4 Stars SPOILERS AHEAD BE WARNED
OK, let me start off by saying that this is not a book for my safety gang readers. Normally, I may not have even delved into a book like this either but I just felt like being a rebel today, lol. I have my hard limits BUT on occasion, I do test them and veer off of my "usual" reading path. I am so conflicted on this book so let me try and clarify without giving much away either!
I LOVED both Charlie and Jayden. These 2 girls, quickly becoming "women" were the highlight of this book for me. Their backstory was crushing, they came from nothing only to runaway to "nothing" and my heart ached like hell for the both of them. The writing was great because for me I literally read this story with my stomach in knots for both of these girls, especially Charlie. At times, my heart truly "hurt" for her especially when she would have a dash of hope only for it to be gone in a millisecond! Chasen, arghhhhhh, what a DOUCHE of epic proportions. OMG, what he did to her CRUSHED my heart partially only for it to be obliterated by Landon later on!
My issues were not even with Charlie and surprisingly, she was the one who drew my hard limits throughout and yet, I so got her, I totally was invested with her, I so understood why she just had to keep the train moving. She did NOT have a choice, so red flags and all, I was in and loved this girl fiercely and protectively! If I were there, I wouldn't hesitate to knock out anyone who so much as harmed a hair on her head, lolol. That is, Jayden and I would be her bodyguards for sure! Charlie and Jayden were "soul" sisters, I loved their relationship to pieces.
My issues were with Landon. I loved him, hated him, and then LOVED him but yet I still couldn't let go of my resentment towards him. I felt like if he weren't getting revenge on Mick that he never would have found Charlie again. THAT was my issue for sure! He didn't go after her, oh no, he happened upon her and then all of a sudden he becomes the alpha male....I was so confused and conflicted with him and his role....I was conflicted and disappointed in how the author executed that part of the storyline along with his character. I loved them both together, no doubt, I just really wished he had gone after her like she deserved. If he wasn't after Mick...hell he wouldn't have found her and THAT was what bothered me until then end, heck even now as I write this! Yes, he somewhat redeemed himself BUT I couldn't quite move past that major issue in my way.
NOW, I truly HOPE and PRAY for a story on Jayden and hmmmm my guess on the next H....Roman?????? Oh please, I hope so, lol!!!! I love that the author left the ending of this book open to both of these characters, the question is will it be "their" story, lol!!!! I ALSO want MORE of Landon and Charlie, too:) I absolutely am in love with this couple together and I want to see Charlie get everything and more that she deserves!!!!!!!!!! Landon still has some groveling to do for sure ESP with the twist, which by the way, wasn't what I would have liked to see. Wished it had been Miller responsible for Charlie's heartache, heheheh, not saying what but will leave you with that!
