Jordie’s book is one I’ve been waiting for. Assassin’s hockey player, bearded and tattooed, vulgar, life of the party and Karson King’s best friend. Those are the things we knew about Jordie. In Overtime, you learn so much more. Toni shows a side of him I didn’t know existed. Even though Jordie has a lot growth in this book, he doesn’t lose who he is.
After an injury thats keeping him from the rink, Jordie spirals out of control. There’s no other way to put it. He’s a mess. He’s terrified of not being able to play again. And he’s not coping well. Hockey is his life. What would happen if he couldn’t play? What would he do? Who would he be?
Kacey King is also a hockey player. She has reached her goal of winning the gold in the Olympics. She’s made it. She should feel like she has it all, right? Career wise, maybe she does. But there is a big hole in her heart left by none other than Jordie Thomas. Jordie is her brothers best friend and a guy she completely fell in love with. They did not end on a good note. Jordie hurt her and she’s struggling to move past him. How do you move on from someone you love?
Kacey is one of those heroines I love. A woman who speaks her mind, has goals and ambition, loves her friends and family and takes no crap. She’s great. In fact, the entire King family is great. I love them all, especially their dad. Kacey is a lot like him.
After going through strenuous therapy on his knee and getting his head together, Jordie is finally back to normal. In fact, he may be better than he’s ever been. For the first time in a long time, his life is on track. He has goals and he’s trying to step up and be a better man.
Kacey and Jordie do not have a easy relationship. Once trust (and hearts) have been broken, it can be hard to move forward. But Jordie is nothing but persistent. And as stubborn as Kacey is, she has always loved Jordie Thomas and she’s beginning to think she always will…
What a beautiful and healing story. Jordie’s story was nothing like I expected it to be. I thought it would be all laughs and fun, but the subject matter was actually more serious than most of the Assassin’s books. I loved the risk Toni took in this story. And I did enjoy the direction it took. It had so much heart, emotion, but it still had the humor and steam I love from this series.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again, I am not a hockey fan. I am not a sports fan. But there is something about the way Toni Aleo writes her hockey books that makes me want to be. She is by far my favorite sports romance author. This series is something special. These characters are more than friends and colleagues. They are family. Jordie and Kacey’s story was a fantastic addition to the Assassin’s series and I can’t wait to read more.

3...Uncertain Stars...
I have hemmed and hawed to myself for a couple days now about how to go about writing this review.
But ignoring something doesn't make it go away.
And I did like it well enough, so I said to myself, "Self, get on it."
So why did I struggle so much with writing this, you say?
Lemme 'splain, Lucy.
In the afterword, Aleo talks about this book being a very personal labor of love. Aleo's mother - to whom she was very close - passed away in recent years due to complications from alcoholism.
Aleo discusses her struggle in coming to terms with these happenings as well as her own addiction to food - a totally legit addiction and one of the most difficult to break IMO. Thus, she says, this book was highly geared toward those struggles and their main component:

Without getting into detail, I have dealt with a lot of these subjects myself - both personally and with family members. I understand grief and addiction and I ABSOLUTELY empathize.
I have crazy mad respect for this woman.
1) For writing a book that solely focuses on such personal struggles, and
2) For having the lady balls to fucking say so.
So like I said, I have mad respect for Toni Aleo and I really appreciate the topics she sought to address in this book.
Therefore, anything else I say about this from here on out is strictly about the story - and the fiction of it all.
With that said...
I liked this story well enough.
It was fun to catch up with Ellie and Shea...
And NOT so much fun to catch up with Karson and Lacey.
Seriously though, Karson and Lacey's book, Laces and Lace, was my one and only Aleo DNF.
And quite frankly, Lacey is one of my least favorite characters of all time.

In A Very Merry Hockey Holiday, we were introduced to Jordie and Kacey's "relationship" and I was super excited for it to be completely fleshed out in this book.
But...

Things fell apart for me in this book.
Jordie was...gross.
Seriously, his name should have been JOYRIDE instead of JORDIE.
I get the whole "he's so awesome, he can get any girl" thing, but I am just sick to death of these manwhores who fuck anything with two legs and a wet hole.
And in Jordie's case, I doubt he would even require the "two legs" in that equation...
I mean, I get that he was all jacked up on alcohol and everything, but his actions between this book and Hockey Holiday, which were mentioned in parts throughout this book?
Fucking.
Yuck.
And, thank GAWD I didn't know until AFTER I read this book, that there is a novella, Wanting to Forget, between this and Holiday detailing all of these bodily fluid swapping shenanigans.
Thank FUCK I didn't know about and actually read it.

Now don't get me wrong, Jordie came a long way in this book - Haha, "came a long way.." Sorry, childish aside over - but still, I just didn't love him.
I also didn't like the "friendship" he maintained with a certain someone he met in rehab - or the way that was handled later on in the story.
I don't want to include any spoilers...but if I had been Kacey, I would have been kind of pissed off too.
Speaking of Kacey...I don't know what happened to her between this book and the previous books, but she went from being strong and decisive to being quite the puddle of milk toast.
And, aside from that, there is my totally legit main beef:

Again, I really respect Toni Aleo and the process of this book; however, my general dislike for the characters, coupled with some constant and monotonous back-and-forth inner dialogues prevented me from truly enjoying this book to the fullest.

FOUR JORDIE THOMAS STARS.
"Love wasn't a Cinderella tale, it was hard and it hurt."
Its safe to say that I had my ups and downs with this book. But one thing that I know for certain is that it's really obvious that Toni Aleo poured herself into this novel, gave over a piece of herself and added something personal that really shows throughout the novel. This author is my perfect go to author; I'm always excited to start one of her books, the heroes are always to die for and I've said it before but I don't think my unhealthy addiction to a sports romance will be ending any time soon, especially when the heroes are as irresistible as A Toni Aleo Alpha. If you like your romance sagas to be full of heart, sexier than you can imagine and complete with the perfect happily forever then you won't go wrong grabbing this latest from an author that will always be a firm favourite of mine.
What's it all about?
Jordie Thomas never did have the best start in life. Somewhat disillusioned by his loveless upbringing the only time he has felt secure is when is on the ice and loosing himself in the bottom of a bottle. Never believing that love is on the cards for him he spends his time working hard at his hockey career and playing harder off the ice with loveless one night stands. When his shady lifestyle comes to a head he faces the possibility of losing it all. This hockey hero is quickly heading down a path he may not be able to return from and faces the reality that it's time to face his demons before he looses it all; his career with the assassins, the one woman who may be his lifeline and himself.
What did I love?
I will always appreciate when a novel is personal to the author. It brings something authentic to the story telling when you know that what is inside a book includes the author's personal life. Toni Aleo brings emotion, passion and a wonderful story of redemption in her latest assassins novel and I couldn't help but fall for a hero that at times I didn't believe would make it. The assassins series for me is like a long term love affair that fits like a glove, I love all the characters and how their lives continue to live on as the books continue. My only worry is when Aleo decides to close the curtain on these hockey heroes, but until then I'm convinced I'll continue to fall helplessly in love with this Hockney team and their big romance stories. When I first read about Jordie Thomas in a previous book of the series I was already well on my way to crowning him my favourite assassins team player. I thought I had him all figured out; bearded alpha- hole, manwhore complete with a filthy mouth. But Toni surprised me with the depth of story telling and Jordie Thomas proved to be much more than that. This novel deals with some sensitive story telling and really highlights some of the issues that come along with a hero who is dealing with an addiction. The love story was fierce and the heroine was a ball buster with a side of vulnerable that was played out well. As always the secondary characters were a welcome part of the story telling, there was plenty of drama and Toni kept me guessing until the end of what was to become of Jordie Thomas and the only true love of his life.
Why not five?
Like I mentioned at the beginning of my review I had my moments with this book. Some moments where I was in love with the direction that Aleo was taking this book and other moments where I felt exasperated by the characters. The first 40% or so I was willing for the unraveling story to pick up pace and give a little more meat on the bones to the saga and add more to the story telling than just repetitive sharing of 'feelings' between the hero and heroine. Once I'd wrapped my head around facing a hero that wasn't at all what I had expected I then settled into falling in love with this story and the last part of the book really won me over. Toni Aleo is an author that I will always have huge admiration for, she works hard and continues to produce books that are beyond read worthy. As much as I wanted to fall completely in five star love with this book ultimately there were those niggles that I couldn't shake off. But not to be too concerned, I'll always remember Jordie Thomas and his brave journey to freedom and Aleo continues to have a top spot as one of my favourites.
Final thoughts ...
If you love a sports romance then this series will definitely tick those sweaty, alpha heroes that fall hard In love boxes. Toni Aleo is the queen of ice hockey romance novels and I've loved every single moment of reading this series. Every book brings something new to this collection of books and I love how this author doesn't just allow herself to let her books be carbon copies of each other, however successful they may be. Instead it's evident that each book is a challenge and her characters are constantly being developed and well thought out. Jordie Thomas and Kacey King will always have a special place in my heart they proved that love can conquer all and I can't wait to see more of them in future books to come. Readers you won't go wrong picking up a Toni Aleo book I can't recommend these book enough to you. Release date is not far away. Get one clicking, Enjoy ... Kisses

First impressions before going into this:
Jordie really f*#ked up in Wanting to Forget, the introduction to him and Kacey. I was doubtful and a bit pensive as to how Toni was going to redeem his character, but luckily, by the end of reading Overtime I was finally won over. *cue in fireworks*
And after:
Having royally screwed up in his love and career life, Jordie Thomas finds himself dwindling in a downward spiral, and in need of a major wake up call and reality check.
Enter- Kacey King,
a now decorated Olympic champion, still picking up the pieces after being abruptly dismissed by Jordie, and finds herself taking up a job with the Nashville Assassins.
There, as you would say, things get tricky but interesting, as both are forced to confront unresolved conflicts and issues.
But with Jordie’s past plaguing him and Kacey trying to move on from the man who stomped all over her heart, things will not be as smooth sailing for them… and neither will be Jordie’s future as part of the Nashville Assassins roster.
Author Toni Aleo really raises the bar, eyebrows, and expectations in this latest installment of her patented series.
I was very fearful at first, but while reading it, I wanted to slap some sense into Jordie, and in the end, changed my tune into cheering him on.
As for Kacey, I admired her. I really got her feelings and reservations about Jordie and her pensiveness about giving him a second chance after he let her down.

First impressions before going into this:
Jordie really f*#ked up in Wanting to Forget, the introduction to him and Kacey. I was doubtful and a bit pensive as to how Toni was going to redeem his character, but luckily, by the end of reading Overtime I was finally won over. *cue in fireworks*
And after:
Having royally screwed up in his love and career life, Jordie Thomas finds himself dwindling in a downward spiral, and in need of a major wake up call and reality check.
Enter- Kacey King,
a now decorated Olympic champion, still picking up the pieces after being abruptly dismissed by Jordie, and finds herself taking up a job with the Nashville Assassins.
There, as you would say, things get tricky but interesting, as both are forced to confront unresolved conflicts and issues.

Author Toni Aleo really raises the bar, eyebrows, and expectations in this latest installment of her patented series.
I was very fearful at first, but while reading it, I wanted to slap some sense into Jordie, and in the end, changed my tune into cheering him on.
As for Kacey, I admired her. I really got her feelings and reservations about Jordie and her pensiveness about giving him a second chance after he let her down.

Wow this one hit close to home for me. My mom is an addict and everything Kacey questioned herself about, I've been there. It's not only hard for an addict but everyone they leave in their destruction.
If not for some pointless drama in the end then I would have given this one 5 stars.

3.5 (rounded to a 4) Sugar Thighs Stars!
I’m sure this is going to sound weird but there was actually too much going on in this storyline. Entirely too much drama for one couple to have to endure. Exes, addiction, children, parents and so on. It was exhausting.
It keeps you interested but it made me tired. I’m doing one more in this series because it is a short one and I already have it on my Kindle but then I am done for now.
I think it might just be me since other people seemed to like it just fine. Maybe I should not have read them back to back. I think it would be better to space these out some while reading the series.

UGH. I wanted to love this so much but I just didn't.
I can't think of a single time where I didn't fall in love with Toni Aleo's characters, no matter how unlikable she tries to make them. Usually her "unlikable" heroine's are my favorite (I like when the girl is feisty/bitchy and doesn't take shit from anyone) but in this book it just didn't work for me. I couldn't stand Kacey. She was just too much. She was too selfish, too self-absorbed, too bitchy. Honestly I wondered if she's a bit of a narcissist because no matter what was going on, she somehow always made it about herself. Even Jordie's alcoholism seemed to be all about her which is just freaking ridiculous. Oh and the way she played and used that one guy was honestly disgusting and really pissed me off.
As for Jordie, well I knew from the beginning that I was not going to like him. I'm so freaking tired of the man whore heroes you cannot even begin to understand. Yes I feel for Jordie and think he's incredibly strong to fight his addiction but to be honest he got on my nerves a bit too. The way he treated Kacey in the past was (to me) unforgivable and I don't feel like he really worked hard to earn her forgiveness. He always gets what he wants and she always forgives him even when he does the unforgivable and it really bothered me. I could tell that Aleo was really trying to make the reader love and feel sympathetic for Jordie with his whole tragic childhood and while I did feel bad for that it still doesn't erase the way he's lived his life and the things he done.
As I continued reading the character grew on me (Jordie a little bit more than Kacey) but regardless I wasn't really invested in their story or their romance. This book was just way too long and a bit repetitive, it could've easily ended 100 pages shorter. Also the OTT drama at the end did more harm than good to their relationship and just made me feel more unsure about them than ever.
I didn't hate this book but it did frustrate me. I'm disappointed because I don't think I've ever given a Toni Also book lower than a 4 star before and I was excited to get back into this series but this was not what I was expecting. I'll still be reading this series because it's my favorite hockey series but I might need a while to get over my frustration with this book before I pick up the next one.

DNF @ 50%. I'm bored out of my mind. Come to find out there was a novella before this one. That might've been helpful, but I just read the reviews and everyone hated that. Really disappointed in this one. Toni Aleo is my auto buy author. Not going to give up. I'm sure the next one will be better.

I don’t even know where to start with this book. I definitely have a major book hangover with this story. It was a deep emotional read full of pain and fear, heartache and love, sorrow and happiness and finally healing.
After reading Wanting to Forget we already knew that Jordie Thomas was messed up but nothing could prepare me for just how messed up he was. He had so many scars that needed healing. It broke my heart to read everything he went through growing up that I have no idea how Toni wrote the words. Because she made you feel EVERYTHING that Jordie had felt. All that man wanted was to be loved. Oh and did I say his mother was a royal crazy bitch that I wanted to punch? Yeah no wonder Jordie had his issues.
Kacey never stopped loving Jordie even after he left with nothing more than a goodbye. Making her feel like she was nothing but a quick meaningless fuck. She tried to move on but knew that no other man could take Jordie’s place in her heart. Even if he hurt her beyond repair and left her alone to deal with her own healing.
Even as Jordie was still healing himself he was still swoon worthy. There was nothing he was going to stop at to get a second chance with Kacey.
“So while I may not fully know how to love someone, I don’t want to try with anyone but you.”
Jordie was given a second chance with Kacey but they still had bumps along the way. Kacey definitely didn’t make it easy on him. At times I wanted to smack her and at times I just wanted to hug her. Together they grew as a couple and learned to help each other heal and love and find their happily ever after.
“I’ve learned from my mistakes, I have. And, baby, you’re it.”
With each book in the Assassins series I always say Toni’s writing was better than the last one. And it’s definitely true. Each book just gets better than the last. I hope she has more in this series but whatever she writes I know I won’t hesitate to pick it up and read it.

Overtime is the 7th book on the Assassins series by the amazing Toni Aleo; it’s a story about real life issues such as depression, addiction, family issues, betrayal, heartache and even feeling not worthy of love. Which I think some of us can relate to. In this story we meet Jordie and Kacey which we had an insight of in Laces and Lace and Night shift (novella). Jordie hides himself in alcohol and drugs to deal with a troubled past and a neglecting mother and uses hockey as his escape. But life throws a curveball at him and has to fight to get towards where he wants to be. Then we have Kacey, which is a beautiful, smart as, tough chick that has to deal with losing the love of her life. Trying to find love again by moving on and fight what deep inside she really feels. This is not your typical unicorns and rainbows story. This is a story that will pull your heart, it will make you cry, but at the same time it will make you understand that sometimes life has other plans and its not always an easy ride. I love this author writing and I can’t wait for more books in this series as I say to all of my friends if she publishes her grocery list I will read it.

Overtime is definitely an emotional read, which makes perfect sense because there's a lot of pain and scars to try to heal between Jordie and Kacey, and Toni Aleo's writing makes readers feel EVERYTHING! She captures Jordie's torment so well through her word choice and characterization. I sensed his anguish, his desperation, his desire to change.

This author,this series specially, is ALWAYS a one click for me. Jordie and Kacey didn't have an easy road and it definitely wasn't always fun but it was engrossing. This book definitely moved into the top 3 of my favorites of this series. The demons, the lies, the indecision was all worth it. As always well done!

Adorei!!! Muito!!!
Esse livro foi muito mais do que eu esperava. Teve alguns detalhes do livro que eu não amei, como, por exemplo,
Por mais que eu não tenha amado um detalhe ou outro da história, eu não tenho como dar menos de 5 estrelas. O Jordie superou qualquer expectativa que eu pudesse ter dele e se redimiu completamente daqueles dias loucos em New Orleans.
Eu amei ele com a Kacey, os dois juntos são ótimos, puro fogo, força e cumplicidade. Eu também amei a família King, que mais uma vez não decepcionou e acolheu o Jordie reconhecendo o ouro que ele era. E a participação da Elli e dos Assassins para a recuperação do Jordie foi incrivelmente tocante de ver.
Resumindo: Livro muito especial, com uma mensagem muito linda de superação, força, determinação e, acima de tudo, de esperança.

4.5 Kacey and Jordie Stars
I didn't think I would like Jordie in this book. I read 'Wanting To Forget ' and REALLY disliked him in that. I do not like seeing the 'hero' with other women and that was a large part of that book. It was a hard journey that Jordie went on to battle his alcoholism and the reasons for his addiction are revealed in Overtime and they are truly heart breaking. I liked that there was enough humour in the book to balance the dark themes that ran through it. Kacey is likeable and I really felt for her character- you could see the reasons why she doubted Jordie's ability to love her but crikey....once that man sets his mind to something there is no stopping him. Natasha was a big deal for me. I wanted Jordie to be harsher with her- she said some hateful things. But Jordie handled her in his way and I guess she got the message to back right off. I liked the way Kacey dealt with her much better!
Just to say the whole name thing got rather confusing...3 female characters called Kacey, Lacey and Stacey....made my head hurt!!
I had every faith in Toni turning Jordie around for me. It takes a special author to take their readers on a journey where you start off not liking the hero but end up really feeling for him and rooting for him 100%.

I imagine anyone watching me read this book probably thought I was a crazy lady. I was literally laughing one minute and then crying the next. This book literally shreds your heart but then starts to repair it, and then rips it apart again. It's a vicious cycle. I loved this book, everyone has a little crazy in them right? You can feel the love that Jordie and Kacey have, the struggle that Jordie has with his alcoholism, you just have so many emotions going all over the place reading this book. It's crazy, I'm telling you! Everyone should have parents like Kacey and Karson, what a truly amazing couple. Jazz hands!!! Whenever I see the words Jazz Hands, I'm going to think of this book. No matter how many books I read, I'll remember this one! Do guys really talk about pinterest? Too funny!!! I absolutely loved this book! Love this series (yes, you get to see some of the other guys)! I have loved almost all of this series. One or Two books were not my favorite but def worth reading! But this book had drama like with a capital D. I liked Jordie just fine but Kacey and I were on the outs for most of the book.
It's not that I don't like her, I just didn't like the way she acted a bit whinny in my opinions but still loved this book poor Jordie went through HELL! And he came out on top even with all his struggles he over came it and still got the girl I mean total hunky hero in my books. <3

A história é bem escrita e a autora consegue nos passar perfeitamente as dificuldades que um viciado encontra para se recuperar.
Mas como disse a Val na sua brilhante resenha o herói é um "manwhore who fuck anything with two legs and a wet hole" e fica difícil para o leitor simpatizar com ele!
Mas a nota da autora no final do livro foi muito sincera, honesta e emocionante. Parabéns para ela, ganhou meu respeito e admiração!

After reading Wanting to Forget, it really left me wanting to forget Jordie's horrible behavior. I understood he was hurting and messed up, but I really disliked his choices and I was really worried about reading this one. I was hoping Jordie could redeem himself in my eyes, but I thought it would be an uphill battle.
Jordie has had a rough life with pain and loss. He has put up walls, and numbed his pain with alcohol, women, and poor choices, but never really faced the root of his problem. He has serious trust issues and fears of getting close. Hockey is what he lives for. But now he is realizing what he is missing as well.
His best friend Karsen King got close and so did his sister Kacey. When Jordie was injured and at his worst, Kacey was there for him. But when things got too real, he pushed her as far away as possible.
Kacey is fierce, feisty, unfiltered, stubborn, impulsive, and loving. She has always liked Jordie and hoped to be the one to fix him. But she was left abandoned and hurt. She is still looking for her happy ever after.
Jordie has a long road ahead of him with facing his demons, making amends, and moving forward. I have to admit I was able to forgive him early on. I felt his pain, remorse, and vulnerability. I wanted him to dig deep, heal, and succeed. And I wanted him to win Kacey back.
But Kacey is still hurt and angry. Her trust has been shattered and she has no faith in her own choices or his. She has other opportunities for safer relationships. Jordie just needs a chance and is willing to work for it, but she will take a lot of convincing.
Will they get their second chance or will fears, insecurities, and demons come back and break them both again?
This is a story about making amends, fixing mistakes, believing in yourself and others. They will have to conquer fears, trust issues, insecurities, in order to have hope for love and a life worth living. They have real struggles and plenty of trials and tribulations. But that also gives them opportunities for growth, understanding, forgiveness, and redemption. They both have broken each other, but at the same time they fit together and it is a matter of if they can just keep it all together. Not only do they have each other and something to fight for, but they also have some good people in their corner. I love their relationship with Karsen and Lacey (Laces and Lace) and the King parents, Karl and Regina. I kind of want to be adopted by the King family. I am always glad to see more with Elli and Shea and the whole Assassins team. I liked the addition of Benji, and seeing Baylor Moore and Jayden Sinclair from Clipped by Love. There were also some antagonists that I literally wanted to shake.
This was one of the more emotional and heartfelt Assassins books It really was a long journey for Jordie to come back from. And I found myself being proud of him too. I was not sure he could become the hero I hoped for, but honestly I adored him. He was a good male lead, flaws and all. He showed tenacity and determination and had a loving heart once he let it show. He needed someone tough like Kacey to infiltrate it and believe in him. And even though she was strong on the surface, she needed him too. I really liked them together. They had fun rapport and hot chemistry. They had a connection that was not easily broken. I felt all of their pain and triumphs. I laughed, swooned, got frustrated and angry, smiled and even cried. Yeah, Jordie really got to me. It was heartbreaking yet inspiring. I will admit that it was a bit long and sometimes it felt that way, but the characters had a lot to get through. It was not an easy journey, but they took it on with patience, love, respect, and determination.

I understood he was hurting and messed up, but I really disliked his choices and I was really worried about reading this one. Toni Aleo is the author I one-click without having to read the synopsis of what the book is about. I know I’m going to be pulled in, the world around me with all its troubles and angst fading while I am taken to another place. What I didn’t know was that Overtime would be my game changer. She definitely upped the game on this one, it is by far the BEST book she has written, it has changed me, changed my perspective on myself and those around me. I will never look at those will addictions or problems in their lives the same.
Jordie has reached that place in his life where there is no where else to go. He pushed away those who loved him and he loved, he’s about to lose the game he loves, with nothing left but to be alone unless he makes some changes. It won’t be easy and will take some real soul searching on his part to start climbing back out of the pit.
Kacey had her heart ripped into pieces and scattered to the seven seas by Jordie. She wants it all, the house with the white picket fence, children and the dog and is working to attain that goal without him.
Jordie road to recovery was phenomenally written. I felt as if I was there beside him, cheering him on. I cried when he ‘almost’ caved in and was so SO DAMN proud that his friends had the staying power to be there for him…to help him and to know that he might break…he might have a relapse but that would not mean he’d give up the fight. I remember first meeting him in Laces and Lace, he appeared to be one of the good ole boys who drank and partied and never got involved…didn’t have the heart to love anyone and really didn’t want to. But as she always does, the author showed how a person can change. Her personal experience with addiction and being a loved one of someone with an addiction shows in this book.
I particularly loved how Kacey had her own issues. Her worries and concerns about whether Jordie would leave her. Even after things in their lives seemed on track, she knew they could be only one day, or one drink from it all to come crashing down. Only time and the continued strengthening of their love and trust would slowly diminish that. Nothing happens without hard work, changes don’t come overnight, the author again, does a exceptional job of showing that. Kacey is his MVP…in all ways and together they will be a winning team.
I loved how the characters of her other books in the series showed up and we got to see a glimpse of their lives and how they are all doing, happy yet everything isn’t all happily ever after but they are a work in progress. The realism in her writing is stunning, as well as how unique each book is, the characters continue to stay true to themselves and you can feel how hard Toni works at that.
Overtime is like going to your first Hockey game after a long…long summer. It’s like that Christmas present you waited and waited and waited for only to finally get it…You don’t want to ever let it go, you want it to be the never ending story. It is a love story to end all stories. I have always maintained that Blue Lines was her best work. I was wrong. Overtime is by far the BEST WRITTEN book to date. I highly…HIGHLY recommend this book and look forward to what she brings us in the future. It deserves enough stars to go to infinity and beyond.

I read this book. Wait let me explain this better… I slowly and satisfyingly devoured this book. I mentally prepared myself for this because I knew Jordie Thomas was a force to be reckoned with. I am finding it incredibly hard to put into words what I feel about this book, but please let me try. This book shook me off my axis. I mean rocked me to the f$^%ing core. The two characters that this book focuses on, Jordie Thomas and Kacey King, tells a story of loss, pain, struggle, addiction and a deep intense love that against all odds can be powerful enough to heal all wounds. When I say wounds, I mean deep emotional gashes that bleed and should rip a person to shreds, but are a testament to the strength and devotion of Jordie and Kacey. IT’S A BOOK PEOPLE! I felt the ache, and raw need of Jordie and Kacey. Toni’s words grabbed hold of me and kept me enthralled. They pulled me in to the point I felt like I was fighting right along with them for these two to make it.

There is a lot of emotion built into this book. I thoroughly enjoyed the humor and laugh out loud moments with the Facebook posts. I mean seriously Toni, you could probably do a whole novella of the Assassins Facebook interaction and I would eat it up. I wish I could hit on every blessed thing I loved about this book, but then I would be giving the story away. Plus it is pretty much the entire book. I messaged Toni because I can only imagine the toll a book like this took on her and I wanted to include this in my review. Overtime simply put is Toni’s finest and most inspiring book to date. She took it to the next level of romance writing. I felt Toni’s heart and soul in this book and I feel honored to have read such an amazing book. There aren’t enough stars in the sky for how many I want to give this book. Bravo!

Jordie. Jordie. Jordie. If you were to look up "hot mess" in the dictionary, Jordie Thomas would be the poster child. And if you read Jordie's novella WANTING TO FORGET, Jordie made it pretty damn hard to like him, even if you knew just how likable he would be if he got his shite together.
Jordie has issues. Issues he spent the first part of the book saying he didn't have. He'd already lost one of the most important in his life and it wasn't until the second most important thing was threatened that he begrudgingly took the steps to address his issues. And those issues were pretty damn horrific. But as he dealt with everything, I fell in love with Jordie. He was sweet, fun, flirty, sexy, and one with the dirty mouth. He was everything I love in a book hero and I pulled for him to get everything he wanted after all he'd been through.
I liked Kasey. Heartbroken, she managed to keep her life on track and start her life over even though she knew her new life was going to put her in direct contact with the man who broke her heart. I'm not sure if I'd ever been able to do what Kasey did (other than having the chance to physically hurt him every chance I got). But there was a small thing that bugged me with Kasey. As much as she kept telling Jordie she forgave him, she never really did. She held the past against him and almost made it impossible to allow their relationship to move forward. It was frustrating, especially when you know how much she loved Jordie and what he was doing to try and make things right with Kasey.
I loved this book. Loved it. Toni Aleo took a character who I wasn't sure how he was going to get redeemed and made me fall for him, forgiving him everything that he had done before. The story was packed full of emotions that left me with a huge book hangover when I was done. But these are all things that I look forward to in a Toni Aleo book and she never disappoints. So now that Jordie and Kasey have their HEA, I can't wait to see what's going to come next with the Assassins.

I love Jordie. Not because he's hot, because he is. Not because he's burly, because he is. Not even because he's mouthy. Nope. Because he's effing hilarious. This is a very hard review to write. So many things happen and I don't want to spoil it! We know the history of Jordie and Kacey. They were involved and it was totally casual until Kacey fell in love and Jordie kicked her to the curb in a horrible way. So much has happened to him and he's a flailing mess. He either needs to get himself cleaned up and back on track or he's going to lose the only thing that's left in his life since he let Kacey go, hockey. Kacey won the Olympic gold medal and now she's come to Nashville to work for the Assasins. She's still in love with Jordie, but she also still hates him for breaking her heart. When Jordie comes back to town and is also going to be staying with her brother, Karson and his wife Lacey (Kacey's best friend), he's determined to show her that he's a new man and get her back. And, Kacey is determined to ignore Jordie until he goes away. The obstacles that they two are facing alone and together and monstrous. I was sad one minute and laughing the next. The ups and downs gave me whip lash in the best way! I loved this story. I loved seeing bearded, dirty-mouthed Jodie get his book. He and Kacey are perfect for each other. They love hockey, they love to fight and they love to make up. Lacey was an amazing secondary character in this book. She was sassy and hilarious. The bromance between Karson and Jordie lives on!

"But, please explain to me, what In the ever-loving fuck do you mean by 'woo her'?"
"Seriously, Jordie?"
"No, really, I have no clue what that is."
"We are Nashvillians now. We have to be classy Southern bitches."

Nashville Assassins defenseman, Jordie Thomas, is given an ultimatum to clean up his act if he wants to remain on the team. He needs to face his past, including his biggest regret of letting Kacey King get away.
When I read book 6, Laces and Lace, I enjoyed Kacey and Jordie’s exchanges. They were extremely amusing. I anxiously wanted to read their story. They make an interesting couple, especially with Kacey being Karson’s sister and Jordie being Karson’s best friend. I was not disappointed. Overtime is a fantastic book that I could not put down.
I was not sure how I felt about Jordie in the previous books, but I definitely liked him in Overtime. Hearing the story from his perspective and discovering his past really made me appreciate him. My heart really went out to him. He struggles with dealing with his past and an addiction to alcohol. He works hard to turn his life around.
I really like Kacey. I love that she is a hockey Olympian and finds a profession in the hockey field. She is hard working and dedicated. She has the best family; they like to give each other a hard time (in a fun way) and care immensely for each other. She is a good person with a big heart. She has liked Jordie for a long time. I like that she does not give up on him.
I also loved hearing so much about Lacey and Karson. Just like real life, their lives are not perfect after their story is over and they have additional obstacles to overcome. I appreciate that they play an important part in Jordie and Kacey’s lives.
Once again, Toni Aleo created an emotional and believable story. The characters are down to earth and easy to like. They are not perfect, making them credible. Many fascinating and unexpected things happen throughout the story. In addition, many real life issues make the novel inspiring.

When I first heard that Jordie was getting his own book I was very excited. I knew his story with Kacey would be epic! I loved it so much I had to read it twice before I started this review. I wanted to make sure I didn't miss anything in their journey to each other. When I first read about Jordie in Karson and Lacey's story I was not sure what to make of him. As I started to read more about him in Overtime I realized there was so much about Jordie to love and I know now how Karson could stick by him like he has. Jordie has been through a lot in his life, his choice to push the bad down and keep moving forward was honorable but was not a long term fix. He had to deal with the past to come to terms with his choices and be prepared for his future. I loved Kasey since I first met her in Karson and Lacey's story, she was a strong but caring woman. I admired her determination to win the Olympic gold medal as well as the rest of her life goals. Kacey was always able to see who Jordie could be, see the good in him even when he didn't see it himself. When Jordie broke her heart it made mine hurt for what Kacey had to be going through. It was an amazing ride with Jordie and Kacey to get to where they are on the same page and truly together but I loved the journey even if I was crying right along with them at times. This was such a strong story to read with the connection between the two of them as well as the challenges Jordie faced. I still wish he would let Kacey handle his mom but understand that Jordie had to deal with her. I have been recommending this one to all my friends who read and I love love loved it! Five stars!!!!
