Fallen Series: A Jesse McDermitt Bundle

Rate this book
Finally, the first three books in the Jesse McDermitt Caribbean Adventure Series have been compiled into a boxed set. These books will take the reader from Jesse's last day in the Marine Corps, to the Florida Keys, taking on sex slavers deep into the Everglades, fighting terrorists on the coast of Cuba, scuba diving in Cozumel, Mexico and back again, with a shootout in Key West and plenty of action and adventure on the high seas, along the way.

Fallen Out, Volume 1:
When Jesse McDermitt retires from the Marine Corps at age 37, he has no idea what he will do for the rest of his life. He only knows he doesn't want to spend the coming winter anywhere cold. His greatest skill is killing people from up to a mile away and he knows there aren't many job opportunities in the civilian world for that.

However, he also knows his way around boats and has an old friend living free and easy in the Florida Keys. Being an experienced diver and angler, he immediately heads south toward Key West and the end of the road.

With a single comment, a waitress in a waterfront restaurant in north Key Largo shakes loose a long dormant dream and Jesse runs with it. With the help of friends, new and old, he buys just the right boat to live on and soon starts a part time charter business.

Danger lurks in the sleepy little town of Marathon, in the middle of the Florida Keys, as well as in the swamps of the Everglades. But danger doesn't expect to run into a man like Jesse. A man who will not only respond swiftly in facing it, but with a vengeance unexpected.

Fallen Palm, Volume 2
Jesse McDermitt lives alone on an isolated island in the Florida Keys where he runs a charter fishing business. Retired from the Marine Corps for six years, he wanted nothing more than to relax, fish, dive and enjoy the laid back lifestyle of the islands.

Russ, his former Platoon Sergeant and old friend, dies unexpectedly in a mysterious scuba diving accident and Jesse becomes suspicious. When his friend's son comes to south Florida to ask Jesse if he would take him to a remote reef to spread his father's ashes, the two men discover that Russ was murdered and agree to hunt down the psychotic killer together, unaware that their manhunt will lead them to a Caribbean terrorist cell.

Meanwhile, a beautiful woman has returned to the Keys on a manhunt of her own, distracting Jesse with the idea that he could finally leave his warrior past behind. The prospect of finding lost Confederate gold, several high speed boat chases and dodging demented killers, won't stop Jesse from revenge. Surviving a powerful hurricane puts everything on hold as a top secret government agency tries to recruit him into their fold.

When the sun comes back out, will Jesse be ready?

Fallen Hunter
Jesse's back in this exciting sequel to Fallen Palm. Grieving over the loss of a loved one to terrorists, Jesse's been holed up on his island home for months, numbing his mind and body with endless, mundane tasks.

A friend comes to him asking Jesse to help her dad who's been pressured into running drugs for a Cuban smuggler. Jesse finds out the smuggler is also an arms merchant for Hezbollah, the terrorist organization responsible for the death of someone close. Once again, Jesse looks to settle the score.

Fast boats, beautiful underwater scenery, and blazing guns abound in this fast paced romp through the Caribbean, with stops in Cuba, Key West, and Cozumel, Mexico.

Great stories

I just finished the first three of the series. All are easy to read page turners. I probably don't fit the normal demographic for this type of story... I've never been in the service, been to the Keys, owned a boat and am not a big fan of shoot 'em ups. These are nicely balanced stories that allow me to experience a lot of what those non-experiences might be like. Great, mostly likable and believable characters (especially Pescador the "unbelievable" fishing dog). You have to read the book to understand the last comment. Quite a bit of detail on the Keys, boats, boating, diving, military tech and weapons in an interesting and informative way. And not too much violence. I look forward to reading the rest of the series.

On his 20 year retirement, Marine Corps Gunnery Sgt. Jesse McDemitt heads for the Florida Keys, buys a boat and becomes a charter boat captain. He looks to build a quiet life but his scout/sniper skills on occasion dominate the action segments. What I most enjoyed about the books was the atmospheric focus on living in paradise; the laid back lifestyle of fishermen, bartenders, hurricanes, boats, tourists and all the characters Jesse meets in his travels. Reading these books was a kind of mental vacation, slow at times but rich in tranquility. That and the Marine Corps lore Jesse and his fellow Jarhead's discuss over cold Red Stripe beers. As a proud Jarhead myself, I can relate!

The Fallen Series

I almost didn't get this collection of books as I wasn't familiar with the author or the area.
I ended up reading the 3 book series in under three days. The pace of the books was very quick and rather it was a chase scene, a dive scene, or where he was on his island and planning on more improvements there were all interesting at least to this reader. I would recommend this to all who enjoy a good book!

Among the Most Riveting Books You'll Ever Read!

If there were a cross between James Patterson and Randy Wayne White, it would be Wayne Stinnett! Seldom is a novel or series of novels so riveting to cause readers to be late for work, miss a meal or stay up way passed their normal bed time! And seldom is a writer so gifted as to turn words into easily visualized scenes and even characters you could recognize on sight! A new benchmark for writers!

I really enjoyed all three books and Wayne's writing seemed to get better with each book. I thought that Randy Wayne White was my favorite author for this genre, but Wayne Stinnett has now taken over the lead. If you like stories involving the FL Keys and all that they offer, these are good reads!

Keeps you reading

Liked these stories a lot, enough to read them consecutively. Character is very Travis McGee. I could have lived without some of the detail, and the main character is a little too perfect, but otherwise good reading.

Action packed!

Hard to put down. Read all three and episodes back to back. Great action and adventure series. Only thing I personally thought was odd is at times it read like a commercial break about boats and electronics LOL!

Good yarn

This is a pretty good yarn. Rather transparent characters and the plots leave a lot to be desired but it's one of those no frills good fun series that makes a good holiday read. Don't rush out to buy if you want serious reading but certainly good entertainment.

Deep Emotions

The author explores feelings in wonderful ways. Adventure, intrigue and fast paced action are woven throughout. There is a love of the tropical Florida ocean evident in the entire wonderful tale!

Exciting

Jesse is a fascinating Individual. After reading the blurb about the author, I understand why he seems to be so realistic. I was just sorry to see his wife killed off. Really enjoyed all the different characters.

Jesse McDermitt is a SUPER hero!

Stinnett writes knowledgeabley about the special forces community, the military, weapons, boats, the Florida keys and dogs. Jesse McDermitt is as competent as Jack Reacher, but has many more friends and a lot more toys. A fun read all in all!

Plenty of action!

I'm exhausted after reading this collection! The author certainly knows a lot of stuff about a lot of stuff! It was so good that it was easy to overlook the unlikely bits of the plot. Great stuff!

Great series!

The fallen series Jesse McDermott bundle is worthy of my 5 star review. I'd give it more stars if I could. Ill be looking for Moore books by Wayne Stinett and add them to my priority read list.

First 3 books in this series. Quick easy reads and takes place in Marathon, FL so all places are familiar. Lots of nautical references, slow at times with repetitious review but skimmable.

Overall I liked the book but I felt there was to much time and a over abundance of descrition about the Keys and Jesse’s Island not enough of the story.

Pro military fan fiction

A gung ho book with ex military bad asses telling each other how bad ass they are as they rid the world of bad guys . Not a lot of need for trials or judges in this author's world as the good guys kill the bad guys as part of some macho code. A 15 year olds fantasy of what a man should be. The author was a Marine and seems unwilling for any character to exist who isn't a macho cartoon. Still, I have read several of these books and for mindless fun they are good enough to kill an afternoon. Despite and not because of the excessive and boring detail of every little physical thing (boats, fish, house construction, guns, tides) you can actually get a feel for physical world described.
