To others our story would read as some insane horror story about a couple of disturbed and delusional people and not the love tale that it was, but that’s all right.

“You can be the worst version of yourself without judgment.”

“A part of me was telling me not to go with him, that it was a very bad idea. Bad things happened to careless and reckless girls who went alone with strange men. But there was another part of me that wanted to be like the rest of the girls.”

“A shiver of anticipation raced through me. What was wrong with me? He'd hurt me, humiliated me, taken me from those I loved, and I was reacting to his touch. I was disgusted with him, but more with myself.”

“Emily, I know what we have is--”
“Complicated.”
“Royally fucked up, was what I was thinking, but complicated works as well.”

"She couldn't be trained. She'd snapped and gone completely insane, painting the walls of her cell with her feces and decorating with toilet paper. Slitting her throat at that point had been more of an act of mercy than murder, although many would argue me on that."
"I was confused."
"To others our story would read as some insane horror story about a couple of disturbed and delusional people and not the love tale that it was, but that's all right. There's something to be said about looking into the darkest depths of your partner's mind and, after having a glimpse behind the black curtain of their souls, still loving despite it- even because of it. I know that even though what we have is extreme, it's real."

I didn't know about this one until it popped up on my Amazon as a recommended read. Thank you Amazon!
"There's something to be said about looking into the darkest depths of your partner's mind and, after having a glimpse behind the black curtain of their soul, still loving them despite it -- even because of it."This book sucked me right in from the beginning, and while I felt that Tanner could have ended up as a stronger character I understood that sometimes love does conquer all. As it was in the case of this book.
