Three Only Children

Rate this book
Happiness for Maggie Isabel means a family of her own. Her beautiful home is a dream come true, a far cry from the shotgun house on Dorgenois Street. Most importantly, daughter Gina is thriving at the school where Maggie teaches. There is only one problem:Principal Beverly Ogden's perpetual harassment.
Where is Maggie's older sister when she needs her? She could sure use a good sparring to fire-up her Irish temper. Fate lends a hand and Maggie finds a journal documenting her adolescent struggles following her mother's death and her new life with 21 year older sister.
The journal entries are both comical and tragic, her stress unrelenting. If Maggie can stand up to Ruby, her older sister, why not Beverly Ogden? Teaching is a noble profession, exempt from politics of power. Isn't it??

I am a writer working on a novel at present.Currently, I'm in the revision stage. The novel is based on the same characters I've created in Christmas Connections. The protagonist is Maggie Finn as teacher.

When it comes to movies, I like mysteries, comedies, and love stories, and gangaster movies. I enjoy a good Bruce Willis or Clint Eastwood spaghetti western after a rough day. I love to see bad guys get their due.

My taste in books is as eclectic as my taste in movies. Currently, I am reading Fugue Macabre: Bone Dance, the second in a trilogy of paranormal suspense novels by C.J. Parker. Also The Burgess Boys by Elizabeth Strout and Olive Kitteridge which is a series of related short stories also by Strout.
I am a real fan of literary works and get wrapped up in beautiful description. And most of all I love books about the South which is also the setting of my current novel.

A beautifully descriptive tale that you can get lost in. If you are from New Orleans or spent anytime there you will appreciate this book.
It is a story of perseverance, determination and the reality that even if you do everything right life isn't always fair. It is how you deal with what life gives you that truly matters.

I enjoyed reading about characters that had similarities to characters in my own life. I especially enjoyed the creative and original descriptions in the book.
