Too Far: Confessions Of A Serial Killer

How far would you go to make the world right?

Jason Thomas once believed he was helping people. As a mental health counselor, he spent his life listening to the broken, the desperate, and the forgotten. But when the system repeatedly fails those who need justice most, Jason begins to believe that someone has to take matters into his own hands.

That belief changes everything.

What starts as an attempt to punish those who escape justice soon becomes something far darker. Jason crosses a line he can never uncross, transforming from counselor into vigilante, and from vigilante into serial killer.

Fifteen people are dead.

Now Jason sits on death row, waiting for the execution that will bring his story to an end. But before the sentence is carried out, he must confront the truth behind the murders, the choices that led him there, and the person he has become.

Was he a monster from the beginning? A man driven too far by a broken system? Or did every decision seem justified until there was no way back?

Too Confessions of a Serial Killer is a dark psychological thriller that takes readers deep inside the mind of a killer wrestling with guilt, morality, identity, justice, and the consequences of playing judge and executioner.

The most frightening question may not be why Jason killed.

It may be how easily he convinced himself that he was right.

Too Far: Confessions of a serial killer by Dave Block centers around Jason Thomas. Jason is a mental health counselor who prides himself on listening snd helping his clients. After trying to help his clients through the proper channels, and seeing that come to a dead end time after time, Jason takes matters into his own hands. Now Jason is sitting on death row, after murdering 15 people, with an old friend of his making a documentary about how he got there. In his final days, he reflects on how he got their, guilt, and rationalizes how he became judge and jury.

I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion and review.

I loved this book and found the premise absolutely facinating. This book gripped my attention from the beginning and didnt let go, definitely recommend!

Too Far: Confessions of a Serial Killer is a dark, fast-moving look at what happens when a man decides the rules no longer apply to him. Jason’s death-row interviews pull readers through his excuses, his rage, and the moments when he begins to realize how far he has fallen. It is unsettling because he never sees himself as the villain for as long as he should, and that makes every confession hit harder. This is a story that I could definitely see working on the big-screen.

Jason Thomas is not an easy person to spend time with, and that is exactly what makes this book work. His dark humor, defensiveness, guilt, and certainty that he was helping his clients create an unnerving portrait of a man who kept finding new ways to excuse the unforgivable. Readers who enjoy crime fiction centered on motive, consequence, and unreliable self-judgment will want to pick this one up.

A death-row confession becomes a disturbing examination of justice, guilt, and the lies a killer tells himself in Too Far: Confessions of a Serial Killer. As Jason Thomas revisits the murders he once believed were justified, the truth behind his actions becomes harder to escape.
