The Watcher

Rate this book
It is not the darkness in him that I fear. It is the darkness in me.

Her mother is seriously ill. Her job is tiring and stressful. There is darkness within her, a craving for pain and raw, hard sex. The mysterious Club Phoenix offers Kelly Mitchell all these things.

But surrendering control at the doors of the dungeon is an addictive feeling and with each visit, she falls further and further into oblivion.

All she has to protect her are her safe words and the carefully intent eyes of the Watcher. He is Kelly’s lifeline.

But will the Watcher catch her before she loses herself completely? Will he keep her safe?

Will she even want him to?

NOTE: This is a dark, steamy book. Happy endings are optional. While all scenes are consensual, they are filled with harsh sadomasochism, rough sex, anal play, and humiliation.

Too much BDSM humiliation going on. Definitely not my thing!

I don’t understand why some BDSM books portray either the lifestyle or what goes on in the sex clubs so differently than others. Some make it all seem so much about trust between the participants and pain and pleasure, and the men giving the women orgasm after orgasm. Other times it is all about female degradation and shaming and making them crawl on the floor and beg and calling them awful names. I can’t see who would sign up for that.

This book tries to show Kelly’s reasons for becoming addicted to going to this sex club. I can technically see how someone with a hard life such as she has would want to be a submissive now and then to let someone else take charge and not have to think or make any decisions. But if you are taking care of a Mother with early onset Alzheimer’s, dealing with possibly having the gene for it yourself, working a high stress job and other things like that, wouldn’t you want to be taken care of instead of treated like crap?

Anyway the watcher part is pretty hot, though the ending leaves a lot to be desired. Just not my cup of tea!

Sometimes you have to be tipped completely off balance if you ever want to find your center...
"Fear for your physical safety - That comes of watching too much TV. Physical violence isn't the biggest risk." He leaned forward, pinning me in place with his intent gaze. "The real danger is that once you take a step on this path, you might not want to return."
I'd like to sit here and warn you that this book might be a little darker than the average BDSM Erotic Romance reader might enjoy... But that simply isn't true.

Is this a dark read?
Not so much...
I mean, it's certainly darker than I've come to expect from Tara Crescent.
But the story itself? Not dark...
It's INTENSE.
Both sexually and emotionally.

There were some brutal moments - the MC is a masochist, and is given the opportunity to indulge in her darkest desires inside the Phoenix Club - an exclusive sex club catering to America's most affluent.

Brief Inventory of Kink:
wax
canes
crops
whips
chains
anal play
voyeurism
humiliation
degradation
exhibitionism
orgasm denial

Yeah... just go ahead and add the words "intense" or "extreme" to each one of those because no scene is half-assed or fluffy in the club Kelly finds her bliss in.

Perhaps that's why I can't commit to calling this a dark read.

Kelly's personal life is spinning out of control, and in the midst of this seemingly endless heartache, she's given the opportunity to surrender herself to every base desire she's kept hidden.. and surrender SAFELY...

Under the protective gaze of her Watcher...
Her silent protector...
Her childhood friend...
The last man she ever thought she'd find in a sex club...

Surrender becomes addictive when the alternative is facing a harsh reality, and Kelly's reality is truly fucking heartbreaking. The entire story is told from her POV, and the reader has an intimate front-row seat to her swift tumble down the rabbit hole.

Incredibly Emotional,
Beautifully written,
Deliciously Sexy,
& completely worth your time.

I've always appreciated the characters Tara Crescent crafts in her stories. They're wonderfully three-dimensional and relatable. Mature even when they're running a little wild.

I was quite curious to see what she could do with a more intense, slightly twisted story-line... And let me tell you what...

Five Stars.

This book includes a "choose your own Epilogue" feature, because not all stories get a happily ever after... But some do...

Well played, Tara...
Well played :)

#ARC given in exchange for an honest review*

This is the second Tara Crescent book I've read and oh my God, she can create such great characters. I love her unique storytelling and I was so excited when I was handed this review copy. The Watcher will be included in The Darker Side of Love anthology.
The book follows Kelly, a successful fashion designer and a woman with one great fear; Alzheimer. Her mother was diagnozed with the disease at a very young age and at 53 she has forgotten her own daughter. Kelly is terrified that she herself will have the same illness and her terror leads her to make some important and life-altering choices.
Miles St. Clair is her childhood friend and the only person who is there for her. He supports her financially so her mother can have the best care posssible. Kelly has always been secretly fascinated with Miles, but realizing that he probably doesn't care for her romantically, she has always kept her distance. Fearful that her mother's disease will eventually lead her into darkness, she seeks satisfaction through sex. She decides to join a club and under Miles' assistance she finds one. Club Phoenix is the place where she explores her sexuality through the watchful eye of the Watcher; a man who inrigues her with his magnificent green eyes and utter silence during the sessions.
Spiralling into several BDSM scenes, she starts losing herself. Intimacy is forgotten until an incident forces her to choose between emotionless sessions and love.
I loved the book even if I was at times mad at Kelly for her reckless actions. I hated the fact that she let the possibility of Alzheimer cloud her judgment, but at the same time I couldn't help but like her.
The thing I loved most about this book was Miles. I don't know why, but from the start I developed a soft spot for him. He didn't disappoint.
The ending was unique! What an ingenious way to end the book. Bravo to the author.
5 Stars from me.

HOLY SHIT! Ok, well how do I review this book????
Lets start off by saying I am a big fan of Tara Crescent I don't think I have read a book of hers that I haven't enjoyed. Now that being said, I have to say this is my ALL TIME FAVORITE book of Tara Crescent's. This is the first time she has written anything dark and I personally hope she continues.
Kelly and Miles grew up next door to one another in Akron Ohio and even though he is five years her senior she always had a little crush on him. He moved to New York when he started his company and she moved to New York a few years later to follow her dreams in fashion. The always met for lunch and once a month they flew back to Akron so she can visit her mother (that is in a nursing home because she is suffering from Alzheimer) and he can visit his. During one of their lunches she makes a comment about "Billionaire Sex Clubs" so he reaches in his wallet and tells her to call.
Well, you know the rabbit hole that you fall into and can't find your way out of...that is Kelly. She wants to be used as a sex object, but one thing about getting a membership into Club Phoenix is that she has to have a watcher observe her sessions until membership is granted, this may or may not work into her favor. I will leave that for you to decide, as will Tara Crescent because there are two endings and you get to pick which one you want her to take. So of course I read the one that I wanted and then I went back and read the other ending. Both endings are great in their own ways it just depends on how you look at it. And I have to mention that "The Top Starts Spinning" and "The Top Keeps Spinning" is mentioned quite a bit and if you have seen the movie "Inception" you will understand why.
I know that I will be rereading this book, it was a quick extremely hot read.

5 Dark and twisty stars!

I'm used to reading light, happy BDSM romances by Tara Crescent so while I knew this was goigng to be darker, I had no idea what really awaited me.

First of all, I adored this book! It was definitely darker and more intense than anything I've read from this author before. Emotionally, this book was twisted. It wasn't only the physical scenes which were dark (and believe me, they were plenty mind screwy), but the psychological element was pretty powerful too.

Kelly is such a damaged soul, hell bent on self destruction. Miles is her childhood friend, determined to save her from herself. Together they make a wonderful yet dyfunctional pair.

I adored Miles, he was very intense and THOSE EYES... I melted just reading about them.

Kelly was a little too-stupid-to-live for me to love but I can see how easily she would have become addicted to the darkness and oblivion of Club Phoenix. She was looking for an escape and she certainly found a way to distance herself from her life.

I thought this was wonderfully written. The writing really drew me in and the atmosphere was tense and fearful. I have to admit, I was terrified for Kelly at times, I really wanted her to stop the madness. I'm glad the watcher was there to protect her from her idiocy.

The ending for me was brilliant, Tara Crescent provides two possible endings and the reader can decide Kelly's fate. This was really unique and definitely tipped this to a 5 star read for me.

The Watcher will be part of The Darker Side of Love anthology and I strongly suggest you buy it.

Review for The Watcher by Tara Crescent

“Dream of forgetting. Dream of remembering.
Dream of oblivion, my pet.”
Wow.

Really. Just. Wow.
I’ve read at least ten titles from Tara Crescent and she has never once disappointed me, but The Watcher … this one caught me off guard. I was warned it would be dark, potentially disturbing, what I didn’t fully grasp was how devastatingly emotional this would be. I know I say this in almost every review for Crescent’s books, but her ability to put SO much heart into a novella length story just amazes me. Not only does she have a storyline that will suck you in, but her characters are so well developed that I swear I crawled right inside the body of her heroine and LIVED her story.

Kelly broke my heart. We all have those moments in our lives where we stand at the fork in the road and we can choose left or right … Kelly’s Watcher IS that fork for her. Finding an outlet to lose herself, to give away her power … Can her Watcher keep her safe as she runs headlong into the unknown?

“I feel like Alice in Wonderland falling down the rabbit hole.”

I literally want to just pour out every feeling I have because of this character and why I felt it so intensely, but if I do that it’s going to completely ruin the story for you. I refuse to do that. So you’ll just have to fall into the rabbit hole with Kelly and see what happens.
If you dare.

Miles is a billionaire. Brilliant, responsible, and steady. Everything about him screams stability. He is exactly the kind of guy everyone would want … that Kelly might want … except she wouldn’t dare. I have a bit of a love/hate relationship with Miles. He so obviously only wants the best for Kelly, but he is determined to let her find her way instead of helping her find the path.

“You are more than your sexual desires. What you crave
in the darkness of the night does not define you.”

The Watcher is a complete FIVE star read … I have to warn you the content is out of this world insane when it comes to the dark aspects. And I’m not speaking of the physical acts, but the mental and emotional sides of the story will definitely get in your head. I loved every minute of the roller coaster. And the ending? Well, that was pretty dang epic …

When you reach the fork in the road, what direction will you choose?

What an emotional read!

This is my second book from Tara Crescent and I was not disappointed! This is a story of trust, to see how far your limits could go and when to know you have pushed too far.

I loved this book. It put my heart on fire. The situations Kelly is put through were tough but the inner struggle and the turmoil she went through felt so real. Miles is a man who I loved! He could be my watcher any day! I would have loved his POV. I will remember this book and this couple always!

The Watcher
Tara Crescent
3.5 stars

Kelly is looking an out. Her job is stressful. Her mother is sick. She needs something to ease her pain and put a void in her mind so she cant think. The illness her mother has could be passed down to her or her children. She is running scared and she doesn’t want to be anymore. When Miles, her childhood friend introduces her to his club she never thought she would feel what she does. Miles was a nerd. A geek of science; not a dominant, he couldn’t be. To her surprise she loves the pain. Severe pain, humiliation and the desperation that comes with playing; she craves it so much that she is falling into the dark. Kelly will never use her safe word .. ever.

Miles helps Kelly explore what she craves but her limits are becoming darker. He doesn’t think she has limits. He never interferes in her play or scenes. He lets her explore. Kelly is playing a dangerous game that in the wrong hands could turn wrong. Miles is The Watcher and he will make sure she stays safe.

There really isn’t much else to this story. You take the journey with Kelly learning what she wants and releasing her day into her submission. Miles I believe is maybe the savior in this and that he “watches” the newcomers to the club making sure they are safe and cared for properly. It wasn’t bad and it was a short read at 120 pages. However for me I like something deeper in my reads. It doesn’t mean its not for you. If heavy BSDM and more is for you then click it up.

A note from the author: This is a dark read. Happy endings are optional. While all scenes are consensual, they are filled with harsh sadomasochism, anal play and humiliation.

Sue Zawisa gifted as an ARC by the author for an honest review

This book is very, very dark. If you are looking for a feel good read keep looking. Kelly is a fashion designer in training who is overwhelmed by her mothers early onset of Alzheimers. It is pure hell for her to see the changes that are happening to her mom and she is so afraid the same will happen to her. She does not see a future for herself...mo love, marriage, husband or kids. So she has locked her emotions away and the only way for her to have any kind of feeling is debasing herself through sex. The one ray of sunshine in her life is her friend Miles...her lifelong friend since childhood. Miles sees what she is doing and offers her a safer way with the hopes of helping her. Take their shared journey through the darker side of the BDSM scene to see where it all leads.

Kelly and Miles are childhood friends and Miles is her rock, her billionaire friend who helps her with her mother. Kelly would like more to happen between them but she holds off due to her mothers history. When Miles introduces Kelly to a secret BDSM club, she always thought that Miles would be horrified by her fantasies, will Kelly be proven wrong ?

Wow, I really enjoyed this one - this is quite a dark and somewhat twisted read, whilst all the scenes were consensual they were quite degrading, emotionless and lacking in any pleasure. The book is fairly short but well written, personally I would have liked to have read more of their story and for this book to be longer. I really like the different take on the ending - without giving anything away!
I have never read anything by Tara Crescent before but I will definitely be reading more now.

I recieved The Watcher by Tara Cresent in exchange for an honest review.

The Watcher was a darker, grittier story of a woman that is into Masochism. There aren't any limits that she is willing to safeword for. Kelly is a masochist that wants to explore her limits within the supposed safe confines of a high end elite club. She gets the stamp of approval to get into the club by Miles St. Clair who is a childhood friend that grew up to be a billionaire. He ushers her into the club that she had no clue that he was a part of because she thought that he was just a science geek who had too much control for something of a darker nature.

I liked the story of The Watcher for the fact that we were in the mind of Kelly and why she wanted to explore this part of herself. Being a sub was a release for her because she was scared. She had a familial diagnosis that could be potentially passed down to her or her children and she didn't want anyone to experience the pain that she was now suffering due to this familial illness. She didn't want to face the truth and in that denial, she wanted to be free of the burdens that she carried in her mind and in her life. Her childhood friend, Miles St. Clair, helped her to explore her needs by being her watcher. That means that he was there for her while she explored her limits inside the club and make sure she stayed safe, but never interferring in her scenes.

This was very different angle to the storyline and I was intrigued at how Ms. Cresent was going address the situation and the interaction with the Kelly and Miles. The story relied heavily upon Anna and being inside her head and it seemed that Miles was a part of a scenario more than him being the other lead character. Kelly posed and played for him fanatasizing that he was with her, but most of their interaction was minimal until the end. As a reader, I felt Kelly's desire for him, but I didn't quite feel the same level of intensity for her, except for a scene when Miles was bringing Kelly back to reality. That scene had some heat and explained why Miles became a watcher to newbies and made him seem more legitimate as a hero.

The story ended with an HEA, but be cautioned that this story is not a typical romance.

(and the top begins to spin)

This is the second story I have been honored to read by Tara. I read it three times! The story consumed me. Like Kelly, I am a child of not one but two loved ones that had Alzheimer's. No one can ever understand the process of darkness that begins to creep and consume you while trying to deal with your loved one being robbed of everything they are.....everything you are. No control. Nothing you can do. Are you next? When? The pain encompassing all that you are until all you want, all you believe you need is numbness. Loneliness. For Kelly, her lifeline to some normality in life is Miles. What she learns is that he is so much more than a childhood friend but she doesn't want him involved anymore than he is with her darkness. Her heart is a definite no but he knows, understands and has lived in this darkness. He wants to be there for her. What does this all mean?

Truthfully, I cried through this read. Not sobbing but understanding like I never had before not only Kelly but myself. I found myself grabbing and holding tight while the emotional rollercoaster rocked my world. My heart and soul walked, talked, hurt, crawled, suffered, screamed and wanted with Kelly and Miles. I also smiled, giggled and cheered inside for their salvation, for their understanding, for their friendship and for their love. I loved the way they felt together. As the story progresses so does the want, the crave, the naked truth...their reality.

I, of course, LOVED the eroticism throughout the book. I could feel the bite of the toys, the twisting of the rope, the want. Nothing is more intoxicating than the ability to smell, hear, taste the experience while wanting more. The book reached for my core and I gave it willingly because I knew The Watcher would be there for my protection. Read this and let those green eyes be there for you. Try it all. It's okay. He will be there, between the light and the dark, looking out for your needs as you look back and fall further, harder inside him.

Corner please. Reservation for two....in the light.

This book is quite shockingly dark in an adult Grimm's fairytale kind of way. The BDSM elements are hot and heavy and really well written. The story has a contemporary feel intermingled with fairytale elements of mystery and suspense of a young heroine who is making her way in a dark and dangerous world and whose handsome prince may or may not be just around the corner.

Kelly is a young woman who has come to New York to be a fashion designer. Her mother has early onset dementia and Kelly feels unable to commit to life and love and children if the same genetic fate that struck her mother so cruelly awaits her.

Instead she begins a path of sexual humiliation that could lead her into great personal danger. Childhood friend Miles has the means to offer Kelly a safer if no less humiliating option within the confines of a private club and and the protective care of 'the Watcher' who witnesses Kelly's humiliation and will be able to step in if things get out of hand.

The story offers two potential and equally plausible endings, one deep and dark and in keeping with the hugely emotional roller coaster of the piece and the other a more romantic version for those of us who prefer a happy ending.

The journey through the darker side of the BDSM scene as a coping mechanism for someone coming to terms with grief and trauma and facing their own uncertain future is a gripping tale and one told in a particularly high calibre of erotic writing.

With stories as good as these in the 'Darker Side of Love Anthology' the reader is in for a treat. I was provided with a copy of 'The Watcher' part of the anthology by the author in exchange for an honest review.

I don't know where to start I think my mind is still spinning from this one. Kelly is dealing with a lot to say the least, her mother has early onset Alzheimer's and no longer knows who she is. Lost to the only family she has left Kelly's biggest fear is that it's genetic and she's watching her own fate. To avoid causing anyone the heartache she herself is experiencing she keeps everyone at an arms length include her sexy billionaire friend Miles. Besides he's to straight laced for her, isn't he? Imagine her surprise when Miles invites her to check out the sex club he's a member of, can Kelly find the escape she's been looking for or will she just find herself more lost?
This book was intense from the hot and extreme BDSM scenes to the intensity between Kelly and Miles the book didn't let up. I found myself unable to put it down reading it in one sitting to see if Kelly would find what she was looking for or better yet if she would survive it. Parts of the book definitely pushes limits and it doesn't lie about being a dark romance. That being said i think anyone who's ever watch a family member whittle away mentally and/or physically will have a hard time not connecting with Kelly and her fears. Don't we often let our own fear stand in our way? I will say without giving anything away i'm feeling a little conflicted on how the book ends, it felt incomplete for me I want to know more and feel like the story isn't over or at least not as finished as I would like it to be. That being said this is a standalone novel with no cliffhanger and you should one click it today!

Lita T’s Review: 4.0 ★★★★ The Watcher by Tara Crescent is a strange and different look into the world of BDSM. Kelly is a young professional in New York City. However she has the weight of the world on her shoulders. Kelly’s mother was diagnosed with earlier on set Alzheimer. The mother’s condition is so severe she is in a nursing home. The nursing home is in her home state of Ohio. Kelly tries to fly to Ohio to visit her mother at least twice a month which is financially taxing plus the fact her mother doesn’t even remember her. The stress has gotten to point that she ends up joining a sex club where she is a submissive who can endure a lot of pain. The pain takes her to place where she can lose herself and forget the pain in her life. She can endure so much pain that she is sort after by the worst sadist. This club is different because they have watchers. Kelly has a watcher. He is there to make sure she doesn’t take it too far and ends up getting herself hurt. Kelly will not use her safe word. She gets lost in her watcher’s green eyes. The watcher expects her to safe word and Kelly is waiting for her watcher to step in to stop her. Who will say something first? What will happen if no one says anything? The questions will be answered but what happens you will not see coming. I am giving this story 4 Stars

“The top starts spinning....”

What do you say when you get your world rocked... thank you just doesn't cover it.. and honestly not sure I'd say thank you. Tara ...just amazing.. how she writes and still stays sane? From the book opening to its closing...just wow.
You know its so easy for the darkness to form, I don’t think we are born with it but it developed through out our life situations. Kelly craved to escape, she may not have put a name to what she was seeking but to leave ones reality is to escape. Her life is hard and she wants to forget. Miles prolly the same level richness as Midas (winks) is own darkness too many people for him to care for and wanted to forget as well.
Kelly upon getting the number to the club she calls from their the ball is in motion. Her life will drastically change.. but that’s what she wanted yes?..
What a story..the book is about the right length.. some detail but not too much to make you crazy. I don't see where it would be a series so its a awesome stand alone. The BDSM scenes were well written and I loved the extra safety precaution set in place for new\inexperienced people wanting to join the club. I've been reading a lot more dark reads lately and I'm glad to add this one to a book well wrote.
Emotionally not a easy read so careful to the faint of heart.. anyone else grab it !! Read it …! enjoy it. Thank you Tara Crescent for the opportunity to read for you.

***Spoiler free***

This was a great book and I am so glad I read it. A little short, very creative and well delivered.

The storyline is unique and captured BDSM in a different way. It is a dark and emotional read that is not for everyone. I think the BDSM scenes were well written and some were necessarily disturbing.

If you take a step back from the romance and the BDSM (Come on, I know you can do it!!)....there was an intriguing look at the mind and how/why we escape reality. Whether it be by illness or choices, the mind can take many paths and directions. Both Kelly and Miles explore escapism and BDSM and have to choose how far down the rabbit hole they are willing to travel.

I enjoyed the use of the Alice in Wonderland allusions and the phrases from Inception. I've never seen Inception, but the author clarified it enough that worked for me.

The ending was great.

This book is a definite page turner. The book starts could a bit dark, but it sets the scene for the book. I actually really liked the main character, Kelly. She was relatable and interesting to read about. I enjoyed reading about her difficult journey and how the book ended was just perfect!

I'll be the first to admit that I don't read a lot of books that are dark romances. When I do, I rarely find them enjoyable due to certain scenes that I find hard to read about. But this book, although dark erotica, I actually enjoyed reading. There were some graphic parts that unsettled me, the humiliation parts of a scene the main character was taking part of, but not enough for me to stop reading. In fact, I think those scenes were needed for the readers to further understand the main character, Kelly. And they were done well.

I highly recommend this book! The author has a way with words and I think a lot of people should try reading her books.

First and foremost I want to say this book had great potential to be more than 3 stars. I love the idea of a secret kink club where ones wildest fantasy can come true. Kelly wants to escape her reality called life so when she finds out about a club she can live out her darkest facts, why wouldn't she try it out. With a watcher monitoring her scenes Kelly becomes consumed and enjoys having The Watcher watch. Will the darkness consume her or will she be able to keep her light?

As good as this book sounds I felt that it was rushed and confusing at times. I have not seen the movie that was referenced in the beginning so I'm at a disadvantage going in. I was but sure if The Watcher was suppose to be a secret or not but she figures the watcher out right way. I'm my copy there was a format issue where the end sentence on one page was not the on the next one. I'm disappointed that I could not give this book a higher rating but I have to be honest about it

This is my second book that I've read by Tara and although they both involve BDSM this one takes a completely different turn.. I liked this story but I'm not sure if its for me. There were parts in there that had me questioning why she was doing what she was doing. She wasn't enjoying it so why not stop it? I get that she wanted to get away from her life and that everyone reacts different but I didn't enjoy this book as much as I did the other by Tara but everyone has their own tastes and this wasn't mine. I did like the alternate ending. That is unique and I haven't seen that before. I would've like to see more with Kelly and Mile's relationship but this book was about her and the addiction she ends up getting to the darker lifestyle.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This is most definitely the darkest story emotionally I have read, found myself questioning whether I would react in this way of self destruct, but she has a billionaire friend that understands what she needs, takes a while for her, couldn't put this down as I had to know what happens but what a choice,WOW this is by far a great story, it gets you thinking deep and the intense emotions are felt because of how well written this is. Kelly you can relate to, she is in a stressful job, tired and her mum is ill, Miles is her friend and also secret watcher at the club Kelly goes to, I think she is definitely on a destruct path but will Miles be able to save her the right way...... absolutely brilliant read

I received a free copy of this book in exchange for a review.
First, if all the info and warnings above did not tell you, this is explicit and dark erotica. The author does a good job making the reader feel that darkness. I enjoyed most of the book and definitely went on the emotional roller coaster envisioned by the author. Well written, as Tara Crescent’s books usually are, enjoyably unforeseen plot twists and interesting characters. This book brings out the addiction issue not usually addressed in BDSM fiction and parts of the book were almost uncomfortable to read because of how uncomfortable (and not in a good way) the main female character was. I liked the twists at the end. Would recommend to those interested in this subject matter.

Oh, God, this book!! My heart broke for Kelly and her struggles in life, all the responsibilities she had to face day to day. Then, it broke even more when she started in the BDSM club and couldn't seem to figure out where she should stop and say "no". I really don't think she found pleasure or even happiness in it. Sure she got her jollies off but there was no emotions wrapped up in her play time. The whole time she was going through the roles I felt she should have started by finding a Dom suited to her, like Miles. Someone she knew and trusted but it wasn't to be. She kept going down the road to nowhere with more pain and no pleasure. With her Watcher watching she falls more and more into the abyss.

Wow all I can think of is that Kelly Mitchell is one messed up woman.

Kelly goes to Club Phoenix where they do all kinds of DARK BDSM acts on her. She has a Watcher and his name is Miles. Miles waits for Kelly to safeword to stop a scene if needed. I would love to say more but, I don’t like spoilers. Is the fact that Kelly goes to Club Phoenix a cry for help? I think so.

The Watcher is more about the dark side of BDSM. Not a romance book although there are some romance elements.

Please read the NOTE: This is a dark read. Happy endings are optional. While all scenes are consensual, they are filled with harsh sadomasochism, anal play and humiliation.

The Watcher was gifted to me for an honest review. I give The Watcher 4 stars.

A dark intense smoking hot read
Kelly wants to forget, and she lets go by having sex but the sex isn’t on the level she wants. Kelly given the details for the Phoenix Club and she begins her BDSM sessions. As she is new, Kelly is given a watcher. The watcher makes sure it doesn’t go too far.
The BDSM scenes were very dark and written extremely well. You can feel the agony of Kelly’s life radiating off of her in this book. You can see why she wants to forget and what she gets out of the sessions. You can also picture the depths of the green eyes watching her.
I loved this book, it was a great length and you get to pick your ending, which I thought was amazing, so it ended how I wanted it to. If only more where like that!

Can I just say HOT!

Again Tara knows how to write, she gets right to the important parts without all the fluff! LOVE LOVE LOVE! I've read many of Tara's books and they just keep getting better. This is another quick read, because I couldn't put it down.

Kelly has a bleak future ahead of her, since she is the sole care taker of her mom, who is fighting an up hill battle with Alzheimers. The only escape that she has is through sex. Miles, her life long friend offers her a release.

This is a dark novel, but oh so good! Do yourself a favor and pick this book up, or any book by Tara!!

3.5***Great storyline, characters and scenes. Miles and Kelly are childhood friends. I enjoyed both options of an ending to the book. Though I do have lingering questions that will remain partially unanswered. I appreciated the fact that she ends where she began on her journey with The Watcher, watching. If only we all had a physical being watching out for us.....

Definitely a book worth reading! Enjoy.

The Watcher

How dark can it be? How dark do our very own fantasies get and how far are you willing to take them? Can you handle the deepest darkest fantasies you have? Would you use your safe word? Or see how far you can really go? Kelly's journey begins, but Miles is there to be her Watcher. But will he stay with her? Or will he have to walk away as his own Watcher did years ago? A good read, I enjoyed it! Might not be for everyone though.
