She needs his protection almost as much as she needs his heart…

Rebecca Mayes has already endured more than her fair share of tragedy. After her husband was killed in a horrific car crash, she’d do anything to shield herself from more heartache. A highly sought after attorney, Rebecca’s success in the courtroom has not come without costs. The disgruntled ex-husband of a client is seeking revenge on the one he blames for his troubles—and his sights are set on Rebecca. While she remains blissfully unaware, he’s stalking her, and getting closer every day.

Navy SEAL Patrick “Ice” Foster vowed to never be in a relationship again after watching his ex-wife slowly die of cancer. That type of anguish was more than he could handle in one lifetime, and there’s no way anyone can change his mind.

Despite their determination never to fall in love again, Rebecca and Patrick can’t deny the connection between them. But when danger lurks around every corner, she knows there’s only one man she can trust to protect both her and her daughter. But who will protect her from a broken heart?

3.0 RATING- This book had the potential to be just the type of guilty pleasure read I like but fell flat. The main gripe I have is the writing. There's a lot of "telling" and not much "doing". I found myself scanning some of the story just to get to a part where there was actually some dialogue or interaction between the two characters. There was also some minor repetitiveness. It's disappointing because I thought the sexy scenes were well done.

I know I've said I'm not a big fan of romantic/suspense books; so what did I just read? Another romantic/suspense book! Well, more romance than suspense because I think I figured out the bad guy pretty quick. Maybe I should say this is a military/romance.

The hero Patrick is a Navy SEAL also known as Ice for his calm, cool collected demeanor under fire. He is also a widower and single dad to son Logan.

Rebecca is a widow; a successful divorce lawyer and a single mother to four-year old Abby. As a divorce lawyer, she is tough and generally gets everything they want for her female clients.

Rebecca and Abby are at the playground when she sees Patrick with a little boy; not realizing it is his son. She had seen Patrick a few days earlier as she was having dinner with her friend, Allison and Abby. Patrick and his SEAL team were just back from a mission and were heading to Anchors to wind down. Patrick strikes up a conversation with Rebecca while their kids play together.

Neither wants a relationship but sparks fly when they are together. Rebecca is disappointed when Patrick tells her he'll see her soon but doesn't call. He later tells her he'd been deployed and he'd make it up to her. Rebecca has been getting hang-ups at her work. And then she finds out that a strange man had approached Abby one afternoon at their home. Patrick decides then that he'll deal with this threat and asks his team to help. But he decides not to tell Rebecca what he knows. He'll tell her AFTER it's handled. Of course, that doesn't set well with Rebecca.

I must say I really loved this story. It's not too long and not too short. You already know who Patrick and his team are when you meet them. And you know Rebecca from the minute she walks onto the page. I love stories like that. Where the characters are already developed and you're not guessing who is who and what is what. Logan and Abby are cute and Rebecca's best girl friend, Allison sounds nice too. Even though she's not in the story all that much.

SEAL the Deal is the first book I've read by Makenna Jameison and hopefully won't be the last one I read. This is the first book in a series (Alpha SEALS) and I can't wait for the next book.

Patrick is a man who was married but divorced when she couldn't deal with his job but she later died leaving him with a son. Patrick is also a Navy SEAL which means he has seen and experienced a lot in his 35 years. He and his brother SEAL's are a family and would stop at nothing to help each other. Just when he has decided he likes his life and there is no room for a woman he meets someone he just might not be able to walk away from. Rebecca lost her husband in an accident and has a 4 year old daughter. She is happy with her life and loves her job as a divorce attorney. So when the two meet sparks fly. When her life is threatened the SEAL's step in.

I love me some SEAL's and this story doesn't disappoint.

I downloaded this book for free and decided to give it a try. From the cover and title, I expected it to be pure mind candy about military studs. I was pleasantly surprised that it had many elements of a very touching love story. Patrick is a SEAL whose marriage failed due to the stress of deployments. After watching his ex-wife die of cancer, he’s done with relationships and just focusing on work and raising their son. Rebecca is a divorce attorney whose husband was killed in a car accident. She’s not interested in dating, but in work and raising her daughter. In this setting, they meet for a second time in years, and the story unfolds. Sure, there was the hot stud theme and the steamy scenes, but there was also some of the reality of navigating a new relationship with kids already in the picture. It was a very sweet love story. There were some minor editing issues and the only thing I’d add would be the epilogue, which I’m still wishing were there. Despite that, this was a 5/5, which is rare for me in a free book. I read the ebook. I look forward to reading more by the author.

The Real Seal Deal

Just finished reading book 1 of Alpha SEALS and what a great read it was! Beautiful love story of two people who had to guard their hearts because of painful past loves. He
an alpha Navy Seal who had lost his first wife first to divorce then shortly thereafter to cancer leaving him a single parent to a six-year old boy. She is a successful divorce lawyer with a four year old girl residing in the same town who lost her husband in a terrible car accident a year earlier. Both of them were sure that they would never be in another relationship due to the pain of losing their hearts.
But then fate brings them together and they can't deny the
sparks and attraction between them. Add in a very disgruntled ex husband of one of her clients who begins to
stalk her and you have great suspense to go with the love story! I've already downloaded the next two books in this series that's how good I think this author is. I highly recommend this book series to all alpha lover lovers

Great new series! You’ll love Rebecca Mayes and Navy SEAL Patrick Foster right from the start. Rebecca is a strong, smart, beautiful young woman raising her daughter on her own after the untimely death of her husband. Throw in Patrick, an intelligent, hot and hunky Navy SEAL who happens to be “Ice” under pressure and the chemistry sizzles. He’s a dedicated father, also left on his own to raise his young son. Your heart will melt a little when Rebecca’s and Patrick’s love story unfolds. The pain and loss of past loves, healing hearts, and second chances unite and bond this couple.

Great writing, relatable characters, and steamy romantic encounters equate to a sexy and enjoyable read. Thank you Makenna Jameison for the longer stories in your new Alpha SEALS series. I’m still a fan of short novellas, but SEAL the Deal is quite simply...SEALed to perfection. Can’t wait to read the next book in this series!

Rebecca Mayes and Patrick 'Ice' Foster meet again while their children are playing on a playground. Rebecca is a young widow and a successful divorce lawyer learning to live with the loss of her husband in an auto accident a year or so earlier. Patrick is a single father to his son after his ex-wife died of cancer and not looking for another permanent relationship.

The attraction between the two is strong, fast and unexpected but with a stalker after Rebecca, Patrick works to SEAL the Deal with her to make them into a new family. Add to distractions of last minute deployments to make their love and understanding between them difficult.

I loved the alpha male Patrick was and the strong independent woman of Rebecca's character but the two children added a reality of family and fun to the story that makes it special.

Why have I only started reading this authors book? One of the reasons I sign up for tours is to read different authors. After reading this book I'm super excited to see she has more books I can get stuck into.

After Rebecca's husband died in an accident Rebecca decides she doesn't want any more heartache so she gives men a wide berth.
Navy Seal Patrick 'Ice' Foster is also protecting himself from heartache. However nothing prepares them for the chemistry between them.
A stalker brings suspense to the story.

If your looking for a really good romantic story with suspense then this could be the one for you.

It's the first standalone book in the Alpha Seal series. Looking forward to reading more of this authors books. Loved it.

Pulls at all the right strings...

From a young widow raising a four year old daughter, to a combat hardened Navy SEAL whose deceased ex-wife couldn't take his military involvement, leaving him to raise his six year old son alone, this story really has it all to draw you in and keep you reading.

Not only do you have a successful female attorney who has become used to being alone, but you have a military man who not only knows how to protect, but he's not afraid to show the woman he loves how he feels.

The author had done a fine job of giving her characters a heart and a soul...she brings both out very well in her story. I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series.

It was okay.
But I just couldn’t find myself caring about the characters at all. I liked them, and I thought their backgrounds and professions was interesting however I didn’t care whether they were together or not and I wasn’t really interested in the stalker subplot either.

So it was a bit of a let down for me unfortunately.
Didn’t enjoy it like I was hoping.

Liked both the hero and the heroin.

I like both leading characters because they were strong in their own rights. Patrick was cool as "Ice", (also his call sign), and Rebecca was intelligence and well put together as a divorce lawyer. Both were widowed and with young children. Although, Patrick 's wife had left him because she couldn't deal with him being deployed at the drop of as hat, she had later died from cancer leaving him with a young son. He did not seem bitter like some men get after divorce, and made it a point to respect and support his ex-wife during her sickness. Rebecca 's husband died in a tragic accident while returning home from work late one night. She was also left with a small child.

To me they were perfect for each other. The story came together well and didn't seen rushed even though it was a short book, ( Only about 195 pages), but I can see how they could fall into a relationship quickly. Any-who, nice quick read for a quiet afternoon.

This is a full length standalone but a little too ordinary. Patrick is the seal team leader and a divorcée with a son. Rebecca is a widower with a daughter and a divorce attorney. She recognizes Patrick one night when she's out with a friend. He recognizes her as he's lead by his team for some R&R at a local bar. They had a brief encounter years prior.

The author establishes that Patrick is a well built stud that had his fair share of women. I felt a little too much. I felt she recapped feelings multiple times that weren't necessary. I would have liked to see more time spent with the quartet bonding more. You don't see any interaction between Rebecca's daughter Abbey and Patrick. There is not much between Patrick's son Logan and Rebecca either.

I feel details like this are a must because these children are described as focal points for both parents. Patrick's sister is mentioned but never elaborated on. Neither families truly are. It helps a reader to relate to characters with details like this. More so than how many notches are in his belt. The book felt like things were taken out of it such as the spring that is explained to have been spent together. There were a few times they met up and one date and bam Patrick was falling in love.

She'd never even been to his house. Rebecca tells her friend but she never meets him or is seen in the story again. The break up when Rebecca is left worrying would have been an opportunity to bring her back in and bring another layer to Rebecca's daily struggle. I still appreciated a longer book but with the couple needing to establish their feelings and the mystery surrounding Rebecca's stalker the book just screamed for more details.

If the couple had completely knew the other it would have took some of that burden off of the author but I like the original approach I just think the author needed more filler moments to make her reader feel the connection and feelings as strongly as her couple did. Enjoy!

This is the first book in this series.

You have our heroine who has a child and is widowed. Her husband was killed on a bridge in an accident and the last thing she needs is more heartache. However, when her path crosses our hero, first when she’s married and needs help and then later after she’s widowed, she starts to feel something. At first she thinks it’s one of her clients as a high powered lawyer, but then realizes it’s a client of her husband’s starts to seeking revenge. The only thing is she’s unaware of this and he’s getting closer to her and her daughter every day.

Our hero has had his own ups and downs in the relationship department. He loves his job but the cost was his marriage. Then to watch his ex-wife get cancer and slowly die from it was more than he could take. However, his son is the one bright light in his life.

Neither wanted to get married or love again, but as their paths keep crossing, they can’t deny they feel something for the other. They start to look forward to spending time and talking to the other. Over time the start to protect and trust the other. However, will the danger be too much for them? Can they overcome their feelings regarding loving again and having a future with another person?
I loved this book as you could feel for both the hero and heroine. The kids make certain scenes more human and would give you a giggle or give the parents a kick in the butt. You could feel how much they wanted to be together but were very reluctant to actually go there. You get to know more of the guys on the hero’s team as well and they were all very likable.

I can’t wait to read the rest of the series. If they are all written this way, it’ll be a great series.

Patrick “Ice” Foster got his nickname because he is cool, calm and collected no matter the circumstance. This works great for him since he is a SEAL and he sees no issues with it in his personal life since his divorce and loss of his ex to cancer he has no intentions of going down the road towards a relationship anytime soon. His SEAL team and his son Logan are he needs in his life or so he thinks. When he comes into contact with Rebecca there is just something about her that sets his emotions and his protective instincts to the forefront. Rebecca has no intention of opening her heart to another man after the tragic loss of her husband she never wants to be open to tht kind of pain again. Yet when she sees Patrick with his son and their children get along some of the ice around her heart starts to melt. When a series of odd things start to happen to Rebecca she tries not to worry but the incidents put Patrick on high alert. He brings in his SEAL team to try and uncover what is going on. Will he be able to keep Rebecca and Abby safe? Will his hunt for Rebecca’s stalker cause him to lose the one chance he has at making a happy life for himself and his son? Can Rebecca fully open up to the incredible opportunity for another chance at love? How will this second chance at romance work out?

I really enjoyed this suspenseful romance. Rebecca and Patrick are likable characters who have met briefly in the past when both were happily married to other people. When they meet again coincidentally, both of them are trying to get through dismal days and lonely nights because they have each lost cherished partners.

Rebecca’s young daughter is a funny, cutie-pie who often pops off at inopportune times. I loved her spontaneity! Patrick’s son, likewise, is a sweet-tempered child who dotes on his daddy.

I loved the chemistry between Rebecca and Patrick and the fact that both are mature non-selfish adults drawn together but very concerned with how their actions could affect their youngsters.

The tension escalates as the stalker becomes more rash. Patrick wants to protect Rebecca but in so doing he makes some poor choices and ends up with a mess he never anticipated.

This is a stand-alone book that is also a fantastic kickoff to what I anticipate will be an exciting and fun series.

This book was given to me in exchange for my honest review.

This is the first time I've read this author. This particular book wasn't for me but I wouldn't hesitate to try again with another title.

I enjoyed the story, but something just missed the mark for me. I found myself skipping sections, looking for dialogue. While I am fascinated with being in characters heads reading their thoughts, this was a little too much detail for me. There was more a telling of the story than showing. I like trying to figure out where the storyline is headed, I like having to guess. This one just wasn't that way.I liked the stalker aspect but it wasn't enough to pull me into the read till the end.

Sadly, this one just wasn't for me.

Unrealized Potential

I’m a sucker for a good love story and if it’s about a SEAL, that’s a bonus. “SEAL the Deal” has the bones of a good romance; interesting storyline, well developed characters, decent plot with a little of action that helps with the pacing and the steamy, tear up the sheets love scenes. Oh yeah, those are spot on. But, the writing suffers from all the fluff (unnecessary words that are little more than filler), and things like mixed up homophones, redundant wording, mangled sentences and repetitiveness. Was it really necessary to tell readers six or seven times that Patrick was not going to risk his heart again, that he’d had it broken before, blah, blah, blah. The writing is mediocre at best. I know not everyone will agree with me and that’s their prerogative but I’m the one reviewing. And that’s my two cents.

Wow Wonderful Story

First book by this author, I have already added book 2 of the series to my wish list. 😃 Rebecca the heroine is a single mom and a tough divorce attorney. Patrick (ice) is a navy seal and single dad. Rebecca and Patrick had met a year ago when she had a flat tire and he changed it, a year later their paths cross again. They began a friendship which grows into a relationship. But somewhere along the way Rebecca has picked up the attention of a stalker. This will not end good for the stalker with a group of Navy Seals watching her back. This book has a little mystery, some hot sexy, and rekindled love. The heroine and the hero both thought they had met their one and only love. One was killed in an accident and one passed away due to cancer. But along the way they found each other and a second chance at a HEA.

I am a recent convert to all things Makenna Jameison. Military romance is favorite and Ms Jameison does it so well. In SEAL The Deal there's some intrigue, suspense and danger but more than that this is a story of two people who have known love, been devastated at its loss and now have another chance for lifelong happiness. Patrick and Rebecca are single parents both with demanding careers and little time for dating. They also have a history albeit a brief one. A encounter as simple as one human helping out another. It left enough of an impression though for them to recognize one another four years later. They start a relationship that moves slowly and deliberately but one that they're both into. When it becomes apparent that Rebecca has a stalker, Patrick pulls out all the stops to keep her safe.

~~I received a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads ~~

This is an easy read, with a good subject and a decent plot.

Somehow the writing didn't quite work for me - in that everything was laid out too neatly and handed to me. I enjoy hearing the lead characters' thoughts, but not in quite so much detail. And every conversation gave me too much, rather than showing me what I could then deduce. That said, I was invested enough to read it straight through and will definitely look out for this author's work, as the story was good.

I really enjoyed reading this book.

Patrick is a Navy Seal that is trying to raise his son after his ex-wife past away from cancer.

Rebecca is a single mother and divorce lawyer. Her one sgot at happiness died in a car crash. Between her job and being a mother she really does not have time to date or even think about a relationship.

Patrick and Rebecca notice each other one night and realize they have met in the past.

This is a great read and it is Hot, Hot, Hot!

Hot and Sexy, Fun and Entertaining

Navy Seal Ice single parent of a 6 year old boy re-meets Rebecca a widow with a 4 year old daughter at a playground with their kids and then go for ice cream. Between his deployments, finding her stalker, both finding time they can be together they have to come to face how they feel about each other. A HEA ending solved after a tearful child states what he wishes and he wonders could it be that easy?

A CR.

Patrick, a Navy SEAL known as "Ice" & attorney Rebecca,
wanted to avoid entanglements. IMO, they fell in lust and
love too quickly. Patrick and Rebecca (each w/ a child) had
some sexy encounters. Ice demonstrated his care/ concern
best in finding his sweetie's stalker. The ending felt abrupt
and incomplete. Unclear if book #1 served as a 'cliff-hanger'
(?) b/c book #2 featured a new couple.

I wasn't sure I'd like this book, but it drew me in fairly quickly. I mean who can not like a Seal accidentally meeting a lawyer and then having to protect her from a stalker out to do her harm.
It showed the team was a team both on mission and off. They look out for each other, while teasing each other to no end.
