The streets around them were silent and empty, only the occasional car drove past, appearing and disappearing quietly. The night was cool, and Olivia enjoyed the feeling of the cool air as it poured over her shoulders, down her back, and over her bare legs. She looked over at David and found that he was looking at her, a mischievous grin on his face. For the last few hours she had been able to forget that she was a cop and he a gang member. She had gotten to know the man behind the bike, and she had liked what she found.
“Well, this is me,” she said, gesturing to her tall building. David stood in front of her and then took a step closer until he was less than a foot away. It was their meeting in Hillary’s trailer all over again. Except they weren’t in some gross trailer. They were outside on a beautiful night with a thousand stars all above them.
And unlike the trailer, David didn’t hesitate or second-guess himself. He leaned forward and kissed Olivia gently, placing his lips on her for just a second. He waited for her to hit him or kick him, but instead, she leaned forward and kissed him back.

* * * SPOILERS * * *
♦️BOOK: #1 in GOD'S REAPERS MC trilogy. Novella length. Kindle loc: 1278
♦️POV: dual, alternating third person
♦️EDITING: only a couple minor errors found
♦️HERO: David Creely, 30--member of the God's Reapers biker club, tasked with keeping cops off the club's back. Would do anything for his club, even served six months in a state prison for interfering with an investigation to protect them. Tall, blue eyes, blond, shaggy hair.
♦️HEROINE: Olivia Waters, 20's--newbie cop, looking to help people, make a difference, make an impact. Tall, thin, narrow face, with dark brown eyes and short, dark pixie-cut hair.
♦️PLOT: God's Reapers member, David's job is to bribe, intimidate or use whatever means necessary to keep the local cops out of their business and away from their warehouse. His only roadblock is the tough, gung-ho newbie cop, Olivia Waters. The two are attracted to each other despite being on different sides of the law and share a steamy night together. But, when Olivia refuses to keep her nose out of club business, David is ordered to take her out. However, the MC clubhouse is raided by the cops and David blames Olivia.
♦️REVIEW: Very tame compared to most MC books, not filled with curse words, gratuitous sex and illegal club activities. After a bit of a slow start, we finally get a little action and a tiny bit of heat before the book ends abruptly. Definitely leaves me wanting to pick up book #2.
♦️STEAM: light-ish, 2/5 - 1 sexy but tame sex scene
♦️ENDING: CLIFFHANGER! NO Epilogue, NO HEA. David and Olivia's story continues in book #2, Whispered Truths.
