Robert Stone. They call him “Stone” because he’s hard as a rock. He’s sexy, debonair and arrogant as f*ck. A sexy, dangerous rival for power in the city that never sleeps. He sits on top of an empire looking down at the world…and now he’s my stepbrother. Our history has been one dangerous game of cat and mouse. My business is in trouble and a merger is the only solution. I’ll be screwed if this merger falls through…and maybe even if it does. The heat between us is unbearable. If that volcano between his legs erupts we’ll both get scorched. I have to resist or my upcoming marriage will be shattered. I can’t afford to get STONED.
This is normally something I wouldn't read until fully published because 1. not a fan of cliffhangers and 2. way too short
BUT, Cynthia Sharon asked for my honest opinion sooooo stay tuned ...
OK...so here's the skinny *snickers* ... Cynthia Sharon has potential. There's obvious edit problems that bug me because she probably paid well to have this edited but that never influences my reviews. What does influence it is the writing style, the development, and overall voice of the story.
This wasn't perfect, in my opinion, the kiss was like reading a boy coming up to a girl in the school hall and stealing a kiss ...awkward lol and the orgasm felt out of place ... like it was just written in there with no lead to it, again awkward.
But I'll tell you what was good ... her development of not only the story (so far) and both Allison and Robert. I know where this is going, so that's a good sign. I don't know how it's going to get there, also a good sign because it makes it not predictable in a trope that's been done a thousand times before...hopefully all you future readers will understand what I'm trying to tell ya there LOL The best part so far is the POV. It's in both Robert's and Allison's so I get to experience them both (always a plus) and Cynthia Sharon made sure I knew exactly who they were. She developed both Allison and Robert perfectly and told me just enough about each of them to hook me into ... cannot WAIT to read more ... that's potential kids.
SO one-click this installment ... it's not a full story, but you'll be hooked ;) #TRUST
Write a book not a bunch of tiny chapters they you pretend is a book the try and sell the next “book” with a crappy cliffhanger. The plot is crap and the characters are wholly one dimensional. This author is going on my do not read list. Not worth the time to read crap like this.
Book cover didn't really match the book... Awesome title, but then again, it didn't really go with the image of the main character. I didn't feel a connection with either main character, but the dialogue got witty during Roberts parts
Another book that is not whole story. Oh and by the way it takes 9 books to get the whole story. Bull crap, if you can't write the whole story in 1 book give up. It is just not worth the time. I am done with authors that do this type of thing. I don't care if their publishers are so greedy. We readers get sick of them living the high life while we struggle, screw that. Oh and you might want to slow down when writing because you are making to many typos and your stupid publishers aren't good enough to catch them. Wow just wow.
Audiobook review: Stoned is a very short story introducing Allison and Robert, competitors in marketing, who meet at a conference. Flames of passion are ignited then a bombshell is dropped. The story ends on a cliffhanger...I really dislike cliffhangers. The narrator did a good job.
It grabbed me from the start and didn't let go. The dynamics between the two are amazing and you can feel the anticipation and sparks before they even actually meet each other. I can't wait to read the next one in the series.
I loved Allison and her attitude. Stone from what I can tell is exactly what it says he is a jerk. Will they get together and if so will Allison be just another notch on his belt ? I liked that their parents actually called so they wouldn’t be worried.
I was starting to like this story....but then it ended. Allison is kissed by Arrow, and when he comes to apologize, he kisses and fingers her to climax. This was all build up and no resolution. Not a standalone. This is part 1 of 9.
Just read stone wow can't wait to see what happens next its great quick read . Ends in cliff hanger but ya got have something for next book don't ya can't wait
New author and narrator for me. Already wishing this series was compiled into one novel. This was the introductory book, setting up the scene with a bit of steam. Warning for cheating.
How hot is this book? Let me count the ways. In STONED: A Billionaire Stepbrother With Benefits Romance (My Stepbrother's Keeper Book 1) by Cynthia Sharon we meet Robert Stone and Allison Shepard.
She's in advertising, in New York who's been demoted to working on Wally Weasel (think Chuck-e-Cheese). He's in advertising, in New York who's just scored a major win with a campaign that just hit the streets. It was Allison's campaign until Stone swooped in and stole it from under her nose...it's no surprise that their worlds collide one way or another.
And collide they do!
If it wasn't a small world to begin with, it gets even smaller when her mother marries his father in a impromptu wedding only days after the two meet.
Can you say, 'awkward'...especially when the kids of the newly weds are sleeping with each other! Well, technically they are not "sleeping" with each other. She's happily engaged and he just ended it with a woman. As we delve further into the series we find that she's not so happily engaged, and she didn't even know it! He's not satisfied either, especially with the way that his "love" life has been going and when Allison enters, it takes everything that he has to stay away from the one whose promised to someone else.
The entire series draws you in from beginning to end and before you know it, two days of your life have blissfully passed by. This is what happened to me and it is a tough thing to do. Only two to three other authors that I know of today that hold this sort of "sucking days of my life away" power over me and Ms. Sharon is one of them. I hope that comes across as a compliment because it completely is. The time, the story, the everything just flies when I read this book.
Don't wait, snatch it up while it's free on Amazon!
I have read other stepbrother novellas and series, but this one promises to be more. Stone is as arrogant as they come. He has been on a winning streak practically all his life. His entitled demeanor can be irritating if he were not a charmer. This man will charm the pants off anyone!
Allison is trying to stay on the straight and narrow, but this man is dangerous. Her fiance is foremost on her mind, but she realizes that there is a certain amount that is lacking in their relationship. Perhaps things just need to be stirred up a bit with Tom so things will improve. Guilt is a powerful motivator to remain faithful to her fiance.
I am hooked on this story! The complications are about to get worse! How do you deal with the obvious attraction to Stone when his mother is married to your father?
For such a short story, "Stoned" was well-developed. The author managed to cram in a lot of exposition into very few pages so that, right off the bat, we know what the H and h do for a living, we know what the conflict situation is, and the H and h do have one significant interaction. I really enjoyed the book and was disappointed that it ended so soon. I literally read the entire thing in 15 minutes; I consider it just the setup of the full story. I really, really want to find out what happens next.
Cynthia Sharon, I wish you'd included the whole story here because I'm too impatient to wait for the next in the series! LOL
Stone is ready for some changes. He is arrogant and on top of his game. He has success and money. While he's not sure he is looking for love, he definitely wants to find something different. His usual flings with subs keep falling flat. It isn't even fun anymore. On the other and we have Allison. She is taking steps toward bettering herself in a career dominated by men and has a dedicated relationship with her fiance. While at a conference, Allison makes a memorable entrance into Stone's keynote speech. One thing leads to another... I laughed at the start of this series. It does make me wonder "what now?".
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I like this book a lot. It's well-written and I like the characters. Allison and Robert are professional rivals so the last thing she wants to do is give in to the passion that flares when he makes an unexpected move on her. Robert is a bit of a conceited jerk but he isn't a one dimensional character. He's not sure if he believes in love but he's tired of his current romantic situation and wants more than the submissive women he is used to. This book sets up the story that will be continued through several more books and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.
I was given this book in exchange for an honest review.
I am giving the book 4 stars.
It was a very short story, only 50 pages I believe. It had an ok plot.
The story lagged a little until they got to Vegas which is about 60% through the book. by the time they got there I knew exactly what was going to happen in the book but it was still enjoyable.
for such a short story, it was fairly nice read. hopefully the author will continue to write and just get better and better :)
I really enjoyed this book and was actually waiting for more. I love the characters being two competitors in the same business. Then having the parents meet in such an unexpected way. Great plot development. Thank for the opportunity to read this book for free in an exchange for an honest review.
This book grabbed my attention and kept me hooked. It is a quick read and when I got to the end the cliffhanger left me wanting more. It is told in both POV's and very easy to tell whose POV it is at the time. There are some funny scenes that made me laugh. I like the main characters and they have great chemistry.
Thank you Cynthia for the opportunity to read this book. I truly enjoyed it. I can not wait for book 2. I am loving the story line so far. My only complaint is the book ended just when it started getting good. I am really liking Robert's character, he is so DOMINATE and sexy.
Honestly I read this entire series while I was in a hospital waiting room at 12 weeks pregnant in excruciating pain from a uterus infection. So while I wouldn’t read these again they got the job done! i.e. keep me distracted and into the books enough to get through the 12 hour wait.
