It all started in first grade when Cat Johnson won the essay contest at Hawthorne Elementary School and got to ride in the Chief of Police's car in the Memorial Day Parade...and the rest, as they say, is history. As an adult, Cat generally tries to stay out of police cars and is thrilled to be writing for a living. She has been published under a different name in the Young Adult genre, but released her first romance in 2006.
Today, she is a NY Times & USA Today best-selling, award-winning author of contemporary romance. A promo ho, she's sponsored real live bull riding cowboys and promoted romance using bologna.
After the last book in Cat Johnson's Studs in Spurs series, Spurred, I'll admit I wasn't sure how I would like Wrecked knowing the heroine in this book was to put it nicely, a real piece of work and not a very nice person. But as Ms. Johnson has done before she managed to change my perception by allowing this character to grow, change and find the happiness that has been missing in her life. Texas bull fighter Wade Long shows ex-super model and billionaire CeeCee Cole that she might be in charge in the boardroom but she's got a lot to learn about having a strong man in her bedroom in this sassy, smart and sexy story.
I love it when a confirmed bachelor finds himself bowled over by a woman especially one that seems so far out of his league. Better yet, I love when that same woman is completely intrigued by a man that cuts her absolutely no slack something she is very unfamiliar with in her life. Sparks fly the first time these two meet and to be honest they never let up. This is one smoking hot couple and while they go into their association assuming it will be a one night thing, that night turns into several days and leaves them both wanting more but refusing to accept or admit it. With both Wade and CeeCee having a bad marriage in their past they are relationship gun shy but the more time they spend together the more they begin to see all the little things that made the other special and let me just say they had no problem connecting physically, nope...not one little bit, not at all.
It was interesting watching CeeCee reevaluate her live after spending several days with Wade and it wasn't because of anything he said it was because of his actions and his outlook on life. I respected that she began to examine how her divorce had affected the way she treated others and her self-centered actions and made some great strides in improving not only her own life but the lives of others. Having feelings towards CeeCee really took Wade by surprise and he questioned how he'd ever fit in her life but as it became clear she was important to him he not only shut down some pretty nasty rumors about her but he also realized that she was worth taking a chance on.
It was easy to get wrapped up in Wrecked and despite my reservations I could not be happier about the way this story ended. Sometimes all it takes is the right person to change your world and when that happens life is pretty damn perfect.
First of all, I want to thank Ms. Johnson for getting me out of my brain fog from all the endless New Adult books I’ve been reading. At this point I was ready for a hot, Texas cowboy story. Thank you, thank you, Ms. Johnson!
Wrecked is a sexy, funny, and an enjoyable read for me. Both Cece Cole and Wade Long have survived disastrous marriages and both are left bitter with the hand they’ve been dealt from their ex-spouses. Though she’s a successful CEO of Cole Shock Absorbers, a city girl from California and used to getting her way, it is Wade’s take charge personality that irritates her and arouses her at the same time. Wade’s a hard working bullfighter chasing the rodeo circuit, and shows Cece more ways to lose her control.
The challenge is on, and Wade maneuvers them into the hottest sex; in his truck, an elevator, an office desk, which all happens to be on Wade’s sexual bucket list. Her resistance to Wade’s southern charm just crumbles. What she finds in Wade is a strong Alpha man that melts all her defenses. My favorite Wade line:
“Cece, don’t play with the bull unless you’re looking to get stuck by a horn.“ Absolutely loved it!
How can two so different people deal with the growing attraction beyond the sex is what scares them. I got nervous towards the end, wondering how it would end but finally had the “ahhh” moment, and the ending was so satisfying. Great job, Ms. Johnson.
I was given a copy of this book by the author in exchange for an honest review.
Wade Long intends on showing CeCe Cole whose boss in and out of the bedroom until he realizes he wants her for the long haul is this riveting western romance.
The reader gets caught up in this romance as a billionaire and a professional cowboy, alike in some ways and so different in others, find a second chance at happiness. The chemistry is hot and the sex scenes sizzles with red hot passion but the relationship is a white hot mess as both have some personal demons to work out and both seem to think that they just want the sex. The characters are strong, compelling and grab the reader’s attention while the fast paced and smooth flowing plot captivates readers with lots of romance and passion.
Expectation builds lots of tension throughout the story as sparks fly in every direction, especially since both want to be the one in control and emotional turmoil adds depth while bringing about changes in both Wade and CeCe’s lives. The well written scenes and details capture the imagination while the intriguing characters and events draw the reader in and refuse to let go.
This is a heart-warming romance where two characters get a second chance at happiness, they are seemingly opposites but come together is some entertaining clashes and scorching passion while experiencing personal growth and I enjoyed the story from beginning to end.
A Fast paced tale with interesting characters that were quite likeable. You liked CECE and Wade once they managed to get together. Even though they are from different worlds they somehow click and they made it work. The writing was enjoyable and had humorous moments that you’d enjoy. So if you get a chance, pick up a copy and you won’t be “Wrecked”, just surprised.
CeCe and Wade are total opposites. She is a millionaire and owner of her own company thank to a hefty divorce settlement. He is a divorced bullfighter. They both like to be in control in and out of the bedroom. What started out as a weekend fling turns into a week. When Wade leaves to go to the next event for his job they do not stay in touch but they both continuously think about the other. When CeCe shows up at a smaller event close to Ward's Texas home that he is working while on a break, will they rekindle their fling? Is Wade able to tame her some?
I loved how this whole thing with Cece played out. It was very well written.
CeCe bitter from her divorce was trying to figure out what came next with the rodeo sponsorship her company when she meets Wade, sex on a stick cowboy ten years her junior, learing more from him about what happens and how things work, even her mistake with a younger bull rider, hay flying with the chemistry between them, can they make a long distance relationship work, even with the differences between them, my bets a definite yehaw, I love this book and will have to finish the rest of the series, thank you Cat Johnson, Dana Zamora
How did I go from despising cece to actually loving her? The only way that could happen is if the writer has a gift. This was my first series by this author and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The way she made me empathize with every rider and every girl, impressed me. This was so thoroughly enjoyable that I wish there was a stash of extra epilogues somewhere. Lol It’s always good if I’m left wanting more.
*yawn* Older man (40's) and older lady (50's) meet, have lots of sex, fall in love...the end.
I didn't get the chemistry between the two. Their first sexual encounter seemed forced (see how good I can rock your world baby). Wade had an 'ick' vibe with his...I'll just drink and pick up a buckle bunny and all will be good.
I hadn't read any of the Studs in Spurs books by Johnson before Wrecked. I'm not sure they they feature mature heroines, but I was surprised that CeCe is 51, a well preserved by hard work and some medical assistance 51. I was also surprised that the hero, Wade is younger by 11 years and is written definitely on the rough side. Yes, he's a bullrider, aka rodeo clown, but that's not what I mean about rough. He chews tobacco, sleeps around (but has some scruples there) and "Stop" doesn't necessarily have meaning for him.
I liked the writing style and the fact the main characters were older. I'm tired of the successful career woman being a CEO in their low to mid 20's. Really, 20's? CeCe isn't my favorite type of heroine, but as a former beauty queen and her recent experience with another much younger man, I can see her obsession with youth.
Wade being a chewer definitely is an ick factor for me. While it's only mentioned twice and used to be (not sure if it still is) realistic, the first time was right at the beginning which put me off. I was also put off with him not listening to CeCe. Several times in this short read she tells him to stop. She's a CEO and getting caught could really affect her negatively, the last time was in private and he argues with her that she never said no, just stop. Come on now, that's some mighty dubious consent. And the last time, he's doing something much more extreme to her than she was attempting to do to him which he stopped. Why is it ok for him to do what he does and not her?
There are small parts of the story which have a two night stand of CeCe's pop up that really served no purpose. It was fine he was mentioned at the beginning so we understand CeCe's mind set, but the couple of other instances just seemed contrived.
The characters are ultimately likable and one can start to see how a relationship could work, but the ending is pretty abrupt with a HFN. Wrecked is for a reader who likes an earthier, forceful guy who is not a complete neanderthal.
I received a copy from the author in exchange for my honest review.
CeCe Cole, just went through a bitter divorce, been dumped by a man much younger then her. Was it any wonder she liked to be in control of things. Maybe she did have a slight attitude. She was tired of men. Yet she was lonely. When she is asked to give the buckler to the rodeo winner at event her company sponsors. She really doesn't want to do it. Most likely Aaron would be there along with the women he dumped her for. When the day comes not only is Aaron and his new girlfriend there so is her ex-husband. And she keeps running into the same man. Wade Long one of the bullfighters loves a women with an attitude. CeCe fits the bill. But what he intended as a one night stand turns into almost a week. The for some reason he can't get her off his mind.
I fell in love with CeCe and Wade. They were much older then your normal romance characters and I think that is why I loved them so much. They both had baggage and different outlooks on life. Wade traveled with the rodeo. An ex-wife with an mean streak, a daughter he hardly ever saw. he didn't want to go down that road again. He was to old for the buckle bunnies but sometimes a man had needs. He liked to be in control and going against a women who liked control there wasn't anything hotter to him. Wade and CeCe might have came from different walks of life but in the bedroom they were alike. When that overflows into everyday life Sometimes you just have to admit when you can't live with out the other. I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
I received this book for an honest review. Fresh from a divorce and a failed post divorce fling CeCe is a bit bitter about love right now. Dreading having to show up at the rodeo event her company sponsors as not only will her exhusband possibly be there but she may have to see her young fling and the woman he chose over her. What she doesn't expect is Wade the sexy cowboy who offers her a night of passion. Wade can't take his eyes off the fiery redhead and wants nothing more than to tame her in the bedroom. But what if one night isn't enough? Can these two strangers from completely different worlds find a way or are they destined to only ever be a steamy affair? This was a fun, steamy, fast read. I adored Wade between his take charge attitude in the bedroom and the fact that he doesn't care what others think he was an alpha dream man in cowboy boots. CeCe was kind of in the middle for me part of me get that the storyline revolved around her finding a man that helped lift her up instead of tearing her down but I just wish that she had a little more of her own confidence to build off of. The story was interesting in the way life seemed to keep throwing them back at each other and the hot scenes were fan worthy but I was missing the connection to the characters. For me it felt like I got glimpses into their lives except for in the bedroom i think i would have liked to see more interaction between them outside of their own little cocoon. That being said it was an entertaining book and very well written. This is a standalone with no cliffhanger.
This is actually the 1st book I have read of this author. I loved this story. It shows that things could be going very wrong in your life but then the unexpected can happen and turn things around.
CeCe Cole is CEO of Cole Shock Absorbers Intervational. She is successful, beautiful and well lives up to being a red head. She is feisty, sassy, and will not hesitate to put you in your place. She knows how to get her claws out and verbal fright if need to. She is a woman not to be messed with. She has went thru a bitter divorce with a scum of a husband. This has left her bitter, hard hearted, shattered, and wrecked. Will she ever let down the wall she has built?
Wade Long himself is a handsome bullfighter. He himself knows what it is like to go thru a bitter divorce. In away him and CeCe could relate. They both know what it is like to suffer pain, to guard their heart, to not trust, and to be scared to death of love.
Things seem hopeless for CeCe and Wade. There is not only miles keeping them apart, there is also the fact they are from two different worlds. She is rich and he just gets by. She is a CEO and he lives traveling from town to town with the rodeo. Things look so impossible for them and yet they seem so miserable when apart. Both are two stubborn to admit how much they miss the other.
If you are looking for a great story then look no farther. I loved CeCe and Wade. It was amazing reading of their struggle, love, passion, and healing.
I received an ARC of this novel from the author in exchange for an honest review and here it is:
I got off to a rocky start with this novel, since, from the very first page, the heroine, CeCe Cole, was as bitchy a character as I've ever come across in fiction--a total control freak, a nasty boss to her underlings, a vindictive ex-wife, and I thought that there was no way that I'd ever come to understand her, let alone like her. I even wondered if I'd be able to get through this novel because I found her nastiness so objectionable.
When I'm wrong, I admit it, and I'm happy to report I was wrong about this book. Cat Johnson certainly changed my mind about CeCe. A lot of those changes had to do with her hero, Wade Long, a rodeo bullfighter, and as different from CeCe as two characters could possibly be. He's also divorced, the black sheep in his ranching family since he chose rodeo over ranching, he has definite relationship issues too, and yet, when these two characters get together, they bring out the best in each other, and from the moment they first meet, the author had me glued to their story--I was hooked, and didn't even come up for air until I read the last page. In fact, I was sorry to see this story end. I can't wait to read the rest of this series!
I received a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. Although I own this entire series – Love Cat Johnson’s writing! – I haven’t read the latest of them. Life gets in the way, yeah? However, let me say that this is as enjoyable as I remember the series to be! And it reminds me to go back and make my way thru that TBR pile.
In my opinion, Wrecked has a different spin on most stories you read. CeCe Cole is a rich (and yes spoiled by all that means) CEO who is having a tough time of late in her personal life. I won’t go into details; you can read the story. And Wade Long is a professional cowboy who is NOT rich and alpha to his core! Sparks fly, as you can imagine. These two are wounded souls who find each other and trust me, the story is sexy, hawt, fun, touching, maddening, and gawd-I-love-how-they-can-hit-below-the-belt to stand up for one another!
It’s a fast read, at least for me, but fun and entertaining. I like these two!
Rough-around-the-edges cowboy and recently-divorced female CEO practically go up in flames when they meet at a rodeo. Nice and hot, this book also packs in emotions and a little humor. I read right through it and enjoyed all of it.
I like that the characters are older than usual (without it being a gimmick) and they have some different wants and behaviors that keep the book fresh and interesting. The story is tightly written, and it packs a lot of entertainment into a hot erotic romance. Wade is one creative dude in the bedroom (and the elevator, the truck, the ex-husband's office, etc).
I hadn't read anything in this series before I was given a free copy of Wrecked (in return for an honest review), but I'm a fan now.
I was given this ARC in exchange for an honest review. This is my honest opinion without any influence by the author in anyway. This is the first book I have read by Cat Johnson. This is a sweet story about finding love in an unlikely place for CeCe. Recovering from her divorce, she ends up in the world of bull riding. Which is a far cry from her CEO Corporate world.Wade is a bullfighter in the world of bull riding. These two meet and attitudes collide. Can these two meet in the middle? Will CeCe get over her hurt the divorce caused? Will Wade decide he might need CeCe for more than a fling? I enjoyed this story and give it 4 stars.
Great Book! This is a great book; this is the ninth book in the Studs in Spurs series by Cat Johnson. Wade Long is a professional cowboy who is a pro bull rider. CeCe Cole is a spoiled rich CEO who is recovering from a divorce. They are both strong willed so when they meet there is major sparks both in the bedroom and out. If you are looking for a great romance that will keep you turning the pages, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to the next book by this author. A Review copy was provided to me in exchange for a fair and honest review. The free book held no determination on my personal review.
I was given a complimentary copy for an honest review by author Cat Johnson.
CeCe Cole has gone through a messy divorce and a weekend romance but now she is along with her ego hurt. At a rodeo event she comes in contact with a man who does not let her push him around but he pushes her buttons. Wade Long has worked the rodeo circuit for years but when he meets CeCe he has other thoughts on his mind. He wonders if he can spend time with her for good and not just for a week.
Loved the characters and the story line in this book. This is my first book by the author but it wont be the last.
This is for mature romance book lovers because of sexual content and adult language.
Take it as it comes - Wade is surprised when he meets CeCe. The attraction is sizzling and what starts of as a one night stands grows into more. question will be can and do they want to make it work? a lot of emotions play in this story. self proclaimed single guy enjoying women along the circuit. CeCe just getting out of her marriage, battling with her emotions. a tale of two unlikely people coming together, enjoying each other. it was well written, natural to read and certainly hot to read. after reading this story you wished you had a wade of your own, he's as wicked and naughty as they come! free copy gifted in exchange for an honest review
After the mediocre previous installment in this series, I was a little hesitant to pick this one up. How was the author going to redeem CeCe Cole, the shallow cougar who shamelessly chased Aaron in Spurred? I needn't have worried...by the end of this book I not only liked but even admired CeCe. Turns out she was a perfect match for the crass, tobacco chewing (yuck!) and dominating Wade. Who would have thought?
This was definitely one of the best of the recent batch of Studs in Spurs.
I received a free copy in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed this book. One thing that I really liked was the fact that the hero and heroine were older. Wade Long was in his early forties and Ce Ce Cole was in her early fifties. Both had been through bad divorces and both had no intention of ever falling in love or having another serious relationship again. Ce Ce is the CEO of the company that sponsors the rodeo that Wade works for. She is a woman who likes to be in control but once she meets Wade, she finds that maybe being in control all the time isn't what she really needs. I really enjoyed this and might have to check out the others in the series.
I received an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. This is a great romance about two "older" adults who find that one night together isn't enough. CeCe is beautiful but lonely and Wade is a sexy alpha who shows her who's boss in and out of the bedroom. I loved this story and the characters of CeCe and Wade. The story has a nice flow and the sex scenes are flaming hot. I enjoyed every minute of it.
I was pleasantly surprised by this book. I have had a bad string lately so it was nice to find something that was well written and readable. CeCe and Wade are not 20 something just out of college kids. They are mature adults who have lived through the wringer of love and and divorce and built up careers and lives.
CeCe has a pretty tough shell, but Wade can see from minute one that her shell is protecting something worthwhile. I really enjoyed reading about their ride.
I thought this was an entertaining fun hot read. CeCe is an intelligent beautiful woman who lacks some confidence in her personal life. She's confident in her business decisions but that's about all. Wade is confident in most areas of his life except his love life...he goes for the hit and run. Yet neither can get the other out of their thoughts. If these two people can learn to trust themselves, they might have a chance at love. Enjoy I did. An ARC was given to me for an honest review.
What a story. You start out disliking Cece the spoiled rich bitch billionaire. Then you find the reason for her attitude and watch her open up as you read along. Wade Long is a professional cowboy that is fascinated by her. Her attitude just turns him on. When theses two get together steamy scenes follow. I didn't want the story to end.
I was given this e-book by the author for the purpose of an honest review. My conclusions are my own. I was not compensated in any way.
Wrecked: Studs in Spurs by Cat Johnson (Author) ** I received a copy of this book in exchange for an my honest review ** A very enjoyable, fast-pasted read. This story was a real feel-good read full of humor and steamy sex. The characters of CeCe and Wade are extremely likable and have fantastic chemistry. I strongly recommend this story for anyone who wants to escape from bad boy billionaire themes and loves a good ol’ cowboy read.
I couldn't stand CeCe in the last Studs in Spurs book by Cat Johnson. After reading Wrecked though, and seeing things from CeCe's point of view, and the really immature things that Wade kept hearing Aaron and his friends saying, made me take a whole different look at things. I love the maturity of Wade and the fact that it almost seems as if CeCe is being cared about for herself and not who she is. Great book Ms. Johnson! I love the different view.
Wrecked: Studs in Spurs by Cat Johnson is a hot read. This book is well written, loaded with spice, humor, drama and fun characters. Wrecked is a fairly short read, perfect for those with limited time for reading. CeCe and Wade's story is one you don't want to miss. I look forward to reading more from Cat Johnson in the future. Wrecked is a complete book, not a cliff-hanger.
I received a copy of Wrecked: Studs in Spurs for review purposes.
I really enjoyed it that the female lead was a little older. She's a great characters and the storyline is rather interesting. Wade sounds very sexy and loving.
The story was a little to short for my taste but I really enjoyed the characters and what was happening along the way.
Recommend to a more mature reader as there are a lot of sexy scenes and a few wicked words. I would read more of this series but sadly it's not in the budget.
