Seven days. That’s all Ariana Coleman has to make it through until her husband, Brett, gets home from the uncertain future that his job holds for him. Seven days until she can touch him and they can finally get back to living their lives. One hundred and sixty-eight hours. That’s all that’s left of being apart. Ari has always been one to stick to routine while Brett is deployed. One change that seems harmless leaves her wondering if the outcome is her fault. Will she be able to move on with what she is convinced is her doing? Or will the wrong person showing up on her doorstep send her into a depression so deep there may be no light in sight?
Katheryn was born in Maine and has lived there her entire life. Growing up, she was the only girl out of five children. Out of four loving, but hard-assed, brothers she has been set on fire TWICE, shot at, left with a burning car and a five gallon container of gas, scared out of her mind every time they got behind the wheel, and has enough hilarious stories and amazing memories to fill a million books. It made her independent and every female character she writes reflects strength and independence. Katheryn books are full of page turning suspense, humor, and enough steam to overheat your e-reader. "There are no weak women, just weak moments."

When Ariana gets the worst possible news only seven days from her husband’s return from deployment, her world is turned upside down. This was supposed to be his last deployment and he would be home for good. But just seven days before she gets the dreaded knock at the door.
Unable to deal with her loss, she shuts out everyone close to her, including her best friend Emerson and her husband Brett’s best friend Knox. While Ariana is lost in her grief she finds out that her best friend’s life is now in danger, and she never even had the chance to say goodbye.
Fall Out is a very fast read and an excellent prequel to the first full-length novel in the series, American Made. It sets up the key players for the series and while it is not necessary to have read Fall Out before starting American Made, it will make the friendships and love connections all the more important. I’m glad I was able to start right into American Made upon completion of Fall Out as it was an excellent read and immediately made me care for the characters. As a military spouse I usually go out of my way to avoid military romances, but in this case, I’m glad I took the chance. This is shaping up to be a great series.
Ariana Coleman has a week before her husband Brett comes home for good. She been counting the days of his last deployment and fearing the worse. Seven days when she can touch him again and lives together.
Ari has always stuck to a routine until her best friend Emerson changed her routine. Now she feels a sense of guilt wondering if she should have kept to her routine and her husband would not be dead now.
She finds herself lost in her own world barely surviving. She takes out her anger at her best friend whom she has not spoken to since that fatal day and her husband best friend Knox who watch his friend get ambush and could not save him. She blames him for coming back alive while her husband died two days before his final tour.
How long will she grieve for a husband who is gone and stop blaming herself? Will she be able to move past her grief and find love again? We cannot wait to see what happens to her.
Having read everything else I could find by Cat Mason, and finally Homewrecker that she co-wrote with Katheryn Kiden, which I thoroughly enjoyed, I thought I'd take a look at some of Katheryn's other works.
Looking around, I noticed that she has only very recently released what she's calling a prequel novella, Fall Out, to her new series. (Against the Tides) So, for a dollar, I thought I'd give it ago.
Its short. and one would think it would take a little more than 29 pages to introduce four significant characters, and several minor ones, set the stage and hook the reader into wanting desperately for August 28 to get her that little bit sooner so we can get to know these characters, and their stories better.
Fall Out is a short novella that introduces you to some of the main characters that will appear in American Made so yes it should be read first. I have read many books by this author and she didn't disappoint with this series! I would give this book a huge 4 stars and would highly recommend to others. I will warn you - bring tissues because it is quite heartbreaking, but still a beautiful beginning to a great series. This book shows Ariana's grief ridden journey and it will tear you apart inside but keep in mind this is just the beginning so you will want to find out how things end up for her... so get to one clicking!
OMG!! I cried my eyes out! If this is what is going to happen during American Made, get your tissues ready! This was a short intro to the characters in the series. It was not in any way a long drawn out story, so do not expect it to be. It was a great book none the less...Cannot wait to get on to American Made!!
