for the goals they envision for themselves and not let anyone take their peace or ambition from them! The right people in one’s circle are those that would rather see them grow and succeed than try to make them suffer and fail. Did I also mention that this book does an excellent job of balancing the spicy tension between our two leads and the “stakes” (see what I did there? XD). Wanna Vampire Romance that packs a lot of “bite”? (Ok, I’ll stop the puns now! XD), then don’t miss out on this book when it hits online shelves on October 6, 2026!

I went into Thirst with no real expectations—and came away completely hooked. W.S. Greer delivers a story that feels fresh, atmospheric, and full of surprises, with Philadelphia’s nightlife providing a vivid backdrop for a romance that’s as dangerous as it is compelling.

Amari Goddard was initially hard for me to read (in the psychological sense). He’s mysterious, guarded, and carries the weight of more than a century and a half of secrets. But as his layers began to come into view, I found myself increasingly invested in him. His morally gray nature gives the story plenty of tension, and the intensity he brings to his connection with Aaliyah made him a memorable leading man.

Aaliyah Carter was a standout. She’s talented, resilient, and determined to remain in charge of her own life, even while juggling financial pressure and an exhausting job. I especially appreciated that she holds firm to her identity and feelings rather than letting others decide what’s best for her. She has strength without losing her vulnerability, and I was rooting for her throughout.

The romance has plenty of irresistible ingredients—fated mates, a blood bond, hidden truths, and that fiercely protective “touch her and die” energy. But the book isn’t simply a familiar fantasy romance dressed up in new surroundings. It confidently carves out its own path, and every time I thought I had the next turn figured out, the story proved me wrong. The supernatural revelations and shifting stakes kept me turning pages.

At its heart, Thirst explores different kinds of hunger: for survival, freedom, connection, and the feeling of being truly seen. It’s dark, sensual, and wonderfully unpredictable, with characters whose choices kept me emotionally invested.

I enjoyed this book, and I’m absolutely ready for more. That ending has me wondering what comes next—and impatiently asking: where is book two?

Thank you to W.S. Greer + The Author Agency for the ARC! 🧛🏾‍♂️🔥

A new-to-me author, a Black man writing romance, and an indie-published vampire love story? Yes, please. Thirst was such a fun way to kick off October!

Meet Amari … wealthy, successful, BDE and he’s been spinning the block for over a century 🤭. He walks into a strip joint looking for a fix and ends up with a whole lot more than he bargained for.

Then there’s Aaliyah … a gifted artist with goals of her own, trying to keep her money and her dreams intact while working in a world where her scummy boss takes half her earnings. She’s an FMC you can’t help but root for. I was toasting right along with her … yes, hunty cheers to seggs, adventure, money, and danger 😅!!! What starts as a little blood 🩸 and a little bread 💴 turns into something deeper. The chemistry is chemistry-ing, things heat up🌶️, and Amari starts wondering if Aaliyah is just a taste … or his companion, his fated mate.

Aaliyah getting swooned in the best way and atp is like “taste me” 😜, but soon realizes this isn’t just blood-play and she has to decide whether she’s ready for everything that comes with Amari.

I LOVED this story! The writing, the plot, the setting, and the side characters were done just right! It’s giving sensual vampire romance, hard-earned freedom, and … I need book two immediately. I’m hype!

Thirst releases October 5th … snag it and find out where this hunger leads!!!

I’ve read W.S. Greer before, but in a completely different genre, so I was VERY curious to see what he would do with a Dark Paranormal Romance.

Let me tell you—HE NAILED IT.

What I especially loved was that while Thirst gives us vampires, danger, secrets, and that darker paranormal feel, the story is grounded in today’s world. The setting, the struggles, the nightlife, the characters it all felt current and real, which made the paranormal elements hit even harder.

Now, let’s talk about Aaliyah and Amari. 🩸

Aaliyah Carter is a talented painter who has spent much of her life surviving. Her past struggles with abuse have shaped her into a woman with a “I’ll do what I have to do” mentality. She’s independent, guarded, and determined to create something better for herself.

And then there’s Amari Goddard.

More than 150 +years old. Owner of one of Philadelphia’s most exclusive casinos. Mysterious. Powerful. And hiding one hell of a secret.

Amari sees Aaliyah and he wants her. But what he wants comes with a proposition, and he knows he needs to make it worth her while. Aaliyah doesn’t know exactly who—or what—she’s dealing with. 🩸

And THAT is where things start getting interesting.

What I will tell you is that Thirst felt CINEMATIC. The Philadelphia nightlife, atmosphere, tension, chemistry, and paranormal elements had a whole movie playing in my head. I loved how W.S. Greer brought vampires into the present day while still giving me that dark, sensual paranormal energy I wanted.

And the way hunger is woven throughout this story—hunger for more than just blood?

And underneath all of that is hunger for blood, freedom, security, connection, and for someone to finally see you for who you truly are.

I am seriously geeked out writing this review because W.S. Greer did not disappoint! I could keep talking about this one, but there are things you need to experience for yourself.

Don’t just trust my words READ IT. 🩸🔥

Dark. Sensual. Modern. Addictive. And Amari Goddard definitely gave me something to talk about.

Now the question I was left asking…

Will there be more?

You’ll have to read it and find out.

If you enjoy Dark Romance • Paranormal Romance • Vampires • Strong FMCs • Mysterious MMCs • Secrets • Dangerous Attraction, put Thirst on your TBR.

Thank you WS Greer for this ARC in exchange for my honest review

I had such a good time with this one. A century-old vampire casino owner, a gifted artist working the pole, and the electric nightlife of Philadelphia made for such a fun, sensual paranormal romance.

Aaliyah was incredibly easy to root for. She’s been in survival mode for so long, juggling rising rent, a boss taking advantage of her, and her dreams of doing more with her art. I really liked that her relationship with Amari explored the difference between constantly being looked at and finally feeling genuinely seen.

And Amari? Wealthy, mysterious, powerful, and completely captivated by Aaliyah. Their chemistry was immediate, but there was enough emotional connection underneath the attraction to keep me invested in them beyond the physical.

I also really appreciated how naturally Black culture was woven throughout the story through the dialogue, humor, music, nightlife, characters, and community. Combined with the Philly setting, it gave the book such a distinct atmosphere and made the world feel lived in.

There’s also a clever thread of hunger running through the entire story. Hunger for blood, intimacy, security, freedom, and simply having more than survival.

Sexy, atmospheric, a little dangerous, and ridiculously easy to devour. I would absolutely spend more time in this world.

This book far exceeded my expectations!

I’m usually a werewolf/shifter type of girl, but once in a while, I find a good vampire book, and this was IT. In fact, it wasn’t just good, it was GREAT. I was up until 2 AM two nights in a row trying to finish this book. 😩😂

I usually don’t like books over 300 pages, but this was a 415-page book that I did not mind AT ALL.

Our book is about a 156-year-old vampire named Amari. He owns a casino and has everything going for him luxury-wise, but he still feels empty inside. He only has one friend, and he thinks he’ll never find his companion. Then he ends up finding his companion, of all places… at a strip club. 😂

He meets Aaliyah and immediately falls head over heels for her.

Aaliyah is a stripper who dreams of becoming a painter but just hasn’t found her footing in life yet. She’s bored with life too and is up for a little adventure. But when she meets Amari, she definitely gets her wish and then some. LOL.

I loved the scene with the ceiling fan reference after he drank her blood for the first time. 😂 I also loved the intimacy scenes between them.

I don’t want to give too much away, but you’ll definitely want to check this one out. And THAT ENDING?! I cannot wait for part two in February! 😩💕

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ ARC REVIEW | THIRST by WS Greer

This was a slow burn in the BEST way! 🧛🏾‍♂️🔥
Amari is a 156-year-old vampire and casino owner in Philadelphia who, after decades of never finding his fated companion, is basically just existing. That is, until a visit to handle one of his disruptive patrons leads him to Aaliyah.

Aaliyah is a painter by day and a midnight ballerina by night, doing what she has to do to keep a roof over her head. The moment Amari sees her dancing, EVERYTHING changes.
The chemistry between these two was immediate, but it was the yearning that had me hooked! You just KNOW that once Amari finally gets that first taste of Aaliyah, it’s a wrap—and baby, A WRAP IT WAS! 😮‍💨🔥

I ain’t never wanted to be a fictional character as much as I wanted to be Aaliyah. 😂 That man had my good sis FLOATING…literally.

And any trouble that came Aaliyah’s way? Amari handled it. Literally, touch her and 💀. He was not playing about his woman, and I was absolutely here for it! 🩸

If you love vampires, fated companions, undeniable chemistry, and a slow burn with a payoff worth waiting for, add Thirst to your TBR! 🩸🔥

“For her, I’ll burn it all down”

Listen I’m not saying I would say no if a vampire offered me $2,500 to let them drink my blood but what I am saying is I’d do it for free 🤣

Fr though when I say I cackled while reading this. I really cackled. Between Amari being a menace, sizzling bacon references, and the best friend Nae just saying whatever, I couldn’t put this down ❣️

Aaliyah is the girl you wanna see come up and can’t help but smile at her wins. An fmc who does what she has to in order to survive

One thing I love about the vampire x human trope is when they finally start questioning and piecing things together. Characters over there like now wait a minute 🙇🏾‍♀️ cause huh 🫢 I get giddy every single time lol

If you love when the MMC gets active over the woman they love then add this one. And let me know when yall read it so we can discuss lol

Happy to review an early copy. I saw the cover of Thirst and knew instantly I wanted to read it. This is my first read of W. S. Greer's writing, and I loved it. Amari has been around for more than a century and a half, navigating an ever-changing city. Aaliyah is a midnight ballerina with big dreams and a desire for her life to change. Their paths cross due to a chance encounter, and their lives are never the same. Amari extends an offer Aaliyah can't refuse, and as they say, it's up from there (pun fully intended!). As Aaliyah and Amari get to know each other, he becomes protective of her, and it's done without question. I found myself cackling, shouting out loud at the characters, just having a good time with this book.
Without spoiling it for readers, just know that this is dark romance with a morally challenged MMC. Even though there is some heaviness in the story, it is so well written that you can appreciate why it is part of the story. Please heed the trigger warnings. I hope in the next books of the trilogy, we can get a little more background on Amari, because I'd love to see some more of how he became a wealthy, fashionable, not-to-be-messed-with, classy thug. W. S. Greer has gained a fan!

W.S Greer is one of the realist people I know, he doesn't shy away from anything. When he hinted that he had something in the works and the excitement that was coming off that man, I knew I needed to read it. WHEW boy am I glad I did. Thirst kept me up way past my bedtime because I was so enamored with the story. Amari is a vampire that has it all except his Companion, he has the money, the age and the knowledge, when he meets Aaliyah, his world stands still much like we see him perform that magic trick a few times in the book. She gives him reason, and makes his dead heart alive. Aaliyah, finds her footing thanks to Amari and learns that sometimes letting go let's the best things happen to you even when it's not what you might expect, and sometimes you know in your heart before they tell you.

Oh this book had me hooked immediately! This was actually my first W.S. Greer read and now he's been promoted to auto buy for me. Thank you to W.S. Greer for allowing me access to this ARC and to my bestie for putting me onto his work.
I really love how Greer gave us a dark, romanticized, paranormal setting without completely subscribing to the stereotypical vampire book. Like this was able to still be intriguing, desirable, and believable. I love the chemistry between Aaliyah and Amari. Both completely enamored with each other but also very much individuals with their own identities. While Amari would literally burn the world for her, Aaliyah can still.hold her own. And that ending though!!!! I need the second book to drop as soon as possible.

First and foremost I am so proud of WS Greer for being his authentic self writing this book! I am so happy I got to experience his new way and chapter (pun intended) of life with his writing.
This book was certainly different than his others; and I am totttalllly here for it!
The banter, and the sass in places. The serious and “I dare you moments”. AAAHHH.
This is a series WHICH WAS A SURPRISE TO ME and an extremely pleasant one at that!
What are the chances I can just sleep until the next book comes out in this series… soooo good I do not want to wait.
Without giving anything away… the MMC … YYYEEEEESSSSSS. EVERY THING … simply yes.

Another great book by a fantastic author/writer. I cannot wait what else you have in store for us!

🩸Suddenly, I feel a thump in my chest. My heart just beat. 🩸~Amari

I just finished reading "Thirst" by W.S. Greer and wow—Amari and Aaliyah are incredible together. There’s nothing this author has written that I haven’t loved, and this book was no exception.

I liked all the vampire lore, but the modern twist is perfection. This book has everything—plot, banter, romance, a strong FMC, a morally gray MMC, amazing character growth, and side characters who tied it all together perfectly. And of course, it ends on a cliffhanger that leaves you desperate for more. Book two cannot get here fast enough.

Thank you, W.S. Greer for the ARC copy 🖤

Baby, I LOVE me a touch-her-and-DIEEEEEEE MMC, and Amari was NOT playing about Aaliyah. That man had been alive for over 150 years and apparently was just waiting for his woman because once he found her, THAT WAS IT.

I loved the dark vampire vibes, the Philly nightlife, and watching Aaliyah finally have someone who truly saw her. The chemistry, the protectiveness, and Amari being completely gone over that woman had me eating this UP.

W.S. Greer, congratulations on taking this leap in your writing journey. You did your BIG ONE with this, and I can’t wait to see what’s next for you.

Now bring on Book 2 because I’m definitely not done with this world yet. 🧛🏾‍♂️

Amari is a black billionaire (Vampire) Casino Onwer. He is just living life until one of his former customers has mad him upset for disrespecting his business. He has aning to end him ,that is until he sees Aaliyah on stage in Fantasies on fourth.
Aaliyah is a midnight ballerina and a struggling artist by day. She has been wanting to do her art full time but he isn't paying the bills. She has been struggling to paint. She sees Amari and he becomes her muse .

Thank you to The Author Agency for the eARC. I always loved vampires so when I saw this cover I KNEW I had to read it. What better way to start off October!?

Let’s meet Amari 🥵 - wealthy, successful, & the pure definition of HIM. A vampire who has been alive for a century who finds everything he’s ever needed just from walking into a strip club.

Now Aaliyah - so much more than a midnight ballerina. My girl has dreams and determination to be an artist. In a world designed to keep you down, I couldn’t help but root for her fight for everything she deserves.

What starts as a lap dance turns into so much more 🩸🫣. Some hungers can’t be ignored

I liked how broody Amari was and how classy he was. I was skeptical about Aaliyah at first but I really enjoyed reading her POV’s and how well she came into her character. I loved the connection these two shared, it was intense.
The atmosphere and vibe engulfed me and the writing style was amazing!

I knew from the moment I saw a post of Thirst, I wanted to read it.
📖
Amari gives Sinners Vampire vibes. Smooth, fine and protective of what’s his. When he met Aaliyah, the sparks FLEW off the page. I loved their chemistry and how their relationship developed. Nothing about it was typical or perfect and it kept me intrigued.
📖
I really liked Shawn and the pieces of his story. I would hope that we get a more developed story of him throughout the next two books. We love side character development.
📖
The last chapter! Whew…made me wish book 2 was ready to open right away because I NEED TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENED!!!!
📖
Thirst is dark, morally grey, spicy and a page turner. A must read.
