What happens when you expose someone carrying an infection-based form of vampirism to a werewolf disease? It's something Gabriel and Lex never even imagined having to answer.
Coming home for the summer didn't exactly provide the vacation Gabby was hoping for. In the middle of a stressful fight, he freaks out and attempts to replicate the gift he used to meet Lex three years ago, despite repeated failures. It works.
Landing in a new world, that conundrum is carved into Gabby's skin. Will they cancel each other out? Gabby hopes so. If not, then he's going to have a whole new problem on his hands—or claws—if he can even find his way home!
The worst part is, that isn't even the last big question in store for his family. Everything he knows is about to change. Of course, no matter what his first feelings may be, change isn't always bad. Sometimes, it's the very thing you didn't know you needed.
H.S. Kallinger has been actively writing (on paper) since he was 13 and was first published in a teaching magazine in high school. Further success followed winning first in state in the Young Playwrights of America contest with their play, "Lullaby." His favorite subject tends to be vampires, which he has maintained an affinity for for more than half of his life (and long before it was 'cool'), but they love most of the fantasy and sci-fi genres. A scientist at heart, they enjoy looking for the 'why' behind everything. The unifying theme to their works is LGBTQIA+ characters, a subject they are passionate about. He majored in Criminal Justice with a minor in psychology and lives in Kansas with his husband, children, and kitties, who fill them with love.
I absolutely enjoyed every minute spent in this fantastical world of supernatural beings! This book (series) is the reason I read fantasy, urban or otherwise. It takes me to a place with such rich diversity and fascinating characters that I am truly sad when I get to the final page. Kallinger is especially gifted in creating characters that show up fully fleshed and completely real, even when they're mythical beings. I want to explore other worlds and this is how I do it. It's a perfect escape from the banal horror of modern mundane life. Tired of the terrible news everywhere? Go on an adventure with Gabby and friends! I highly recommend it!
