After the shocking assassination of one of Earth-2’s most prominent leaders, humanity’s survivors struggle to believe their world can last. Can even Superman help build a society better than their previous world?
A Cherokee citizen, Daniel H. Wilson grew up in Tulsa, Oklahoma. He earned a Ph.D. in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University in Pittsburgh. He lives in Portland, Oregon.
In a split-time story, we learn what happened when the colony ships made planetfall, and one year later as Terry Sloane seeks to activate the Source Vault. Wow, this is a dark book! Hidden traitors and megalomania highlight this story in which the heroes seem outmatched by Terry Sloan and his plans for the new world. While previous series about these characters were pretty dark, this one seems to be have the characters at a real low-point and there isn’t much room for heroics. I hope that turns around because I always enjoyed the JSA characters having a more positive and bright outlook.
So far, the new series has not disappointed me. The setup is still taking place, and some details in the story have not been revealed yet. However, the developing story is promising, and hopefully those who were disappointed with Earth 2: World's End would give its continuation a chance.
