I enjoyed this well told short novella, which lets us feel how alone a mail order bride must have been, at the end of the War Between The States. She is heading out to a place between Cheyenne and Laramie - where My Friend Flicka was set - to marry a former soldier she only knows through letters. On her way to the ranch with her new husband, a tornado bears down on their cart.

This is a great romance read and very evocative of the times. I also find that it's suitable for any age of reader. Enjoy.

Nice quick read

The was a nice quick read. It was a good story, that kept my attention. I think short stories are a bit hard to write, but the Author did a good job. It's worth the read, if you have a short amount of time, and want to be entertained.

Well written

Too many mail order bride stories are so badly done (using language never used at the time, etc) that I cannot even read them. This is a notable exception and not too preachy. Thanks! I enjoyed it.

This book has so much potential to be exciting, interesting, and compelling.

However, the brevity restricts the enrichness that could have been gleaned. Therefore, even though I enjoyed the characters, plot, and conclusion - I deducted for the brevity.

My first ever pioneer western book that I have ever read. I really enjoyed the story and the characters were really good too. I'm really starting to learn about the life back then. I didn't realise that there were marriages arranged by two complete strangers. Would love to find out more about this.

I was a little disappointed as I felt that the book had a lot of the story missing. It was the main adventure then a big gap missing then an ending. I think I would have liked the book to have been longer. I felt like I wanted to know more about his reaction to the lie. Also more about how their romance blossomed from complete strangers to falling in love at the end. I would have liked to get to know each of the two characters a little better. That's just my opinion anyway, other than those things it was a lovely short read and I'm looking forward to more from the series

This is an outstanding historical, clean romance, Mail-Order-Bride story. In 1851 Summer Percy traveled by train from Pennsylvania to Laramie, Wyoming. She is seeing Beauregard Kearny for the first time. In the wagon on the way home, Beau looked up at the sky and warned Summer they may need to take cover, a tornado was coming their way.

This was the best short story that I have read in long time.. The description of the tornado was spot on, believe me I have lived through one. The story was about the storm, how they helped each other, they talked of their past lives, their secrets and became close.. I could not put the book down. I enjoyed this book and I am looking forward to reading more of Katie Wyatt's books. This is a good read for all ages, young and old. If you are looking for a good book to read, look no further this is it.

Summer with a secret escapes out west to try her luck as a mail-order bride. Met by a past Civil War officer and now US Marshal/rancher, unfortunately after getting married, a tornado totally upends them. But when her secret is revealed, will it make a difference in their new relationship? Was drawn in by the description of the tornado and its effect on them, but felt somewhat unfulfilled by the quick and sudden ending of the book. However, it's a good sweet and clean bedtime read for those who enjoy this genre.

Summer was all alone in the world when she accepted an offer from Beauregard Kermey, a US Marshall in Wyoming. After the marriage they left for his ranch about fifity miles away and a tornato over took them. Her husband was injured with a broken leg that she set then walked the fifteen or miiles back to town to get a doctor. She brought back help, took care of her husband until he healed and he forgave her lie. After facing Summer's Fury they found love and happiness. Sweet western story..

Summer and Beau are the kind of characters I like to read about. She's a strong woman - the difficulties of her past have made her even stronger. He's strong both physically and emotionally, but instead of being intimidated by her strength he appreciates it. This is a very quick read, so we're not able to see the development of their relationship. As others have noted, there were editing issues: run on sentences, misplaced modifiers, and changing tenses. Still, it's not a bad read.

An entertaining, edge of the seat novella

My first book by Katie Wyatt and I am not a big fan of mail order bride books! But this short story have me a different aspect of this genre. An action packed tale to say the least. It's amazing what transpired for Summer and Beau in a few brief hours. A quick, easy read that keeps you on the edge until the final page. I would recommend this book for almost anyone. God is very present in Summer's life.

Summer’s Fury, the first book in Ms. Wyatt’s Pioneer Wilderness series, is an inspiring, touching short story featuring a mail order bride, a secret, and a dramatic act of nature. A smoothly flowing plot, engaging characters, sweet romance, and a subtle faith thread make this an entertaining, satisfying read despite its brevity. If you are looking for a quick and enjoyable historical western read, try this one.

This was such a good book! I loved the plot of the story, seeing how Summer went from spoiled to really growing up. I was so entranced by the story that I couldn’t put the book down until I finished. The meeting of her intended to the tornado all kept me spell bound. Will definitely read more by this author!

1851 in Wyoming, Summer Percy from Pennsylvania travels by train to Laramie to marry the local US Marshall, Beauregard Kearney.

US Marshall Beauregard Kearny (What a Name) has a menacing smile. Summer, petite and feisty - two interesting qualities. I enjoyed this fast read. Took me into yesteryear. Loved it!

I really enjoyed this clean, Historical, Western Romance. I voluntarily chose to review this story. I've given it a 5* rating. I enjoyed the detail during the storm and how much they protected each other in the only ways that they could. I'm ready for the next one in this series.

Good novella

This was a quick, fun novella to read. In this short book, you really got to know the characters and their background . It was a good start to what could be a very good series.

great short book

Katie writes in an interesting and enjoyable style. I enjoy a good story written without sexual inuendo and promiscuity. I like the way Katie includes actual historical fact with some artistic license. Thank you, Katie!

A fast read with no let ups.

I liked that it kept moving and that, though it appeared it was impossible for it to come out well, it did. I KNOW they all do but this one, right up to the end, looked like it wasn’t!

Too short

It was just getting good when the story ended. Wish there had been more story line about how their relationship grew.

I liked this book, the romance was nice but Summer's character was very well written. I wished for more though, this felt like the beginning of a series about Summer's life as a mail order bride.
