Miranda March wears her extraordinary beauty like a mask to conceal her emotional vulnerability. A successful small businesswoman, she might appear to be in control of her universe, but ever in the back of her mind is the one thing that can yank the rug out from under her at any moment: Her mother who suffers from mental illness.

Enter handsome, sensual—and rich—Harvey (Tack) Tackett, a friend of a friend, in town overnight on business. The instant they meet, Miranda feels a connection that stirs her to break one of the rules she lives by—no foolish flings with men passing in the night. After a night of passionate lovemaking like she’s never known, profound emotions emerge. She believes the feeling is mutual. But Tack leaves town without so much as a call and she hears no more from him. As she struggles to overcome her disappointment, she learns her mother has sunk into a depression that calls for immediate attention. Miranda has no choice but to move Mom in to live with her. Her life will never be the same.

From out of the blue, Tack reappears. But it’s too late. Miranda is committed to her duty to her mother. Trying to have a romantic relationship with Tack or any man would be as hard as mixing oil and water. She has already tried and failed at that. Can she solve the conundrum and find a happy-ever-after with Tack?

The sound and feel of the blurb for Desired was interesting enough that I requested this one straight away. I was attracted to the notion of a young, hardworking, somewhat vulnerable woman being swept away in a passionate encounter with a rich, handsome business man, with the added mystery of his disappearing act.

I have to admit I was disappointed I did not enjoy it as much as I had hoped. In essence I can pinpoint it to not being able to engage with the main characters. Although I acknowledge there was an endearing vulnerability to Miranda, I also felt she was incredibly naive. Tack was direct in his approach, which I usually have no problem with but on this occasion personally there was a little charm missing.

However that being said, I feel Desired would appeal to audiences that read and thoroughly enjoyed Fifty Shades of Grey.

Miranda meets Tack at an open house where she works. The immediate attraction is sizzling between them. Where the very live wire of interest and sexual spark is like a living thing between them.

She dutifully shows him the choices of condos. Including the penthouse, where they stall for time and a bit of flirting. She is overwhelmed by her feelings for him. Very aware he is the type of man she can fall for, she steers the conversation more professional.

Tack surprises her by coming back later to tell her of his interest. He believes they both know what they want so why not have it? She worries it would make her seem cheap and easy. She is supposed to work here, after all. Yet it seems he does not want to take a "no" for an answer.

While they both feel the attraction and sizzle and turn up the heat between them - is there even a future for her with a man who is as wild as his nature? Miranda has her own past with problems and family that drag her down. Can the two of them see beyond the passion to what they could hold in their hand? Both of the being hurt in the past has made them fear to trust.

A rich story with complex characters. I loved the way the characters seemed to be fated to come together. Good story and interesting start to the series. I am eagerly awaiting the next book!

This book was incredibly HOT. Anna Jeffrey really knows how to hook her readers with a steamy romance, that's for sure.

Miranda, who is a very strong, independent, and hard working woman, is working an open house for her friend Drake Lockhardt, showing his condo's that he has available in his new building Skyline. Although she's not a Realtor, she does have her own event planning business called Gala, where she provides nothing but the absolute best when it comes to her clients social functions and/or dressing up condo's that are for sale.

When Drake's friend Harvey (Tack) Tackett shows up to take a look at the available condo's, he and Miranda make an instant connection. But instead of acting on their obvious chemistry, they go through the motions of playing Realtor and potential buyer. Then he leaves with Drake to go look at some horses, leaving Miranda in a fog of missed opportunity, where she thinks of Tack all day and only him.

...until he comes back to Skyline at the end of the day to find Miranda closing up shop. Then all bets are off the table for the night. Unfortunately, though, after their steamy night together Miranda doesn't hear from Tack, then the reality of having to go deal with her ill mother sets in, and she consumes herself with that.

I gotta say I really enjoyed this book, once again I liked that Ms. Jeffrey adds characters from her other books, and sort of keeps them around so you really don't have to say goodbye to them after you've finished reading their story. This book had a great flow, it moved right along and didn't drag. The sex was great, and now I can't wait to find out what happens next with these two in the next book!

Desired is the first installment in Anna Jeffrey's Miranda's Chronicles collection. Miranda is your average woman, hard-working, loves her family and tries to fit the persona her life and company has created for her. Miranda's hard work has paid off, she now owns her own event planning company Gala where she has landed the gig of staging and helping to sell high-end condos. Enter Harvey (Tack) Tackett, a modern cowboy who has made his money in the oil business. Tack attends the open house Miranda is working and the sparks immediately start flying. After the open house is over Miranda is locking up the condos when Tack reappears. He tells Miranda she cannot deny the attraction they are feeling for each other and offers her a night she soon won't forget.

I was a little torn with how to rate this book. While I did enjoy the concept of the story I felt a little lost sometimes. I felt like I was supposed to know some of the character backgrounds going into the story which was not true. The story also just stopped and left me thinking what?!?!? I take it the book will pick up where it left off in the 2nd installment but I just wish there had been a bit more of the story told in this book before it just stopped. Overall, I would probably recommend this book but I definitely would warn anyone wanting to read it that you will be hanging until the next one comes out.

I received an ARC of this book compliments of the publisher and Barclay Publicity via NetGalley for my honest review and opinion. All ratings and opinions stated are my own.

I liked Miranda she was easy to identify with. She's a hardworker and I felt she was real and I wanted her to be happy. He seemed like he had potential. I thought it was going to be a good read, whilst it was easy to read and had pace, the story wasn't great for me.

I didn't believe bits of it, the penthouse start and the hotel. As for the story of the mother - she wouldn't just move. The ending seemed like it was going to go somewhere but then it ended! I feel the story had real potential and I think it will improve.

Personally I'm not overly keen on these novella trilogies I'd prefer one book.

Thank you netgalley for an ARC in return for an honest review

Very Steamy!
This book was a very enjoyable read and I was hooked right from the start, I really found myself relating to the characters. I very much liked Miranda and she is a lovely character, strong, hard working and very independent. She is just so real. The writing is good, well paced and flowed easily, carrying me along with the story. There was a terrific heat and instant electric chemistry with Tack and I can't wait to see where the story leads to next. I was given a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
