I really couldn't get into the book. I wasn't sure if it was authors writing style where is goes into so much detail it becomes distracting to the story or the fact the author tells you everything that is going on with very little showing.
I found the characters to be flat, uninteresting and boring. The female lead drove me nuts because she didn't seem to have any smarts even though she has friends in law enforcement. The "Twist and Turns" in the story are basic almost bring the story to a halt. Nothing in this book is surprising in fact the characters getting together and the ending is very predictable.
Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance Copy

I loved this book. The characters were amazing and vibrant. The action was great. It contains angst and love, strength and laughter.

This is Brooks and Natasha's book. Brooks is handed an undercover case and it in involves none other than his best friend's cousin, Natasha. She is suspected of trafficking drugs through her shop and trade shows.

Natasha loves her life, her family, her friends, and her little shop. She is packing for a trade show in Denver and gets a call from her supplier that he's doubling her order of these statuettes that she hates but promises she will sale. And she does every time. What she doesn't know won't hurt her right?

They've met before but only one time yet Brooks already feels this pull to Natasha. He will do everything in his power to make sure these accusations are true before they arrest her and if they aren't, he will help her out of this jam.

The question is, will her have to arrest someone who means so much to him?

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

In classic McCray fashion, “Point Blank” is an intense, emotional, fast paced drama and romance. The plot and storyline are riveting and grab the reader from the first page with twists and turns you won’t see coming. The characters are multidimensional, strong, fascinating and endearing with wonderful chemistry between Brooks and Natasha.

I can’t wait to read more in the series and highly recommend this book!

I was given a copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

This is an action packed story of a federal officer in pursuit of a drug cartel and the woman he suspects is trafficking drugs for the cartel.

Brooks is a fairly typical leading man/federal agent/alpha male. He has all the typical urges to protect the women in his life and as often happens in similar stories, he finds himself attracted to the woman he has under surveillance. Brooks is clever and strong and fiercely protective.

When we first meet Natasha she is a happy and slightly dippy free spirit. She owns an art and souvenir shop and spends much of her time selling her goods at trade fairs. But soon after we meet her, Natasha’s life spirals out of control as she is coerced to traffic drugs for a cartel. Natasha is an interesting character and I liked her better by the end of the story when she finds the courage to fight back against the cartel.

This book starts quite slowly but I enjoyed the action at the end of the story. Earlier in the book, there is more focus on the romance and sex than the crime story. The agent falling for his suspect is a fairly tired trope. The end of this story adds some excitement but this story feels pretty formulaic and predictable throughout. This is the only book I’ve read in the series. It works as a stands alone novel but I wasn’t engaged enough with the story to go back and read the earlier books.

This is the 4th in a series of Lawmen ....who are all tall, dark and deadly, willing to do whatever it takes to keep loved ones safe.

Special Agent Brooks Allen is one such man. And he is not a happy camper when he learns that someone in his friend's family is suspected of drug trafficking.

Natasha Simpson owns an art gallery that is very popular and requires her to do a lot of travlling where her art pieces sell like hotcakes...mostly to drug dealers.

When she discovers accidentally that she is being used to move cocaine, her very life is endangered and she turns to Brooks for help.

I really enjoy Cheyenne McCray's books. Calgon and a good sexy read with a cast of good guys and bad guys take me away every time. The hero is hot and the heroine is beautiful and fit together perfectly. I especially like the Lawmen series, as it is set in Arizona ... and I recognize a lot of places and landmarks. Makes me feel right at home.

I gave it 5 stars .... I love the series, I love the characters, I love the author and I am never disappointed.

The fourth book in Cheyenne McCray's Lawmen series. Natasha Simpson is suspected of being part of the drug trade and Special Agent Brooks Allen is sent to get the proof. But things are not always what they seem and Brooks is learning that Natasha may be as innocent as she seems.

A good continuation of the series. I liked it but maybe not quite as much as the previous books in the series. Still it had all the requirements I love in a book.

I loved this book! Each book in this series just keeps getting better and better.
Natasha Hamilton was such a fun loving vibrant person that never let herself get down. Until the world as she knew it took a terrible turn and nothing would be the same. Brooks Allen saw the beautiful woman Natasha was and knew he needed to get to know her. It was a damn shame she was the target of his new investigation and now it's hands off.
The chemistry between Brooks and Natasha was off the charts and hot enough to set my ebook to flames. Both of them were such strong people that gave it their all and held nothing back. Until that day Natasha shut down. She was the light and sunshine that brightened his world and when it stopped he vowed to see that brightness again.
I highly recon this series and Cheyenne McCray's other books.

4 - 4 1/2 stars!

Point Blank is the fourth book in the exciting Lawman/Deadly Intent series, and it's definitely not a book that you want to miss! With the intriguing storyline, complex characters, secrets, lies, betrayal, intense situations, danger, and surprise twists, this story will have you on the edge of your seat from beginning to end. A hot & sexy special agent, a beautiful strong woman, firey romance, and suspense...what's not to love?!?

Special agent Brooks Allen and Natasha Simpson met briefly at her cousins wedding months ago, which are also friends of Brooks, but due to an accident, Natasha wasn't able to make it to the reception. There was definitely an intense attraction between them, but circumstances haven't been on their side, although both would like to see where the chemistry between them could lead. When Brooks is assigned to get close to Natasha in the new case he's working, he has his doubts about her, and the situation that she's in.

When they run into one another at a trade show she's attending, which Brooks set up purposely, the attraction is just as strong as they remember. He's hesitant to get involved with her, not only because of who she's family with, but because if she's willing involved with the cartel she's smuggling drugs for, he won't think twice about arresting her. When Natasha gets spooked by an unknown source, she is adamant about him leaving her alone, and refuses to tell him what's going on. Brooks can see the fear in her eyes, is determined to find out who put it there and why, as well as figure out how to help her out of the mess she's in.

When everyone who Natasha loves and cares about is threatened, she's determined to keep them safe by whatever means necessary, even if that means not exploring what could be between her and Brooks. When her cousin almost gets killed by a car, she knows that she's in over her head, and will have to have help if any of them are going to survive this nightmare. Can Brooks help her, as well as keep everyone safe? Can they figure out how to take down the man who got her involved in this without him knowing? Will Brooks be able to keep Natasha from trying to handle this on her own? What will happen between them when everything is over, or will it ever be? Will either of them get the HEA they desperately want, and deserve?

Each of these books can be read as a stand alone. It's not necessary to read the previous books to understand and follow the story. I have read the first book in the series, but unfortunately missed reading books #2 & 3, and had no difficulty with this one. I will say that I enjoyed reading the first book, and plan to go back and read the two that I missed. If you're interested in the series, I would suggest you start from the beginning. You won't be disappointed.

I strongly recommend this book, series, and great author.

I have to point out that even though the story was stand-alone, that you’ll understand the whole story without reading the previous books, the characters were introduced in one. I for one, had read previous books, and I think Natasha’s character, the heroine, had been introduced quite broad. So I began this book by believing that she was used by the real villain, while even the hero, Brooks, didn’t really quite believe her innocence. I don’t know which one would be the better experience though. Previous books’ main characters also made quite an appearance here.

The story overall was intriguing, kept me turning (metaphorically of course) the page, and entertaining up to the end. The characters were likeable and relatable. I really felt for the heroine, where she embroiled in problem not by her own doing. It sucked, big time! So I was really eager to see her happy ending. The only thing that kept me from giving this book a 5-star rating was the way the story told. Something in it just didn’t really click for me. This happen for previous books as well, so I think it’s really the way the author told a story, instead of the story itself. If you could look past it, the story was good, really good.

I was provided a complementary copy by the author / publisher through NetGalley, but this in no way influenced my thoughts or opinions.

Came across Cheyenne McCray a while back and loved her Riding Tall Series and has been a while since I caught up on her other works. Her stories of alpha men and their protectiveness, their women and their happiness, are always emotional reads as they explore the turbulent path to love and a future.

Book four of the Deadly Intent Series, “Point Blank” takes you into the world of narcotics and how innocent can be lured and blackmailed into a life of danger and evil. Quirky and accident prone Natasha Simpson loves her life, her antique store and the little town of Bisbee, AZ Little does she know that her store is being used as a narcotic trade store.

Special Agent Brooks Allen is super protective of his family and friends and getting the intel that Natasha might be involved in a drug trade brings him to Bisbee, to get to the bottom of the truth and also go by his gut that Natasha is innocent and protect her from being killed.

Sparks flare between the agent and the lady, attraction leads to romance and love seals their future as they try to stay ahead of the present and clear danger. Point Blank is an interesting story, with enough charm; chemistry and wit to keep the readers captivated and enjoy the romance

The couple: Brooks and Natasha

Romance trope: romantic suspense
Series: Deadly Intent
Length: 324 pages

Plot: Brooks has met Natasha once, since she's the cousin of his good friend's wife, and he would like to get to know her better. But now he's been assigned to a case where she's suspected of trafficking drugs. He doesn't think she's guilty, but he doesn't know for certain. As they get to know each other better, Brooks finds that Natasha needs more help than he could have imagined.

Commentary: Natasha was incredibly, willfully naive, and combined with the sort of stereotypical new age characteristics (butterflies everywhere! vegetarian! hippie skirts!), I found her a little annoying. She was, I think, the kind of person I would roll my eyes about in person. Brooks, I felt for a little, since he really was just doing his job. Should he have told her sooner? Sure, and he really was going to, but I don't blame him too much, and obviously she didn't either since she forgave him so quickly.

Previous book in the series: Taking Fire
Next book in the series: Chosen Prey

This series by Cheyenne McCray is fast becoming one of my favorite law enforcement romance series! Ms. McCray writes her heroes so sexy and uber-alpha, just when I think she can’t write a hotter story in this series, she proves me wrong!

Brooks Allen is a special agent for Homeland Security. He’s none too happy that the sister-in-law of one of his friends is under suspicion for drug trafficking. So his job is to go undercover and investigate her and bring her in if necessary. Natasha Simpson loves the new start she’s gotten in Bisbee, Arizona in her new craft shop. She even enjoys the trade shows that she attends, despite the fact that she’s stuck selling some rather ugly figurines for one of her suppliers. Little does she know she’s actually distributing drugs. Brooks and Natasha meet up and become more than just friends, but when Natasha finds out what’s really going on, everyone could be in danger.

Such a great read! This was a page turner from the very beginning and I just couldn’t put it down. I loved Natasha and how she protected everyone around her, and Brooks was just an awesome alpha male who quickly realizes that Natasha is innocent.

Point Blank by Cheyenne McCray started off slowly ... almost too slowly for me. In fact, I almost quit reading this book . Thankfully, before I realized it, I was hooked on the story and read it to its conclusion. If you find yourself bored in the beginning of Point Blank, please keep reading - you WILL be glad you did!

Brooks and Natasha are well developed characters. Brooks is a federal agent trying to catch and take down permanently the Jimenez Cartel. (Is there another story here? I sure hope so!) Natasha is a colorful, semi-free spirited art dealer.

Personally, I feel the intimate sex scenes (only two) were a little too descriptive, mainly as I chose this week as I saw it as an action/thriller and while I didn't mind the sex scenes, they weren't really necessary to the plot, and didn't need to be so descriptive.

There were a bare minimum (maybe three that I caught) of errors in this book; mostly missing an action verb. Other than these minimal errors, Point Blank was smooth, fast action, great read!

I look forward to reading more books by Cheyenne McCray.

ARC - I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
Natasha believes the good in people.
She does not want to live her life distrusting everybody.
Soon enough, that belief will be tested.
Natasha doesn't know, but her distributor, Mark, has been using her art pieces to transport drugs.
Brooks Allen was assigned to Natasha's case.
His job is to determined how guilty is Natasha.
When they meet, he is memorized by her.
For sure, she cannot be involved w/ the cartel.
When Natasha is exposed, Brooks + Natasha will have to work together to keep Natasha + her family safe.
A lot of suspense in this books.
Natasha was warned not to go to any type of lawn enforcement agencies.
If she talked, everyone she knows will be killed one by one.
For Natasha, Brooks was her safe haven.
Their romance was so sweet.
Love the ending! Brook is so romantic!

It was hard for me to put this one down because I liked the characters so much. Natasha was such a quirky fun individual, and Brooks was very sexy in a western sort of way. They certainly made an odd pair, but it was easy to see the sparks that flew between them from the start. Brooks is unfortunately investigating Natasha, so while she honestly likes him, he had a hidden agenda. He knows he should tell her once he develops feelings for her, but will he do so in time?

I was familiar with Cheyenne McCray, so I was sure I would like this book before I ever started reading. I wasn't wrong. The pacing was fast, and the suspense of watching Natasha try to work her way out of an impossible situation drug me in. I find myself needing to find the other books in this series and start reading.

Brooks is incensed at the thought of Natasha, cousin of his best friend, as a drug trafficker. He will ensure that if she is guilty, she will go down in flames.

Natasha loves her little art shop/gallery. She still can't understand why the fugly statues she was given on consignment to sell are flying off the shelf. She can't abide the things. Little does she know that she is being used by a drugs kingpin to shuttle drugs via the various trade shows she attends. But when Brooks appears in her life she's not so sure that he actually wants to help her or tar her!

Brooks and Natasha had a tentative meeting before the case and I enjoyed how this story built on that connection. Brooks was kinda quick to judge at Natasha hippy dippyness but when he realises she is an unwilling mule, he will pull out all the stops to save her! Really enjoyed this series so far and I'm hoping for more!

This is the fourth book in author Cheyenne McCray’s “Lawmen” series. I enjoyed this book; I felt this was a great storyline for character Brooks Allen. I have to admit that I have read these books out of order but didn’t find it hard to follow so this could be read as a standalone. Even though the heroine wasn’t as sassy as I like them to be, I still enjoyed Natasha and her free spirited ways, I also found her to be smart, fiercely protective of her loved ones, and strong willed. She’s a great match to our hero Brooks. But you’ll have to read for yourself to see what I mean. If you like fast paced action drama/romance this is a book for you.

'Point Blank' was sensational. Its riveting plot was filled with ignorance of drug smuggling, being drugged, an interesting ally, evil men, a broken statuette, threatening one's family, a budding relationship, another ally(?), attempted murder, more evil men, taking matters into a person's own hands, and love.
Furthermore, Brooks and Natasha, the protagonists, were ideally suited for each other and oozed chemistry. I liked the word choices the author used. They created a fast-paced and suspenseful tone. Overall, I liked the thrilling narrative.

A fast paced suspense that will draw you in to the end! A unknowing pawn in drug trafficking or a willing participant? Special Agent Allen must answer that question. The plot is full of twists, believable characters and love at first sight. An amazing ride from start to finish.
Book is part of a series but can be read as a standalone.

Things get complicated when Brooks starts to fall for her and she discovers what she has been unknowingly been doing. I had a little more trouble getting through this one. It wasn't because it wasn't good or suspenseful, it was. It may have been in part because Trace was purposely left out. It just seemed wrong. Overall, the story is excellent and well written.
