The Enchanted Atlas of Fortune and Fate is one of those stories that feels like stepping into a world stitched together from ink, magic, and secondhand book dust. Tempest Glass is such a wonderfully relatable heroine — stubborn, wounded, fiercely attached to the bookshop that should have been hers. I loved how the novel begins with that heartbreak: Owl’s Books slipping out of her hands, not because she wasn’t worthy, but because her stepfather inherited something he never understood. It’s a quiet betrayal, and the book lets you feel every inch of it.

So Tempest runs — not away from her life, but toward something she doesn’t yet recognise. A bus full of secondhand books, her opinionated parrot familiar Fortune, and the enchanted atlas her mother left her. The atlas is such a lovely magical device: blank pages that begin to fill themselves, guiding her across the country with a kind of gentle, knowing purpose. The line “Trust the book that brought you here. It’s known you since time began” captures the tone perfectly — whimsical, comforting, and threaded with destiny.

Tempest’s gift as a book witch is one of my favourite elements. The way she can touch a well‑loved novel and feel its whole story humming beneath her fingertips gives the book a soft, enchanted intimacy. It’s magic rooted in love of reading, in the emotional weight books carry, and it makes her journey feel deeply personal.

The road trip itself is delightful — cosy, magical, and full of small discoveries. When the atlas leads her to Primrose Court, the story blooms. The tavern, the magical community, the sense of stepping into a place that feels both strange and familiar — it all has that warm fantasy charm that makes you want to linger. And then there’s Dan Wilder, the shy trivia buff with a slow‑burn shifter secret. Their connection is gentle, awkward in the sweetest way, and threaded with the kind of quiet longing that suits Tempest’s bruised heart.

What I enjoyed most is how the book balances whimsy with emotional depth. Tempest isn’t just chasing magic; she’s reclaiming her inheritance, her identity, and the legacy her mother meant her to have. The found family she gathers along the way — magical misfits, kind strangers, people who see her clearly — gives the story its warmth. And the mystery at the heart of the atlas adds just enough tension to keep the pages turning.

I was fascinated by the cover of the book and the blurb and requested it without realizing it is part of a series. Even while reading, it's only till I reached about 30% of the book that I realized there's a backstory to this book and that there are 3 other books prior to this. Fortunately, I had read the first book, so I had a bit of context, and this book doesn't require the past story to follow the current story. Tempest Glass is a person of her own, just like this book, and you'll be able to comfortably follow her story without knowing what had happened previously with Maida and her family. However, for purists like me, maybe it will help to go back and read through in order.

Anyway, Tempest really does have a talent. She can remember trivia from various books. I feel like I do too. There are some random things that I remember from books, like you shouldn't put too much pressure while pooping or you could have a heart attack. I don't know why I know this but I do, and I am always careful while pooping.

The journey that Tempest has after leaving the bookstore that she feels she was destined to, and finding a destiny for herself, is a journey we all wish for. Not only the bookstore one, but the one where you feel everything you ever wished for is gone, only to realize that what's come instead is what your heart actually wanted.

There are also journeys that we take with Dan and Amrita, and although those journeys are fun too, I was more fascinated with Tempest's journey. Dan's journey doesn't take much time in the book. Amrita does go on a very strange adventure where she ends up being separated from Buffalo for a long time, but embarks on something never done before. Those journeys are nice, but not as engaging as Tempest's. Along with Fortune the parrot and a school bus filled with books, going to various towns for trivia competitions, that is one journey worth listening to.

It's slow, it's too much details, but it's fun and if you just give it enough time, it'll grow on you.

Would I recommend it?
I'd recommend The Enchanted Atlas of Fortune and Fate if you're the kind of reader who doesn't mind a slow build, because once Tempest's story gets going, it really does grow on you. The road trip structure, the trivia competitions, Fortune the parrot, all of it adds up to something genuinely fun even when it takes its time getting there. Mark your calendar for October 15, this one's worth adding to your TBR before it drops.

I don't know how I've never heard of this series before. This was my introduction to the world, and I couldn't have wished for better! I love cosy stories, and stories about books and magical beings, and this one had all three and more. It took a while to start, but I loved all the world building and getting to know the witches and shifters and fairies hiding in plain sight in our world.
I laughed, I cried, I loved learning about all the random trivia and witch practices. I certainly didn't expect there to be time travel, but I was so happy it happened!! I won't spoil anything, but they traveled back in time to my favorite period, and I loved every single second of it. The mixture of different mythologies was great and felt very organic, and I loved the Fates being badass biker chicks in the present day, I think it suits them really well!
The only reason this isn't 5 stars is that I thought the ending was a bit rushed. I felt like maybe a last chapter was missing with a glimpse into the characters' lives after the whole story was resolved. That being said, I still liked that it was the MCs own version of drifting off into the sunset.
Now, I really wish I could be a book witch...

I finished reading the ‘Enchanted atlas of fortune and fate’ book by Ciara Blume and it was a fun magical book. It is #4 in the series.!! It can be read as a stand alone book. Then, like me you will want to ho back to the beginning of the series to continue the magic.

This is a very creative story and it really transported me and gave me a permanent smile so many times as I was reading.

This is a must read. Add this to your Hallow-Reads TBR, it comes out Oct 15th

A nice book to get cosy!

„The Enchanted Atlas“ by Ciara Blume is the fourth book in the Natural Magic series of interconnected stories.

Writing: 5/5
The book sets up a cosy mood because of its atmospheric and immersive writing.

Characters: 3/5
I had a hard time to get an overview of all characters but I think if you read the previous book, you will be able to follow a lot easier.
Generally, I liked all characters but it was all more surfsce level for me. I didn‘t conpletely warm up to any of the MCs.

Plot: 3/5
To be honest, the plot was a bit confusing at times. I liked the basic idea of the book, the magic world and the cosy mood, but the story didn‘t catch me. I really wanted to like it and tried to keep an open mind but the whole trivia thing was too much special interest for me. The second storylinr (time travel) was interesting but the connection was reveiled too late, so that it felt lile reading two different stories. That made it kind of hard to keep up and exhausting to switch from chapter to chapter.

Romance: 3.5/5
If you like a fantasy book that doesn’t mainly focus on the lovestory but rather on the story and chracters, this is the book for you. The first big part of the book focuses on the MCs‘ lives and struggles. They almost meet once but ultimately get to meet only much later. I was like „Urgh can they meet already?!“ the whole time. But I guess, therefore it was at least captivating. Nevertheless, I would have preferred an earlier meet cute. I love slowburn but if they only meet 60% into the story, does that even count?

All in all, it was a nice book. I would rate it 3.5 stars because, to be honest, I was kind of bored at times but I also enjoyed the writing and the set-up. I can only rate the book as a standalone because I have not read any other book of the series. I can imagine that I would have liked it better as part of a series. Maybe I will pick up one of the other Natural Magic book when I‘m in a mood for a cosy book and give it a try.

The Enchanted Atlas of Fortune and Fate is an adorable cozy fantasy, served with a side dish of trivia, mythology, and history. Tempest, a book witch, sets out on a journey across the US after losing her book shop to her evil stepfather (and a little help from Fate.) To earn a living she starts competing in trivia competitions, which puts her in the path of lion shifter and trivia champion Dan. I felt the author did a really good job conveying the mutual yearning between these characters, considering how little they actually know and interact with each other. The parallel story of the Alexandria rescue mission added depth to the lore of Tempest's ancestry, and I found Amrita and her love story really sweet as well.

I have not read the other books in the Natural Magic series but don't think it impacted my enjoyment of this book. A perfect, cozy, fall read!

I really enjoyed this new Primrose Court book, though a lot of it was spent outside the court and on Tempest's journey. Both Tempest and Dan were great characters, and I love that they connected through trivia and Dan's book in a really unique way. And while this book is connected to Primrose Court and has prior characters that show up, it is a stand-alone story and you don't need to have read any of the previous books before diving into this one.

One thing I ended up really liking about the book was how the initial storylines seemed to be completely separate, but then partway through they began to coalesce into a cohesive storyline. I'm not going to spoil it, but there's some really fun revelations about Tempest and her ancestry in the historical plot sections.

Overall, a fun cozy witchy fantasy for fall!

Author Ciara Blume wrote a clever fantasy with The Enchanted Atlas of Fortune. I really enjoyed the deep level of family dynamics Tempest has with her family and the unique bookstore that caters to those magically gifted by just to your average everyday people. Tempest's gift is something both curse like in its problem that no reader would ever want but it adds this level of quirkness not only grounding Tempest to be real as a character but to whole off beat adventure Tempest finds herself forced out upon to have in the first place. The Atlas itself is its own character and a beautiful symbol to life's unexpected journey to discovering oneself and passions.

This cozy fantasy is truly an enchanting voyage. Tempest Glass, book witch, loses the bookshop she should have inherited from her mother, and heads off on a journey eastward from Portland, Oregon with her book bus, her enchanted atlas, and her parrot.
Tempest’s story is intertwined with Dan, a lion shifter, who is also a trivia competition champion and opening his dream pub in Boston. Another branch of the story involves a trip to the past to rescue tomes from the famous Library of Alexandria.
Each of the stories is fascinating and intertwined and the book was such fun to read! I haven’t read the earlier stories in this series and it works very well as a stand-alone.

I really enjoyed this cozy fantasy. Although it’s part of the Natural Magic series and I haven’t read the previous books, I was still able to follow and appreciate the story. I was most invested in Tempest and Dan’s storyline, but I enjoyed seeing how the other characters and storylines eventually came together to create a fuller story.

This was a charming read with interesting characters, and it made me curious enough that I may go back and read some of the earlier books in the series. I’d recommend it to anyone who enjoys cozy fantasy with a little magic and a cast of characters whose stories intertwine.
