Good microhistory. Very readable history for someone who might want to learn about just how interconnected the world is. Great read, especially for someone who has only studied history in geographic blocks. Is it the most historically thorough, no - it makes large leaps and summarizes huge swaths of history and skips the nuance of cause and effect far more granular than what it covers. But that doesn't make it a bad read... I found it very interesting, clever and providing a high level overview across history that I hadn't seen before. If you want an in-depth thoroughly researched history, look elsewhere, but if you want a pop-culture entertaining read and aerial fly thru of several millennia of history, then you'll enjoy this.
