What the hell did I just read? - this was my first thought after I finished this book. “The Missing Volume I –Illusions” was an intriguing mystery/psychological thriller that really left me wanting more. It was a confusing read with plenty WTF moments and with an ending that really pissed me off. Needless to say it ended with a cliffy. The story IMO is written really well and is written in such a way you will ask yourself what’s going on the entire time.

description

The story starts off with Nora Gilbert, the main character of the story who is held captive in a dark space without much food or water. She can’t see very clear because her captor/s took her glasses. She’s in the dark, alone, without anyone and maybe without any hope. She doesn’t know who is/are her captor/s. She is 'invisible' so why someone would want to kidnap her?! She doesn’t know what happened the night she was kidnapped, where she is or why she is held captive.

“I remembered who I was.
Nora Gilbert.
I remembered my life.
Unhappy.”

description

We find out from Nora’s memories many important things about her and about her life. Nora has a cleft palate and she always was considered ugly, almost like a monster by her cruel mother and not only. She is abused physically and emotionally by her and by others when she only wants to be accepted and loved. She would do anything to be 'beautiful' like others. She recently had surgery because her mother wanted her ‘fixed’, but the surgery wasn’t a ‘success’ in her mother's opinion. Nora presented in her memories is always sad, alone and more than that she feels and she always felt like an outsider in her own family, especially since her foster sister came into her life. Her only friend is a boy named Bradley.

“It was a relationship born out of loneliness between two people who couldn’t be more different. We took from each other what we needed. We left nothing behind for anyone else.”

until she meets Rosie, a girl who wants to be her friend and who seems too good to be true.

Like Nora at some point I started to question everything. What was real and what was just an illusion?

description

As I mentioned above the story was confusing as f*ck, yet very intriguing. To say the story was gripping (at least for me) would be an understatement. I really enjoyed the writing which was a little lyrical, a little mysterious and flawless. I enjoyed Nora’s raw and honest POV. Her POV is sad to say the least and maybe a little depressing as well. She was a fascinating character to read about.
I liked how the story is structured and I liked Nora’s POV both in the past and in the present. Obviously there’s a reason we’ve got both of them. The reason? I'm not really sure. I’m sure there were some clues...maybe. I tried to pay attention to every ‘important’ detail trying to figure out what’s going on, but I’m not sure I guessed it right. I have a lot of questions and also lots of crazy theories, some of them crazier than the story itself. We shall see…

description

“Perhaps I had never been invisible. Maybe I had always been noticed.
Hated and reviled.”

All in all, “The Missing Volume I –Illusions” was a fantastic, gripping read with a great storyline and interesting main character and I'm looking forward to find out what really happened with Nora.

Nora Gilbert, a 20 year old girl; was born with a facial defect. A slight limp and scarring about her lip after her mother made her have surgery, but it was still there. Her mother made sure to remind her how ugly she was every day. She grew up feeling ugly, sad, depressed and not loved by either of her parents; she was insecure and shy. The awful mother hide her at times, she would lock her up in her room for days even. All this time her father would be out of town and ignored this when he was home. He tried to be a good father for her but failed miserably. He was never around always working and one day he never returned, her mother had said he had died so now she was completely alone. Her parents had adopted another girl “Rosie”, and she thought she would have a friend in her. However, Rosie was mean and evil just like her mother.

“At least I can bear to look at you now.”Mother…“Her words were knives. Sharp and deadly. Straight to my gut. Buried deep where the wounds wouldn’t show.” Nora

Nora was so alone except for one person, her neighbor Bradley Somers,. They become friends at an early age, he saw what her mother did to her and he was angry he wanted to help her get out of that life. Nora and Bradley’s relationship was different. He was possessive of her and in a weird way I liked it, knowing she at least has someone who truly cared for her. However, he was also a bit creepy at times. Nora meets a new girl at the community college she was attending part time; she instantly liked her. Her name was Maren Digby, she had just moved to their town in Kansas and was going to the same school as Nora. However, Bradley did not approved of Maren or anyone. He did not trust people’s intentions and did not want Nora to suffer more than she already has.

”I was used to Bradley and his constantly fluctuating moods. Up and down. Like a roller coaster. He could make you smile and laugh, and in the next breath, make you cry and scream. He could be amazing. He could be the most terrifying thing in the world.” Nora

I loved how he would come to her bedroom at night especially on ”THURSDAYS” oh, what an awful day that was. I cried and I was mad and I just couldn’t understand what a monster of a mother would make her daughter go thru that. Basically her mother would take her to see the priest on Thursdays and do a purgatory for her sins because they believed she was an evil thing, a freaking “THING” because of the way she was born. She endured and tended to her damaged back each week after week and Bradley was always there for support. He hated to see that, he wanted to save her and I loved him for that.

The story goes back and forth to the present and past. The present is where Nora is trapped in a room by herself in the dark with no recollection of who took her there or why. She has flashbacks to her life and tries so hard to find out what happened to her. This books is full of angst, suspense, is so twisted in a way because I am still trying to guess the mystery of who took her and why she is trapped alone in the dark. Her glasses were lost and she can’t see without them. The author really has this way of writing that gets so engaged in the story, as I’m reading I’m trying to find clues of what could have happened but it’s just so hard. I suspect it could of being the evil mother, or the evil sister, perhaps her new friend that we don’t know much about other that she loves to play the guitar and loved the song’s Nora would write. However, as I get to the ending I need book two because I need to know who she sees at the end. She is not alone on this misery and I am so intrigued I am going mad. I guess I will have to continue the series to find out this mystery.

"Perhaps I had never been invisible. Maybe I had always been noticed. Hated and reviled. Ugly, horrible Nora Gilbert."

Wow this short read was not only well written but utterly consuming. A. Meredith Walters delivers a twisted tale that ends with a cliffhanger and had me highlighting and questioning everything and everyone presented in this story.

Nora Gilbert is trapped in a dark room without her glasses, bathroom and any answers or reasons why. She relies on her memory to get to the truth of the events that have placed her in this prison. The fact that her memories are scattered, her past a horrific existence spearheaded by an abusive mother, evil foster sister, hot and angry male friend and a new guitar playing girl friend, leaves you confused and questioning can all that she remembered be true?

"I questioned my sanity. I questioned my lucidity. I had begun to question absolutely everything."

Nora has a cleft palate and has been deemed from birth and abused by her mother as an atrocity. She yearns for love and acceptance and finds cruelty at every turn. Her past memories are completely heartbreaking right down to her priest’s treatment of her. Bradley Somers seems to be her only friend in her memories appearing when she needs someone out of nowhere usually angry and understanding. As the story progresses it seems that a surgery has repaired most of Nora’s condition but her mother still sees her as a monster and the term “ugly” is used for this twenty year old college student with beaten down self-esteem.

”No, Nora. You looked awful before. You are decidedly less awful now. Ugly. But not awful.”

description

So you see, the author presents a few characters in Nora’s world. Her evil mother, Lesley, her pretty but diabolical foster sister, Rosie, her hot and angry guy friend, Bradley Somers and a new friend (perhaps love interest?) Maren Digby. The story takes up back and forth from present to past and ends with a well done cliffhanger. The writing is excellent, the pacing addictive and the confusion by what I read insurmountable!!!

description

The series will be in three parts with the next releasing July 30 and the final installment due in August. The author has added to the fun with this blog post…

Which adds to the story immensely, so please read over once you finish because perhaps this is lover scorned situation? Multiple personalities tale is my gut feeling on this tale but who knows A. Meredith Walters has in store for Nora Gilbert!!!!

WARNING: for all my romance loving friends; this is NOT a romance. Please remember that when you pick up this book to read. It is a three part psychological thriller series!

WOAH! What the hell did I just read? I love a good mystery/thriller! And there is nothing better than ending the book having absolutely no idea what the hell is going on. And really, I do not. While, I may have a theory - or 100, I am completely lost. That isn't a bad thing, to me that is FANTASTIC! I love that I have no idea which way is up or down.

As I started this review, I went back to look at my notes and highlights. I was shocked to see that I had highlighted this 120 page book more than any other book I have ever read! That is not an exaggeration! I have 140 highlights for a 120 page book!

First, I think everyone who reads my reviews knows I am a huge Walters fan. So it goes without saying that I would jump at the chance to read any book she puts out. I love the way she strings words together, the lyrical way in which they fit. The plot and characters are always so well thought out and beautifully written, that I lose myself in them. These three elements keep my emotions on edge, always at the ready.

This book was no exception. her lyrical prose was ever present:
"We took from each other what we needed. We left nothing behind for anyone else.

"He drank me dry. I ate him whole."

Emotions? Feelings?  Ya, I felt, ANGER ...a lot of it.  You see, Nora was born unto a horrid excuse for a mother! A woman whose expectations for physical beauty were put above her parental responsibility and when her daughter, Nora was born with an "imperfection" her mother treated her like an abomination:
"No, Nora. You looked awful before. You are decidedly less awful now. Ugly. But not awful."

Her mothers obsession with beauty caused her to take in a foster child, one so beautiful that, Rosie  wormed her way into Nora's mother's heart. Becoming the daughter Nora never was, fulfilling the hole Nora's mother created. But Rosie was not as beautiful on the inside as she was on the out and soon Nora learned that trying to be her sister was futile.
"Get the fuck out of my room," Rosie said,

"I just wanted to see if you wanted to watch TV-"

"Why in the hell would I want to do anything with you?"

"I'm just trying to be nice."

"I don't need you to be nice to me. Get your nasty face out of here."

Nora lived a life of hiding at home. She hid in her room, hid around corners and observed life around her. She covered her face with her hair. She tried to stay out of everyone's way, to be invisible. It was best that way.
"Make no noise. Stay locked away. Don't let them know I'm here."

The same with school, social situations were horrifying because of the way she looked, or the way she perceived she looked, thanks to her mom and "foster sister". She had a best friend, Bradley. He was a wild card. Hot tempered, possessive and overly protective of Nora, he was living with his own demons. While we don't exactly know what those are (yet), I have my suspicions.  He hated seeing Nora hurt or upset and when that happened, he wanted to "take care" of the situation.

One day, while needing a break from life, Nora ventures to a park where she meets a beautiful woman with whom she strikes a friendship - Maren Digby. Maren plays guitar and Nora enjoys her music and company. They seem to be on the verge of a great friendship.

I say verge because we don't really know what happened. The book begins with Nora Gilbert being held captive. She is locked in a room. By herself. She quickly runs out of the water that was left for her as well as the little food.  She remembers everything that led up to her disappearance, but not what happened to lead her to that room. Nothing. Ms. Walters gives us glimpses into Nora's world by going back in time as Nora remembers things. Such as you might imagine would happen in a movie. The way the memories are fed to us are trickles of information that just barely whet your appetite. They make you wonder, guess, and in my case, GO CRAZY with speculation. Who took Nora? And then, she begins to "hear" noises... but is she really hearing them? Or is she going insane while in that room? GAH, I DON'T KNOW! And WHY? Why did they take her? Was it jealousy, anger, to protect her, hide her away? Or something entirely different?
"People failed you. It was the only constant thing in life. You couldn't rely on others. They let you  down every time."

Please Ms. Walters, don't let me down!  I.NEED.VOLUME II - LIES.NOW.

This is not a romance, at least not yet. I don't know whether is there gonna be a HEA in the horizon. The hopeless romantic in me definitely wish for it.

This 100+ pages short read make me feel so damn homicidal, angry and depressed. It was told from the POV of a facially disfigured girl named Nora Gilbert.

Nora woke up being captured and without any human contact. She recounted her life with her family and friends that make you wish you could whisk her away from the horrible place.

Her mum is horrible. I don't condone violence, but her mum really makes me wish Nora will attempt filicide.

It seems like everyone around her is horrible to her including the church creepy reverend.

Bradley - I don't know what to make of him yet. He seems protective of Nora, yet there is something holding me back. I really wish for him to be the hero of the story.

Maren - Who is she?! Seems a bit too good to be true.

My heart was palpating throughout the entire read. There is so much anger in me that I felt like hulk smashing my kindle. Gah! I need to know the ending asap! It seems like a big twist is in the horizon. If this end badly, I will need to have a woman to woman talk with A. Meredith Walters.

***** 5 Little Girl Lost Stars *****

Well....what can I say about this book besides it was amazing and frustrating with a huge dose of cruelty at every angle.

 photo nora_zpszmykgqcn.jpg

The Missing is the story about Nora Gilbert. Nora is not loved. She has been pushed aside, locked away and verbally abused all her life. Her mother has been the soul source of all this sadness for Nora. Nora's mother hates her, especially Nora's face. Nora has a cleft pallet and it has been thorn in her mother's side since she was born. Her mother makes her face out to be something absolutely grotesque. Ridiculing Nora at every change she gets, Nora no longer has a self esteem and hides her face at all costs. In an attempt to make her daughter less grotesque, she had Nora undergo surgery on her lip.

"No Nora. You looked awful before. You are decidedly less awful now. Ugly. But not awful."

I am not going to lie....I really want to beat the ever living shit out of Nora's mother. The story has broken my heart so many times while reading.

This story gets deeper. As we witness the amount of abuse and unlove Nora receives. We are also on another journey of her being abducted and locked away somewhere. She has no idea where she is. She is left in the dark, with nothing but a bag chips and a few bottles of water. Nora can't remember anything brings her up to being locked away. She is desperate, and fighting for someone to hear her. As the hours and days start passing her by she reflects back to the previous 4 & 5 months so we can learn some back story.

 photo SAD_zps4s5azart.jpg

The backstory is filled with just as much darkness and evil as her current fight to get free.

As Nora begins to lose hope she hears something.

THUMP. THUMP. THUMP.

She is forced to listen to a song over and over again. The song is familiar but she can't place it.

THUMP. THUMP. THUMP.

Besides the song, she is hearing whistling.

The song and whistling only stops when she screams for it to end.

Nora feels she is losing her mind, that she really is not hearing the thumps in the walls. She hears them but no one ever responds to her shouts for help. Until she hears the THUMP again. She finds a whole in the bottom of the wall only to see another person lying on the other side of the wall. She can't believe her eyes, because she knows that person.

 photo war_zpslkfhvc2y.gif

Your mind will go crazy with this story right along with Nora's mind. I can actually say I have no idea what is really going on and I love having my mind played with.

Congrats Miss Walters....you have blended my brain into a pile of the "what the", "who the" goodness!!!

This book has left me with some conflicting emotions. Mostly I feel slightly depressed after reading it. It is dark for sure; but it is also cruel to see what Nora endures all because she has a cleft palate. The story goes back and forth from the past to present. In the present Nora is locked in a room but doesn't know why or how she got there. The small amount of water and food she was left with has run out and Nora is beside herself with despair.

"I raged. I despaired. I fell apart. I got back up. I was defeated. I was strong. I went around in circles becoming a dozen different versions of myself in the span of minutes. My emotions were wild and out of control."

As the book ends, (with a cliff hanger), I am not sure anymore who is crazy....Is it Nora or all the others from her past???
I shall keep reading to find out!!

This one was a bit of a weird one for me.

I spent pretty much the entire story trying to figure out what the hell was going on. I realize that Nora was supposed to be a broken soul, but she ended up coming off as whiny and unlikable to me. That might end up being why this was just 'meh' for me.

To be honest, I don't know how to review this book. I'm so torn when it comes to my rating. I didn't like it nor did I hate it ... After reading Meredith A. Walters' first psychologial thriller, The Contradiction of Solitude, I was so hooked - although that was anoher book I wasn't sure I "liked" - and had probably too high expectations for The Missing.

Now don't get me wrong ... it was okay, I guess. The characters in TCoS were very unique and I even couldn't help but feel intrigued by them but that was different for the characters in this book. I felt sympathy for Nora. She's been through some hard times, always being rejected and detested for who she is, for what she looks like. Everything she ever wanted was to be loved and accepted. I get it. And I hated her mother for being such a terrible person. Seriously, if you can't even count on your family, what do you have left? They're supposed to be there for you, support you and not abuse (physically and mentally) you. Just no, that's not right. So yes, I hated her with a passion.

The only friend Nora had is Bradley and while that may have been something postive, it really wasn't. Bradley is a really, really strange character. He's angry most of the time, has terrible mood swings and generally he's someone you should stay far, far away from. He's dangerous but Nora needs him as much as he needs her. She knows it's not a good relationship but he's the only one she's got ... until she meets Maren. She seemed normal. A pretty girl, wanting to befriend Nora ... and I think this would've really helped her. If not for that fact that someone kidnapped her. Who? She doesn't know. Nora has no recollection of the day it happened, who it could be or why. All she knows is that she's alone ...

I can't help but compare The Missing to TCoS and while I know it's probably not fair and shouldn't be done ... I still do it. Her writing style really impressed me in TCoS, there were lots of passages I highlighted and that sounded beautiful. I can't say I did that in this book. It was still well written and easy to read despite the depressing mood but that's about it. In general the book gave a really depressive feel ... which is obviously the desired effect but I didn't care as much as I wanted to. *sigh*

Overall it still made me curious, especially because it ended on a cliffhanger and I want to know who this other person is. Will I read the second volume? Maybe. It's definitely not a high priority but I'll keep an eye on it. It's a short book and if you're interested in psychological thriller, you should definitely check it out! As usual, form your own opinion ... everyone has a different taste. ;)

A.Meredith Walters (A.M.Irvin) never ever fails to amaze me, and this book is no different.

It has a dark and twisty plot, that was filled with so much pain, angst and horror that, at times, I struggled to read the next page. A true writer makes you feel the words, whether love or suspense, horror or pain, you feel it, and you think about it for days afterwards. And that's exactly what happened here.

Our heroine - Nora - is a complex and broken character, filled with so many dark stories that I wouldn't even know where to begin. Her life so far has been loveless, and filled with sadness, and hate, and thus she is a thoroughly broken character. Enter a myriad of other complex characters, who you both pity, hate and feel deeply fascinated with.

The story flips from past to present, and sometimes even further backwards, to the initial beginnings of her cruel life. Yet, these jumps are smoothly done, and with each retelling of the past and each visit to the present, a new layer is uncovered.
Where is Nora? Who has her? Will she survive it?
She's a strong character, though she initially comes across as quite weak, but I honestly fear for her and can't wait to read the second part and uncover the mystery surrounding her kidnapping.

Invisible,
Unseen.
Deceit at all costs.
No one will miss
The little girl lost...

I love books like this. Wake up, kidnapped, locked away. No recollection of why or how you got there. It makes attempting to unravel all of the pieces so much more exciting.

This story jumps back and forth between the present and the past. It is going to be a set of 3 short stories, in the style of Never, Never, I assume (though a slightly more adult version, maybe?) and is a psychological thriller. As she attempts to put her memories together, we come across a few people who could be potential suspects, and I have certainly developed some theories. I am trying to be vague, because I don't want to give many details, because I think you guys should just read this.

Is it going to get like -adult- I don't know. So I can't give any series warnings. BUT keep in mind this is not meant to be a romance, even though this author is known for romance novels. Anyway, so far, Im definitely enjoying it. If you like these kinds of books, jump in. Its a quick read. Looking forward to the next!!

What can I say, The Missing Volume 1 – Illusions is an intense and thrilling start to the 3 part serial. I was addicted from page one. Ms Irvin has set the imagery perfectly, I could tell this was not going to be an easy read. I was left gasping in horror because there are parts that are so well written I could feel Nora’s pain and anguish.
This part has left me begging for the next. It is going to be an incredible, tense and thrilling series.
Ms Irvin’s style of writing is like none other I have ever read, I am honest with the fact 99% of books I read are romance but she has got me hooked on the psychological upheaval my brain experiences when reading these crazy, all consuming stories!

Some books screw with your head. They break you and have your heart hanging on by a thread. And they make it nearly impossible to write a review that does them justice.
"The Missing Volume One - Illusions" by A. Meredith Walters writing as A.M. Irvin is one of those books.
I have no idea how to review it without giving anything away. But what makes it a bit easier is that even after I finished the book, I still have no clue what's really going on. I'm still in the dark.
I can say this though: Read this brilliantly written story.
Read it to be transported into the twisted, scary life of Nora Gilbert. A girl, who wakes up in a dark basement - kidnapped and held prisoner. While she tries to figure out what happened, we learn more about her personality as well as her childhood and her life prior to the kidnapping. She had an awful, cold childhood. A life that makes you feel sorry for her. Unloved, uncared for, neglected. Or was she?
I can't wait to find out. What I'm sure of is that there is more to Nora than what she has shown us so far.

I'm on the edge of my seat biting my nails until the second book. Although I'm sure I'll need those two weeks to recover from the emotional beating I took reading Nora's story.
It was intelligent, haunting, beautiful, brutal in its honesty and ugly. It was f*****g perfect.

5+ screwing-with-my-mind stars.

Very interesting start to this story. I think Nora is somewhat of an unreliable character. She thinks one thing and then says another regarding her family or friends.

I so want to know more. It kind of reminds me of the Nocte trilogy.

4.5 STARS

Okay... I need to say something to a handful of people before I sort out my thoughts for you... This is a SERIES... a SERIES... it DOES have a cliffhanger. It DOES leave you with WTF syndrome. As a matter-of-fact, you will have WTF syndrome throughout the WHOLE book. So with that being said, don't whine, complain, gripe, or chastise the author for not giving you what YOU want instead of what SHE WANTS to give you. So if you are THAT person, my advice would be to read all of them back to back once they are out. No one likes the a-hole of the bunch. Avoid it. Don't be it.

So this is the start of a story... a story that seems to be a mystery. Mystery. Yes, this story is a mystery of epic proportions. I will admit, I was a little pee'ed off but in the best way. This is nothing like anything I have read. The only thing I can compare it to would be Never Never, except it is nothing like Never Never. It just so happens both stories seem to leave you with your head cocked to the side thinking, WTF is going on; WTF happened; WTF will happen?!?!

Back to me being pee'ed off... I will tell you a little bit about the main character. She was born with a cleft lip/palate. If you don't know what that is, google it. I didn't need to. My oldest was born with a cleft palate; I already knew what they both were. I thought I was going to have a hard time reading this, because of that... I did struggle at a point here and there. Not because of her birth defect, but because of how she was treated by her family because of it. It pee'ed me off in the worst way. I was so angry. I still am. My heart broke with this poor woman.

So just what happened to Nora? Well, I don't know. Even if I did, I wouldn't tell you. I have a few suspicions. I have my theories. But I don't have enough of the story to say for sure what they are. Even if I did, I still wouldn't tell you. (Insert tongue smiley here) This definitely is the beginning of a psychological thriller I am sure to be in love with by the end!

Some people are just butt ugly inside and will only show their true face to a few unfortunate.

And, some people prey on the unfortunate to satisfy their own gain.

This was a depressing story, one that had no ending.

Nora and Bradley relationship seemed unhealthy, he only wanted her all for himself. That guy was possesive to the nineth degree. He was Nora saviour, but not quite, really. A lot of WTF momemts, mostly for Nora and her mom, even some for Bradley.

Can't wait to see the truth. Who kidnapped Nora? Yeah u don't get that in this installment. It seemed the whole purpose of this book was just to show you how sad Nora's life was.

I am so damn confused. I don't know what to think about this book or any of the characters. But I'm pretty sure there's a chance this is an f/f series (if there ever will be romance at all) and I'm hella excited for that! Lesbians are way too rare in romance genre.

Can't wait to read more.....

I am a big fan of this author. And although this different from some of her other books, I enjoyed it very much. Intriguing, different and unputdownable, I am anxiously awaiting to find out where this story is going. I honestly have no idea where it may go, which definitely makes The Missing unputdownable. A departure from what I usually pick up but a great, well written, dark read. I am onto the next installment!

I love ALL of A. Meredith Walter’s books. When the opportunity came for me to read this one I was a little apprehensive. I am a romance girl and I wasn’t sure if I was going to like the plot of this book. I should have known I would love it, after all, I think A. Meredith Walters could write a book about the phone book and I would like it. And this one had me hooked from the very first page.

No one will miss the little girl lost…

I am not going to include the plot of this story in my review. There are two reasons: One, because I absolutely cannot ruin it for you. Read it organically, just as I did. I cannot recommend that enough. It was shocking and overwhelming and sometimes just downright horrific and I got to experience that without anybody telling me why. And that was the best. Two, because I really do not know what the hell is going on. This book is most definitely a mind fuck. It hops back and forth between the present and past (6 months ago). I often found myself wondering what was real and what was an illusion dreamed up by a mentally ill girl. I found myself constantly wondering who was good and who was bad. Some of my favorite non-romantic books have this aspect and I loved it in this one as well.

Sometimes I wondered whether he wanted to posses me.
Perhaps he wanted to own my soul.

My questions went on and on. What is the beeping? Who ends up being her love interest? Why is her mother so awful? I could not stop reading. I read this short serial all in one sitting. It was, in one word, AMAZING. I am sold and I need another fix now! I sure hope the next installment comes soon because you get left with a huge CLIFFY at the end of this one! The author has set this mystery up quite well and even has a blog page that you can check out for clues and updates regarding this serial.

I found myself there late last night trying to figure out what the heck is going on. This is a must read, folks!

This darker side of A. Meredith Walters has certainly gotten under my skin. I thought with The Contradiction of Solitude, I'd seen her worst. Yet now with The Missing, her gift of mystery mixed with a bit of depravity seems to have been taken to a whole other level. And quite frankly I'm a bit frightened but still thirsty for more. Or maybe just overall thirsty since I'm as parched as our heroine!!

I feel as if I'm as clueless as Nora Gilbert, the girl who felt unloved and was most certainly unwanted, being told that over and over again. Going back and forth from past to present, trying to decipher the many rambling thoughts racing through Nora's head as she is seemingly held prisoner in a dark, stifling room. Wondering where in the heck this story-line will take both of us and trying to figure if this is all in her imagination or if something truly horrific happened that would make her non-existent life even worse.

There is truly no easy way to describe what I have just read but to say it is diabolical brilliance and you have to experience it for yourself.

I'm diving into part II of this 3 part story. So wish me luck. Let's hope we, right along side Nora, make it out alright.

5 solidly messed up stars!

Dark and twisted, mysterious.

If you like twisted romance, mysteries,
or enjoyed Colleen Hoover's Never Never series, then you'll definitely like this.

It was intriguing, it made me want to find out who locked in Nora, but

I can't help but be cautious with my high expectations though, because the only thing that actually makes this novel interesting so far is the slow reveals all thanks to Nora's partial amnesia. I feel like if you strip the story of her amnesia, there won't be anything left of importance. That's why I'm apprehensive that after all the reveals are over, I would be let down. In order for a mystery novel to be exceptionally good, the only interesting aspect of the book cannot be how much the readers are kept in the dark. Because we will be let down in the end when all the secrets are out and we're thinking "This is it? we were waiting for this?" There has to be an interesting journey leading us to the finale, or the secret must be utterly, unmistakably original and unimaginable for there to be a big enough punch to satisfy the audience. I really hope there is a supernova waiting in the end, otherwise, this would end up becoming a story that won't be a story unless the MC is amnesiac.
