3.75 color me surprised stars
Faith is a story you need to go in blind, the only thing you'll need are your own assumptions. Believe me when I say, these kind of reads are hard to do, not because of the subject matter but because of the books that came before. So I admit as intrigued as I was to read about a slave trainer + preacher's daughter, I was also hesitant. Hesitant that I would compare him to one of my first book slave trainer. But as I read their story, the hesitation and fear went away, because Tanner was his own brand of fucked up. Emily was another story, it was almost eerie and believable how well she adapted to her surroundings.
Faith was a surprise, twisting and turning, where nothing is as it seems. Living in their own world, where there are no rules but his. It does delve in some darker kink and religious references, so be warned if that is not your thing. Luckily for me, I really enjoyed it. This stand-alone, multiple POV read allows you to get in their minds and question what you would do. Even though I didn't live it with them, their story was engaging for me to read. It was exciting, intense, kinky and different. Recommend for those who need a little something new and dark.

3 well that was different STARS
It just goes to show that trying to be like everyone else is a bad idea. Bad idea indeed. Of course going with the strange guy doesn't work out the way she thought it would...but we'll get back to that in a second.
Faith was my very first read by Terry Towers and this woman can write dark and twisted, let me tell you. WOW. I enjoyed reading it, the beginning was a bit rough for me, but the ending made up for a few things. I sure have a lot of opinions, so let's do this...
Tanner is a human trafficker and a self-proclaimed psychopath. Cold hearted, calculated and with no morals whatsoever. He kidnaps girls, breaks and trains them, and then sells them to the highest bidder. One night he finds himself in a club monitoring his next prey. But the girl gets lucky when his eyes fall on her friend Emily instead. The mousy and shy daughter of a pastor is about to have a surprise of a lifetime and Tanner is about to get a lot more than he bargained for.
Emily almost made me stop reading after a few pages. This girl has some serious problems with making good choices. Translation: she is absolutely incapable of making any good choices AT ALL. You see, she goes with this perfectly looking stranger on a walk out of the club and then on top asks him for a ride home.
GLUTTON FOR PUNISHMENT!
And it's her first night out EVER as well. She lived a sheltered life, full with strict rules and faithful people. And yes, she is a blushing virgin.
Amen.
On top of that she takes the whole situation pretty well, she is calm and yields quite easily. Oh and I should mention, Emily believes she was put in this place as a slave for a good reason...god has plans for her...

On the one hand this book was everything I thought it would be when I picked it up, straight forward story and rather predictable. On the other hand I'm not sure how I'm supposed to feel about this book.
Should I pity the less than smart girl who out of sheer naivety gets herself into the bad situation? Probably, yes - she didn't ask for this, just like a girl with a short skirt doesn't ask to be raped, but I can't lie I'm most certainly judging Emily.
Ultimately she takes the whole captivity remarkably well. She struggles, but I guess she has a strong survival instinct. My problem is that I just don't understand her and I sure as hell can't relate...with all that religious mumbo jumbo - just no.
Should I hate the man who dedicated his life to make other people suffer? Yes, most definitely, and yet...I guess I'm supposed to like him. In the beginning there were no redeemable qualities for him - and that really made me uncomfortable. I want them bad, yes - although maybe not quite that evil. Or maybe I do?
Problem is, and that's just where you lose me, he changes from a evil bastard with no remorse to love sick puppy in a second and it's disconcerting to say the least. Bottom line...I didn't care for this character.
Two main characters and I couldn't connect with either one? Not good!
Not only the characters, but also my feelings where all over the place while reading Faith. I guess you can tell by now. And things get even more complicated when they fall for each other.
Funny thing, Tanner gets there a lot sooner than Emily. I guess that's a nice way to go, but I'm still not that interested.
Emily was just easy prey whichever way you look at it. She was conditioned by her father her whole life and she wouldn't be able to spot a healthy relationship if it bit her on the nose.
Maybe I should shut off my brain while reading captive-romance-trope books. Ugh, the dilemma!
All of that made it hard for me to rate this book. The writing wasn't phenomenal, but it was alright. The story got my head spinning - so that's good - but it also left things to be desired. The things I really loved about this book are the scorching sex scenes. Seriously amazing. And the twist near the end was so unexpected and sick, I just couldn't help but love it.
All in all I'm going with a diplomatic 3 Star rating. Faith wasn't spectacular, but not bad either. Thanks for your time.

The author marched this 'could've been great' story straight into suicide by unbelievable.
Problem 1
The least of the problems here, but still worth pointing out. This storyline is talking about a destroyed compound, Lance Winters, and The Organization. <<< These are minor elements in the book and enough info is given to where the reader doesn't feel lost per'se, but I did feel like I was in the dark when it came to the history. Clearly, all the above is r/t another book that I haven't read. Some advanced warning in the blurb would have been nice so that I could decide if I wanted to read applicable books first.
Problem 2
The dialogue isn't believable given the situation. The dialogue isn't congruent or consistent with the character's personas. The actions, choices, & behaviors also often don't ring true and stray from the persona the author had otherwise painted for each character.
Problem 3
I don't mind dark characters with perversions and psychosis that aren't * errr * normal. I don't even mind characters that live in the dark shadows and don't categorize evil as I do.
BUT, what I do require in such a case is some quality that makes the person human to me... Some quality that I can respect or admire enough that I wouldn't be unabashedly gleeful in their painful death.
It's a LONG ways into this book before the author gives Tanner any humanity, and it's simply not a believable change when she finally does humanize him. It's forced without explanation.
Problem 4
Don't try to sell me a soulless monster incapable of empathy, regret, or a conscious compass AND in the same fucking sentence try to convince me of his mercy. Lol that hot air don't even fly kites, okay:
"She couldn't be trained. She'd snapped and gone completely insane, painting the walls of her cell with her feces and decorating with toilet paper. Slitting her throat at that point had been more of an act of mercy than murder, although many would argue me on that."
This book is to dark erotica what professional wrestling is to sports, okay~!
Eventually, he evolves to feelings w/ the FMC, but, again, by the time it happens, the hearts and flowers simply feel like a staged chair throw by The Rock.
Problem 5
We have a self-analytical speech on the difference between a psycho and a sociopath. I'm guessing the bragging about how superior he is was supposed to be hot... Uhm, no! More like asinine, laughably absurd , and completely not a convo that a psychopath would even fucking be having with his captive.
The author keeps painting herself in a corner with some of these plot devices and then tries to use a smoke cloud of 'character' confusion' to literally bolt out of it. The above was a perfect example. He brags how superior he is in intelligence and how he could pretend to be normal and live with a wife, kids, etc IF he wanted.
Shortly afterward, he begins to woo and court Emily with jewelry, date, and all the niceties of a normal nice guy. Suddenly they're a couple.
Wtf is this shit? It feels so contrived and fake. Yet, I'm supposed to buy his inner thoughts that is all real, novel, and confusing for him. Please~
Problem 6
She decides she will be a martyr for all womankind and be his personal sex slave if he will stop taking other women. Her religious training r/t biblical submission to a man seems to make her the perfect candidate in her own simpleton mind. Didn't buy nor like this plot device one bit.
It's an inner thought on repeat. Yet, when it shifts gears to her wanting to be there, absolutely no inner thought at all. Just transition with no rationale that leaves you wondering...
Problem 7
Again, she's decided , as if she had a choice, to be his personal sex slave so long as he wont take any other women. So why is she still bemoaning about her precious virginity and begging him not to fuck her as she's begging him to oral sex her up and down. The whiplash between acting like a Godly martyr ... A wanton whore ... And a prospect for nunnery is just too much with no good reason behind it.
"I was confused."
Bitch, that makes two of us.
Problem 8
The whiplash just won't stop - Making her wear a dog collar that shocks her vs his concerns for her happiness. He's perplexed why her mood would be up and down and her responses to him both excepting and suspect... Yet, the fucker is both as wooing and gentling with her as he is sadistic and threatening to her. <<< And, this dude is supposed to be a superior genius?!?...
Mmhum, okay.
Problem 9
He hunted down her family, not to do harm, but rather to investigate her dad and family to better understand her.
I'm gonna skip the psychopath watching hearts and romance movies as he muses about love.
I'll even skip him leaving her unattended and unsecured and that she DOESNT take advantage of this lapse.

The absolute kicker here is that this dude (who unashamedly kidnaps, tortures, and trains sex slaves; who calls himself a psychopath; who doesn't feel any kind of emotion) GIVES his sex slave a whip and allows her to beat him until he is helpless to her and bedridden for days. Wtf?
Their relationship goes from him\master and her/sex slave >>> to her tying him up and sticking an anal vibrator up HIS ass as they play some kinda weird ass chase, rape, and then make love kinda game. It's fing weird to say the least and some of the most unbelievable shit if I've read.
Problem ...whatever
The Proverbs 31 Killer. At this point I'm honestly expecting someone to jump out of the book and yell...

Realty!!! I'm a sucker for messages of finding love in the dark. Hell, Willow Madison and her sex slave trainer, Simon, are at the top of my top five books. BUT IT WAS REAL. This shit here is about as real as me winning the lottery having never even bought a ticket. And, that's sad because I could've loved the story, characters, and punchline here if they'd just been done in a way that was even semi-believable.
The End
Erotica fans looking to make hearts and flowers from elephant dung and weeds will fing love this book because it certainly accomplishes that. BUT, if you need that process to be anything remotely plausible and to remain congruent to the character's personas, then I suggest you turn and run quickly.

4 Dark Stars!

Whewwww that was a pretty steamy book, not going to lie!
Warning: massive amounts of cursing ahead!
-As much as I was bothered by Emily's "i'm a christian" mantra shit she spit out often, I really did end up liking her. She was a little spit fire and that really did overshadow her innocent paster's daughter routine. I also liked that she kept her head throughout this ordeal, knowing that it's better to adapt to survive, then fight it.
Although I did like Tanner, I found his sudden insta-love/insta-lust towards the heroine a bit off putting. Especially after he rambles on about how he's a psychopath and stuff...That being said, it was nice seeing the hero falling for the heroine first, and not the other way around. But like...again, he claims he doesn't know love and yet, he literally doesn't stop thinking about her from the second he see's her. Idk..unless she has a magical vagina, I found that a bit hard to believe...especially from someone who claim's he's mentally fucked up...
Good twist in the book that I did not see coming. Came out of left field a bit, but it still made for an interesting read.
And wow, the sex was STEAMY and HOT and I was worried that my kindle was combust into flames when these scenes were on the page. Terry Towers certainly has a talent for writing these VERY descriptive scenes!
So why 4 stars and not 5? Well, although the writing was good, I did feel like there were a few mistakes in the book that were rather blaring. Missing words in sentences and stuff. But it didn't do anything to really throw off the flow of the book, I guess the ex-English Lit major in me just notices these mistakes more than most would. That and the whole insta-love thing is definitely a turn off to me. Speaks to how much I liked this book because I usually DNF a book with insta-love. I was hooked from the first page and literally COULD NOT put it down.
Overall, loved the premise of the book and I will DEF be reading more from this author.

5 deliciously dark and twisted stars!
This book has made it into my list of top 5 dark romances. I can't believe I've had this for a few weeks now, I wish I'd read it sooner! My love for dark, erotic romance started with the incomparable Comfort Food by Kitty Thomas. Since then I've read so many books in this genre and I'm a massive fan of all things twisted. The darker the better really, I love a good mind fuck and Faith was certainly that. Wow. What an intense ride.
I both loved and hated Tanner. Quite simply, he was perfect. He's everything I could want in an antihero. He's oh so dark, a master of the mind fuck and oh so beautiful. I have a weak spot for beautiful monsters. What can I say?
I'll definitely read more by this author. Id definitely recommend this to my fellow dark romance addicts.

This story was dark and disturbing at the beginning but then started to gradually turn into royally fucked up romace with a HEA and I LIKED it!
Tanner was so intense, dark, hot with dirty mouth, an asshole most of the time and of course dangerous....I mean, seriously what's there not to love?! :D
Just a little something, his insta-love for the heroine put me off for a minute there, it was rushed and unjustified, especially after the dangerous psychopathic vibe he was giving off constantly at the beginning!
As for Emily she was the perfect church girl but surprisingly, and that was a good surprise, she wasn't naive or a doormat. She was selfless, stood her ground, fierce and naughty. YES, turned outbto be a naughty church girl!
Tanner unleashed her inner goddess, or let's say her inner bitch, everythings considered and all!
All in all I liked this book, and the twists througout the story, I didn't see some of them coming and that's a huge plus in a book for me...there were aslo some clichés but surprisingly they didn't incite any eye rolling which mean they were good.
I loved the writing style as well, this definitely won't be my last book by this outhor!
P.S if you are planning on reading "Trust", then read it before "Faith", as this book contains huge spoilers...

Just a little something, his insta-love for the heroine put me off for a minute there, it was rushed and unjustified, especially after the dangerous psychopathic vibe he was giving off constantly at the beginning!
As for Emily she was the perfect church girl but surprisingly, and that was a good surprise, she wasn't naive or a doormat. She was selfless, stood her ground, fierce and naughty. YES, turned outbto be a naughty church girl!
Tanner unleashed her inner goddess, or let's say her inner bitch, everythings considered and all!
All in all I liked this book, and the twists througout the story, I didn't see some of them coming and that's a huge plus in a book for me...there were aslo some clichés but surprisingly they didn't incite any eye rolling which mean they were good.
I loved the writing style as well, this definitely won't be my last book by this outhor!
P.S if you are planning on reading "Trust", then read it before "Faith", as this book contains huge spoilers...

I really enjoyed this one Emily the virgin Christian girl, pastors daughter. Tanner the bad boy psychopath, abductor, slave trainer.
I felt Tanner was a bit soft of Emily at the start but then when I saw where this was going began to understand Tanner. He really did have emotions and feelings for someone.
Their was a good twist in the story with Emily's father did not see that coming.
I loved the erotic romance and banter between the two of them.
My first read by Terry and sure it will not be my last.

It was a bit difficult to wrap my head around the Christian overtones in this book, with a dark erotica, but I do think that Ms. Towers pulled it all together nicely.
Emily was a pastor's daughter, and was raised by Proverbs 31 -- that she should be a woman of virtue and humility, eager to be a dutiful wife and mother. Meeting Tanner threw all those beliefs out the window. She was to be his slave and his whore. A role that was completely out of her element...but at the same time, there was something about it, with Tanner, that made her crave it.
Tanner starts out as a very dark character, but slowly, over time, he seems to sink into Emily's web instead of the other way around. No, he doesn't turn into a born again Christian, but he is able to give Emily what she needs and craves, even if Emily didn't know she wanted those things herself.
This book is dark, but there is a light, albeit dim, that starts to shine. For me this was a page turner. It was twisted with a lot of surprises. I love that in a book!!

3.5 I wish it wasn't so stars...
I'll admit it... it was the one star reviews warning how dark and twisted this book was that made me buy it. My love of the anti-hero runs deep and the more disturbed they are, the better. Perhaps that makes me depraved but I own it so I don't care. Tanner starts off deliciously evil, abducting Emily and feeding off her innocence. He was brutal, a self-proclaimed psychopath, and Emily was falling for every trick in the book... the perfect martyr. Of course she was. Raised a daughter of a pastor, she'd been born to submit and taught to obey. Despite knowing how evil he can be, Emily struggles with her growing affections/lust. At this point, the book was a five star read for me and then WHAM!

Initially I enjoyed this book. It starts off very strong & I was quickly sucked in. Just when the story was getting good and dark, our "bad guy" goes soft! Despite having been a sociopath his entire life, his latest victim is supposedly so unique and special that she inadvertently brings out his compassion, empathy and heart (traits he never thought he possessed). Because of this Plain-Jane, virgin, teenage girl our male main character suddenly realizes that he has a conscience? Come on!
IMO, this unlikely storyline plus the many distracting typos resulted in a mediocre book. It's so unfortunate though because there truly was a lot of potential here! Demonstrated by the unexpected twists and turns that occur later in the book, each adding depth and intrigue to the storyline, Towers is capable of writing something extraordinary. I am pretty sure Towers would have achieved success with FAITH if the main character Tanner had stayed in character....

4-4.5 Solid Stars
I just finished another GREAT book by Terry Towers. As much as I liked this book a lot, for me personally, I enjoyed the first book Trust better. This story was very dark and pretty erotically intense at times and yet did have some really "sweet" moments. The ending, btw, home run for me:)
Why not a solid 5 Star read for me this time, well it's a personal decision based on a couple of incidents that happened and although a "normal" and "integral" part of this type of story, for me, I just didn't like it hence my hesitance to go full 5 star rating!
All in all, I have come to truly love and look forward to Terry Towers' books and as usual I cannot wait for more from this talented author!

I loved the way this story started. The hero wants to kidnap one girl, but instead feels an "attraction" to her friend and decides to kidnap her instead. The hero kidnaps girls to train them as sex slaves and sell them on the black market. I love these type of stories, but my disappointment came that I did not feel as strong of a connection as I hoped I would have. I guess I did not believe the hero's change of heart or why he was the way he was. Did he not come from a decent family and upbringing?! Maybe I read that wrong.
I enjoyed the little "twist" that came out at 60% and wished that there was more of that in the story.

Pretty good story. Not entirely what I expected, but still good. Big willing suspension of disbelief for this storyline. Antihero Tanner, or master / sir, as he has Emily call him, is a diagnosed psychopath with narcissistic tendencies, personally affluent but dabbling into the sex trade. Upon seeing Emily, a devout Christian at her first outing to a club, he kidnaps her keeps her as slave. Theoretically she succumbs to Stockholm Syndrome, but for the purposes of the romance in the story, she falls in love with her captor, as he with her.
There were times where I found myself distracted with the storyline. The change in the hero from antihero becoming soft didn't feel realistic to the original theme of the story. The almost complete disregard of his history of human trafficking. Still, I didn't mind a lighter romance, though the storyline almost stalled with not much happening within their same four walls. Great twist in the story after the 60% point. I could appreciate the somewhat suspense / thriller nature to the story, but I could predict where the story was going.
Great deal of steam in this story with a back drop of BDSM.

Once again, Terry Towers takes me on a disturbing, heart-wrenching and oh so sexy journey. Yes, my buttons were pushed and I had moments totally out of my comfort zone but Emily and Tanner's story kept me reading to find out who would save whom. Emily has been raised under the iron thumb of her minister father, very sheltered and protected. Just as she starts to make strides to move out of this suffocating cocoon, she is kidnapped. Can she find the strength to endure? Tanner works without emotion. He finds women, trains and breaks them then sells them to the highest bidder. Emily captivates him one night at the bar which changes his plans, what he never expected was that she could captivate his heart. Is there hope for Tanner to find his soul? Emily surprised me over and over as she dealt with this crazy situation. As always, Terry Towers threw in a few amazing twists, just when I thought I knew.

Wow, I've been told this is a mindF*** of a book and I have to agree. There are so many things about it which seem entirely too unbelievably twisted, yet there it is on the page. I wouldn't say I didn't enjoy the book, rather that it was a fast paced read that had me from start to finish, but I did find myself questioning the validity of a few things between Emily and Tanner. The best way to put it, for me, is that great fiction makes us believe in something impossible, whereas most fiction simply presents us with something unbelievable and for me, Faith falls into the latter category.

This book is dark! The Hero is seriously sick and twisted. I shouldn't have enjoyed this story and yet the author brought me around to sort of being ok with him?! I mean the man got his kicks from kidnapping women and breaking them and turning them into sex slaves!
I would have preferred Tanner to still be dark by the end. It felt he became a bit to nice (yes I must be twisted) to stay true to his character but it was good to see him and emily develop. I think this book could prob even have a sequel to see what Flynn will demand of Tanner and how he and Emily cope with it.
This is def a book that has left me feeling that ying yang feeling.

3.5 - 3.75 stars. This was a good book. It is described as a dark romance, which it is, but I have read darker. This is not the worst of the worst, so don't let it turn you away from reading it. There are definitely triggers in this book for some, rape, violence, death, kidnapping, etc... I understand that some of the reviewers are appalled at the HEA after all that happened in the story, but that's exactly what this is, a story. It is not reality. The author never says this book depicts any factual or actual events.

I received this book as a gift from Terry Towers and Paranormal Romance & Authors That Rock for an honest review. This book is a dark read. If your not into that type please don't read it. Emily is my favorite character. She is sweet and loving. Tanner is also one of my favorite characters. Tanner helps Emily find things out about her life that she never knew before. In a way Tanner and Emily help each other. I hope you will try this book.

Bittersweet
This was a good book. Its very dark and controversial, but still page turning and unique. I hated the hero and at the same time wanted them both to find love. Its an interesting concept to think of a true psychopath learning how to love, but the game at the end there was so much fun to read. I definitely recommend this book to people that can handle a truly dark romance.

I'll admit, when I first started this one I was tempted to put it down (not because it weren't any good but because I felt bad for reading it). I'm so glad I finished it! This is my first book by Towers but definitely not my last!

Mixed feelings
On one hand don't we all just love a story about a bad boy that gets tamed, come on we all wish it was us who tames him. Saying that, Tanner was so evil I just don't buy his sudden about face. I also wasn't a fan of Emily becoming so nasty in her behavior.

This book was... okay. I liked it enough to finish it, but I don’t feel strongly about it one way or the other. I liked the original idea, but something about how bothers me. There’s lots of romance novels like that, and sometimes it’s done well, but I couldn’t follow the process here. It seemed too sudden, I think, and it made me roll my eyes a couple of times.
The plot was interesting overall, but it wasn’t un-put-down-able for me. In fact, I read one or two other books between starting and finishing this one, which is unusual for me.
The sex scenes were well-written, but the dichotomy between the two main characters in the end wasn’t exactly to my tastes, so I probably wouldn’t re-read it for the sex scenes either.

There is not too much angst - which I liked, and Emily, though she is naive at first, turns out to be both resilient, adaptable and strong. Tanner as an anti-hero is often times quite sweet, which I'm not opposed to either. And some of the sex scenes were hot, but others were a bit bland. All in all should be an easy and enjoyable read for me but I found it difficult to connect with the characters.
