Rate this book
Twenty-two cases. Twenty-two families who never got to go back to the life they had the day before in their neighborhood.
A neighbor knocks at the door after dark and says he’s there to meet your husband. A man in a Santa suit rings the bell on Christmas Eve. A sheriff’s deputy is the first to reach the body of a missing eleven-year-old, and stands guard over her alone for twenty minutes before anyone else arrives.

Jamie Malton builds each of these accounts from court records, arrest reports, autopsy findings, and the reporting filed while the cases were still open.

Inside this 1986 murder of a college sophomore left beside a Massachusetts highway, closed nearly forty years later by the DNA of a man already in prison for strangling someone elseThe Georgia doctor who built a mansion by hand in the woods, and the two local men who decided nobody would miss himThe Amish father whose family treated his psychosis with foot rubs and molasses, until he became the first Old Order Amish man ever convicted of homicideThe ex-Marine who invented an international assassination ring out of thin air and talked two friends into killing for itThe eighteenth-century Dublin madam hanged as a witch, and the bodies later found beneath her brothelThe burglar who waited out a thunderstorm on Key Largo The newlywed couple who never saw morningAnd moreEvery case has been re-verified and carried forward to include new trials, new convictions, new DNA results, new releases, and appeals that were still pending when the first edition went to print. Two appendices reproduce primary-source documents – a detective’s own crime scene report, and sworn trial testimony.

Each chapter stands alone. Read one before bed or one your commute, or read them straight through.
Reader discretion advised. These cases include detailed descriptions of criminal conduct, injury, and death.

Jamie Malton is an American, non-fiction writer. She is the author of Killer Case Files: Jamie Malton’s Best True Crime Series which is an anthology of crime stories where the author examines the homicides perpetrated by murderers and serial killers.

Drawn to the how and why of real crime stories and fascinated by the detailed police work, DNA reconstruction, and genetic genealogy, she started writing her books to share the details of these stories with her readers.

For book research, she splits her time between the USA and European destinations where she often visits some of the places where crimes have occurred.

With criminal apprehension and victim restitution as a personal cause, she donates a portion of her book sales to charities that fund DNA reconstruction to solve cold cases and charities that support the families of murdered victims.

You can reach her at JamieMalton.com where she curates her research into Case Files for her book readers.
