Colosseum University—in this arena, paranormals of different species battle to climb a caste system the rest of the world doesn’t even know about.
Students are taught it’s a fight to the death to survive, humans who dare visit will probably get eaten by more than lions… And two men may enter, but only one can finish first.
Long ago, packs, covens, and the rest of a failing social system were done away with. Instead, crests were implemented, to sprinkle the species equally, while also forcing each new generation to spread their wings, and parents, who might never die, from forever controlling their children.
And for someone like Doyle McCready, who knows he’s nothing but a pawn to his parents, the only way to be free of them is to build a crest strong enough… Even if it’s full of issue-laced people like himself. It’s not like Doyle would risk what they’ve built on a whim when he’s committed to their current path. What man would do something as foolish as that for a gorgeous stranger?
So annoying...felt like I was just getting into the story and it ended at 75%!!!!!
Great story and good characters but it only felt like half a book - now I know this is the beginning of a series and things are just getting started but usually that means moving on to another couple and Kisten and Doyle NEED another book with them as the MC's.
Will keep an eye out for the next book and see what happens then.
Overall I was loving this different take on the paranormal world and ideas of the crest system, also enjoyed how Kisten (not a big fan of the name, too feminine!) and Doyle relationship wasn't all hearts and flowers at first but that they had to work for it.
When I bought this I was led to believe it was a GAY paranormal romance. It's not! Hateful main character that states flat out that guy are just holes and mouths that can't get pregnant and while he's traveling he does human girls because he can't get them pregnant. SMH.... Nope! Not for me.
Another interesting new world from the awsome mind of Flynn Eire.
Doyle McCready is now a Senior at Colosseum University and has the top ranked Crest in the school. As such, he gets first pick of the incoming freshman to join his 'family'. Kisten Park has gone through hell for most of his life. Being labeled as a 'bastard' and therefore shunned, he is both confused and elated that Doyle chooses him for his crest.
I love how Doyle goes by his gut rather that research alone. He takes in Kisten not knowing anything about him, or knowing his strengths. When Kisten tells him that because of this bastard status, neither does he, Doyle says he will do anything to help him find his passion.
