The following happens directly after the end of Monarch.
The Monarch Killer has inspired a growing movement of vigilantes called The Flutter. As these communities grow and expand, loyalties are tested and the line between becoming a hero or ending up as the monster in his own story. With danger closing in from every direction, The Monarch has to come to terms with the legacy he created and decide whether redemption is even possible.
A dark psychological thriller about the cost of playing judge, jury, and executioner.
I was given the opportunity to read this as an ARC by the author, Erik Fox.
This is supposed to be the end, but I WANT MORE. I want more of these characters. I want more of this story. I want more of EVERYTHING.
I simultaneously love and hate this book. I love watching characters get completely dissolved and rebuilt into something new, something different, something more. There’s something fascinating about watching people be broken down and transformed, especially when you’re not entirely sure what they’ll become on the other side.
But cowardice? I despise it. And there’s one particular character who absolutely did not get their just desserts nearly enough for my liking. I have some unresolved feelings about that, and I reserve the right to be salty about it.
Monarchs symbolize transformation, rebirth, and change. Stinkbugs, on the other hand, are associated with survival, self-protection, and boundaries. But what happens when the thing you need protection from isn’t an outside force? What happens when the threat comes from within?
How do you protect yourself from something you can’t escape?
Erik Fox, you may have intended this to be the end, but I am not ready to let these characters go. Not even a little bit.
ONG. Flutter had me going through all the emotions. From the beginning it pulls you in and it kept me in a choke hold til the very end. There were twists and turns every page. Definitely one of my favorite books. I’m sad to see the end of the Monarch series but it is forever imprinted in my soul. I absolutely loved it
I’m so lucky to have gotten an ARC copy of this masterpiece from Erik. It’s no surprise to me that I absolutely LOVED this book. Four parts of amazing connections and going back to both Monarch and Gimbals. It had the perfect amount of gory details and an interesting storyline that it completely got me out of my reading slump. The conclusion fit perfectly for what Harken would have wanted if he had any say.
Do yourself a favor and read this book and join in my audible gasps while reading.
This was an ARC from the author. I want to thank Erik Fox for the opportunity to read this before publication.
This is the conclusion of the Monarch story. We continue from where we left off previously with Connor and Georgia on the run. Throughout the story we get introduced to numerous new characters as well as getting reacquainted with characters from the other books.
The best way to describe the main part of the book would be to think about Project Mayhem but for serial killers. As you can imagine, things go off the rails when Connor realizes things aren’t what they seem and everyone he knows in his life is in danger.
I really enjoyed this conclusion and how everything eventually wrapped up. I’m sad to see this story end overall as it was really well done and was a great trilogy.
