This is a book that I took my time reading ... one chapter here and there with time to ponder its precepts and teachings. I plan to read it again soon, this time with the Book of Mormon in hand for cross-referencing.
Quotes to remember:
"The Book of Mormon will feed a person only if that person comes to its pages hungry."
"Our motivation for reading the Book of Mormon should be based upon our hunger for the text, not a fear of reprisal."

I have a lot of quotes marked, but it felt like a long read.

I really liked this book. When reading this you must understand that these are Jack Christinason's lessons from the book of Mormon and not necessarily your own. Every person will gain something different from the Book of Mormon, however I did love some of the insights that Jack had. Great read. recommended for 12 and up because of some of the complexities.

At long last, we finished this one! :)

Jeff and I have been reading this book together on Sunday afternoons when we have time for probably over a year now. It’s a good one to initiate discussion and deep pondering on ones life values, beliefs, morals and how we can use ancient scripture to inform our day to day living in a modern world.

What I enjoyed most about reading this book with my husband was that it prompted some wonderful discussion for us. I loved this book when I first read it in the early 2000’s, and while my beliefs have matured, evolved and become more nuanced in the past 20 years, I still find this book to be a good one!

I really liked this book. I don't think it was exactly what I was expecting but it was still very good. It helped me relate more with the people in the stories and changed the perspective to make their trials and how they dealt with them more applicable to me. It also reminded me how good I've got it and how grateful I should be for that.

Great book. Spells out exactly WHY a lifelong study of the Book of Mormon is so important. Plus there are numerous connections the authors make that are applicable to our daily lives.
