In his usual no-nonsense style, Praying Medic gives readers a crash course in economics and finance, explaining things in terms the average person can understand. He provides an overview of historic cases of economic collapse and determines which nations are at risk today. He examines the cause of the recent Greek debt crisis and shares the lessons to be learned from it. He shares a number of prophetic dreams about economics and finance, and offers suggestions about how we might rebuild after a collapse, if one were to happen. The final chapter discusses how the kingdom of God ought to respond to crisis.
This should be titled "Introduction to Economics." The majority of the book is just that - nothing but an overview of basic economic theory and practice. Near the end, the author includes a series of economically-related dreams he has had, with the denounment that he has no idea what they might mean. He closes by advising his readers to invest and spend wisely (Grasshopper). I really didn't need to pay for this book to know all of that. I already did.
Using everyday language Dave gives the reader understanding of complex financial and world economic concepts. Certainly a piece blessed by our Father so that we can be prepared and be a resource for others.
Took me a while do to my HADD book reading style BUT Dave use scripture & common sense to support his vision/thesis. Excellent & Depressing but God WINS!!!
In this great little book, Praying Medic gives a clear and simple (though not simplistic) overview of how the basics of our economy works and what the causes are of economic crisis. Using very simple tools, like looking at national debt-to-GDP ratio's of countries, he outlines which countries currently are in the dangerzone for hyperinflation. It will certainly make you listen to economic news in a grander context.
Although the situation of the countries may alter over time, the book certainly gives you something to think about concerning the fragility of our economy. With an emotion-driven stock market and our complete dependency on fiat currencies we are all in a situation that, once it collapses, will affect everyone of us.
However, this is not a book about end-time catastrophy etc. It rather gives some thoughts on the role the church can play during times of crisis. It also shares some of the dreams the writer had, that he considers as prophetic in nature and gives some possible explanations.
Recommended to anyone interested having some insights in a system that we all take part in.
This was a worth while read. I did learn some things about our nation's economy and I have a better understanding of some basic economics. The author paints a pretty realistic picture of what it would look like in our country did in fact experience an economic collapse. He had quite a few dreams that may or may not prove anything, but interesting nonetheless. The best part is the last chapter on how we as kingdom-minded believers should prepare and respond to a potential crisis so that we can be the light to those around us.
I appreciate the information on formation the author provided and the way it was presented. I agree the coming times will present opportunities for the Kingdom of God. Question is will we be willing to accept the opportunity?
