I was NOT expecting that. I was a dancer for ten years and this one smacked me in the face. Um, why aren't people raving about this? It was short and brutal. I even tried to look away but still read lol. I ate this up. Give me more pls and ty.

Danseuse by Danielle Sundby is a short story of twisted beauty and body image, and it is delightfully dark.

I enjoyed this one a lot. The vibes are unhinged, the prose is clean and effortless, and as one might expect from a distinguished editor of modern splatterpunk, the end product feels polished to perfection.

Recommended for fans of the gruesome and strangely beautiful!

Danseuse is a tale as terrifying as it is short; a spectacular example of body horror and dysmorphia with devastating consequences. After a brisk introduction involving cold and calculated patricide, Gracie focusses on her dreams of becoming the perfect ballerina. Only her methods are far from orthodox---think Eternal Flower Of Your Soul insanity. Over the course of it's 12 pages, Danseuse cranks up the self-mutilation and bloodshed rapidly, leading to a conclusion that is as devastating as it is disturbing. I don't want to give away any spoilers, so I'll leave it at that for now, and instead urge you to go check out this fantastic short from Danielle Sundby for yourself! Just be prepared for the SPLATTER! Great stuff!

An excellently twisted short, this starts soft but crescendos into brutal madness and extreme horror.
I think women especially will resonate with this tale, of wanting the perfect body, the most functional body, and getting it by any means necessary...
