Something else is hunting Alexandre. Something ancient and powerful.

Shalini Boland is the USA-Today bestselling author of twenty psychological thrillers. With three million copies sold, her titles are published by Amazon Publishing, Audible, Bookouture, and Grand Central Publishing.
Shalini lives by the sea in Dorset, England with her family and their increasingly demanding dog, Queen Jess. Before kids, she was signed to Universal Music Publishing as a singer/songwriter, but now she spends her days writing (in between re-stocking the fridge and dealing with endless baskets of laundry).
She is also the author of two bestselling SFF series.
Hunted: A page-turning dark fantasy romance is the conclusion of the Marchwood Vampire series. It is a YA paranormal romance that all ages can enjoy. In this book there is a threat to life as they know it in their happy bubble at Marchwood. A young woman has come around and she is both mysterious and beguiling. Her name is Nadia, and she is going to shake things up in this book.
Like the other books in this series, the book is told in the present and in the past. In the past, we see an ancient people, their lives, practices, and tribulations. We also see the emergence of a threat and a hunter.
In the present we see Maddy and Alex, along with their family members living at Marchwood until a stranger comes into the presence.
I enjoyed reading this series and the last book tied things up nicely for the characters. Shalini Boland created a unique world full of interesting characters and did her research to bring ancient cultures to life.
This was an enjoyable YA paranormal romance.

Thank you to Second Sky and NetGalley who provided me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All the thoughts and opinions are my own.
All good things to those who wait. All good things must come to an end.
As brilliant as our age of self-publishing is for giving authors an opportunity to share stories without the constraints and hoops of agents and publishers, it is a challenge to find stories that generate the same loyalty and enthusiasm from readers as found in traditional publishing. A lot can feel lackluster, unpolished or or hit/miss but this series was something I felt true affection for. Enough so when I saw the final installment was coming out I was both thrilled and saddened to know I could revisit the Marchwood vampires one last time.
I came across the first in the series a couple years ago during one of my vampire reading kicks and was genuinely impressed as well amused by the story. Plenty of stories featuring vampires released in the last few years are melodramatic swoon-fests and while MARCHWOOD definitely echoes elements of the TWILIGHT sage it never feels beholden to that template. Sure, there's romance and alluring vampires but there are also emotional elements and humor that positively remind me of MY BLOOD APPROVES.
Flattering comparisons aside, HUNTED and the rest of the series has always stood on its own mirth and merit. One of the things I do love about this series and Shalani Boland's writing as a rule is you get multiple POV characters as well backstory chapters that tie into the present. It gives the world a sense of history, depth, and context for readers to appreciate how past actions cause present day consequences and I truly love a series with layers to it.
And now we've reached the last.
HUNTED continues taping into romance, mystery, suspense, horror with action to give the reader an adventure and experience. It manages to expand upon what the last two books introduced as well give a satisfying conclusion now that it's all said and done. Maddy remains one of my favorite protagonists in a vampire series. Her sass and sincerity never ceased to amuse or provide a human reaction to supernatural events, which I'll miss sorely.
Tearful and fond farewells notwithstanding, I recommend this series to those who enjoy vampire YA but find themselves wanting for more than a story with substance beyond romance. It was one that delighted me and something I thought back to warmly years after setting a book down. I hope others find their way to it.

Matchwood Vampires. I started these series years ago. Book 3 pulls you in and returns you into the war in ancient Scythia. You begin to see the over all picture of the past and it explains a lot more of what you might've not seen in the other books. You see the trials and fights of family and what it truly means. Everyone's roles in the other books are explain in more detail and it sheds light on it all. That gives you multiple POV as well as the backstory. I love that about this book. You'll experience lots of emotions in this book. Happiness, sadness, and much more. I was sadden to know it's the final installment but, it's ending is truly written well it doesn't leave you longing. I could see how this series could go on though with spinoff show. Hint hint lol. The words flowed well within the pages and was easy to understand especially in adventure scenes where some authors tend to lose a reader. Ms, Boland didn't do that. She kept you intrigued and on the edge of her words
I've been holding onto Hunted for a while, knowing this would be the final instalment in Maddy and Alexandre's tale. I'm glad I didn't rush into it as Hunted was worth the wait. Once again Shalini makes the past relevant to the present, the dual storylines working well together. Adventure, romance, loyalty, and human fragility are all here, creating an enjoyable read and a worthy and fitting finale to the Marchwood Vampire series.
So glad I finally got around to finishing this trilogy, this books been on a back burner way too long while I've been busy with netgalley reviews but my highest rating in at least a month. I love that even though it's been ages since I read book two of this trilogy I again had no trouble sinking back into the storyline of familiar characters...it's an intriguing story with a mysterious character looming that wasn't anything like I was imagining....Alex and Maddie are still awaiting the revenge of the evil cappadocian vampires of previous books and living on edge trying to come up with ways to defeat them....meanwhile the historical sections of this story go back to warriors in ancient Scythia. I love the mix of ancient and present day and as much as I enjoy the present day sections I can't help but love the historical sections and the attention to detail that sparkles through the way Shalini writes in such an enticing and enriching mixture of words that just seem to lift from the pages and draw you into the era....either the author has some extensive educational background in history or is very well researched before writing each of her books because this trilogy exceeded all expectations in its rich history. I loved the way the story came together and though I'm sad this trilogy had to end it was an exciting book affair with a brilliant conclusion.
Omg where to begin, sigh. This book is so full of mystery, suspense, nail biting, looking over your shoulder type of book, oh yeah and love..Loved it.
This is the 3rd book of the Marchwood Vampires by Shalini Boland and Alex and Maddy return once again to fight off the Cappadocian Vampires. Only this time something far more sinister is stalking them. A prophecy that tells of the bright one is coming and Alex is the one it seeks.
Throughout centuries the bright one brought justice to the evil ones, now it has almost ceased surviving, until it felt them returning, the Vampires..and it is the ancient vampire hunter, the bright one who will seek them out.
This book goes back and forth between Scythia, 514 B.C. and Christmas day present time. Dam this book has so much going on in it I just don't know which to list first. And if you haven't read it I highly suggest you do. I will be reading the first two books since this was the last one of the series, I need to know more of these Marchwood Vamps, lol. If you want to add your imagination to it go look up "Hell Fire Caves" in London, they gave me an eerie feeling since it was the type of caves I had pictured in the book, freaky.
Absolutely Loved this book!!! Very different and unique..
I have just finished this book and have more emotions than I can express. I'm happy with the ending, I'm sad that it has ended, but mostly I'm excited in what a good book it is!! This is a great series and I was so very glad when Hunted was released. This series is great from the first book to the last and is good for all ages. I am going to miss Maddy and Alex and everyone at Marchwood. If you haven't read this book or this series and you are looking to my review for advice, then all I can say is get the series and get comfortable. Because once you start reading, you won't want to put it down!! Very well done Ms Shalini Boland, very well done indeed!! :))
I don't know how Shalini does it. Taking 2 different eras and alternating between them until the combine to bring the story to a thrilling conclusion. The ending to this endearing series is perfect. Everything is perfect. Madison and Alex, Ben, Isobel, everyone of the Marchwood family even Sophia are written so well. I didn't like 1 particular character but by the end of the book, she had changed my mind
This book was amazing!! Wasn't your typical vampire story at all, and had creatures that I've never read about before. It was full of nail biting twists and turns from beginning to end. Absolutely loved Alex and Maddy together. All of the characters worked well together and made for a riveting experience. I read in one sitting because once I got started I just couldn't put it down.

Giusi Lap - per RFS . Carissime fenici, eccoci all’ultimo capitolo della saga.
What can I say about this book Other than it's fantastic I found the back story pulled me all the way in I'm not going to put a spoiler on my review but please buy and read this book then tell your friends it's well worth the read
I was taken through a world of Vampires that left me (almost) wishing I was one! It was an amazing adventure that reminds us of the value of family. I loved the behind stories that Shalini wrote, to help round out and give history to the modern story.
Hunted by Shalini Boland is the third book in the new Marchwood Vampires series............and what another brilliant series this was. I have loved these books especially the way Shalini writes its so magical from the very first page till her very last. It's a romantic supernatural adventure that spans the centuries........
Falling in love has never been so dangerous.............
Maddy and Alex are running scared. The Cappadocian vampires are closing in. But Alex is so busy worrying about the vampires, he can’t see the terrible threat right under his nose…
Something else is hunting Alexandre. Something ancient and powerful.
Will they both survive?
Be swept away in this heart-pounding tale of ancient legends, star-crossed love and nail-biting supernatural adventure.
Sadly, this is the climatic finale of The Marchwood Vampire Series and what a brilliant series this has been. It just took my breath away. Wonderful!
WoW!!!! Well, You will just need to read it. It will not disappoint. Just magical and a brilliant read! Especially if you loved reading Twilight or The Vampire Diaries this is a series for you.
I highly recommend Hidden. 5 star read.
Big Thank you to NetGalley and Second Sky for this ARC
Hunted by Shalini Boland. Vampires of Marchwood Book 3. My name is Madison Greene and my boyfriend is a vampire. And not just any vampire, one with brooding good looks and a smile that makes my heart skip a beat. As I curl up against Alexandre’s side, our hands entwined, I feel like the luckiest girl in the world. Wow. Really enjoyable read. Wasn't sure about Nadia. Great story and characters. Loved Madison Alexander Isabelle Jacques Freddie Leonorra even Esther and Morris. Twisty and gripping. 5*.
The Vampires of Marchwood Trilogy. Second Sky Books are publishing a fantasy trilogy by popular, thriller author Shalini Boland. These books are written for the YA market, and focus on the eternally popular human/vampire love story. However, Boland endeavours to add some surprises to her tales and I particularly enjoyed her mix of historical references through the fantasy elements of the story arc. As with old good vampire tales, we delve into the backstory of our heroes (or enemies in some cases, but that is enough of spoilers 😀). Spanning a time frame of several centuries, Boland takes her readers on a voyage from contemporary England to 20th century Turkey, to Cappadoccia and ancient Scythia.
Hidden' (formerly published at 'Chosen') is the first book in the 'Vampires of Marchwood' trilogy, and is aimed at the young adult market but is amusing enough to keep adults interested, especially with the decidedly dark and creepy beginning of Alexander's story. Popular culture tells us that vampires are dangerous creatures, with a thirst for human blood and can rarely be trusted. And getting involved with a vampire community is a fairly hazardous endeavour. Of course, following convention is a boring idea and our protoganist has other ideas.
And so, let me introduce Madison Greene, an English teenager who resides in care, along with her younger brother, Ben. Decidedly cynical and hardened by her experiences in the foster care system, Madison is disillusioned by the arrival of her seventeenth birthday. Once she is approached by a suspicious lawyer, who tells her of a family fortune that has been left to her, Maddie is overjoyed to accept her inheritance and run from her old life.
Naturally, when a character receives an unexpected inheritance, there is a complicated family history that will only be revealed as the story progresses. And Maddie soon finds herself inextricably drawn towards the 'statues' in the locked basement. Hmm, I think we can guess where this is going, eh?
Meanwhile, we have the storyline of Alexander and his family on an expedition in 1881, which turns horribly wrong when they encounter some hungry demons. And, will lead into the story of Madison in the present day.
Maddie, Ben and the vampire quintet soon find that they are being watched and that danger is not far behind.
When reading a YA novel, I often find myself thinking about the naivety of the teenage characters and also wondering what has happened to the role of the adults within the story. That is the case here, but when reading a fantasy novel, I guess that a certain suspension of belief is also required. And once that suspension is applied, the story becomes much more enjoyable.
Taken is the second novel in the series, previously published as Thicker than Blood.
Although the novels can be read as standalone stories, I would recommend reading the series in order for the full background and to understand the connection between the characters, in particular the older individuals who join the story in book two.
Once again, we have are two timelines, separated by over 1,000 years: one in 6th century Byzantium and the other in contemporary Britain but both storylines are interlinked and will come together in an exciting battle at the end of the novel.
I found the 'earlier' timeline set in Byzantium the more interesting timeframe. And the author used this era to answer many of the questions set up in the previous novel.
A critical character in 'Taken' is Aelia, a young girl living in 6th century Byzantium. Aelia is about to become the saviour of future generations. Fourteen hundred years later the lives of Madison and Alexandre are once again plunged into danger. This time around, our quintet of vampires and friends will return to Cappadoccia to save Maddie and confront the ‘Emperor’.
We author also provides numerous PoV from Aelia, Alexander and Maddie giving the reader a better insight into their behaviour and actions. However, I found myself struggling to like the character of Maddie as she seemed to veer from acting stubborn to damsel in distress with little balance in between.
'Hunted' is the final addition to the trilogy. And, we voyage back to 514 BC in Scythia to learn about the Persians and their battle against the vampires.
Maddie and her family are struggling to accept the recent events in Cappadoccia and the reader is given a peek into the thoughts of 'someone' who is watching them. A someone with vengeful thoughts....
Again, Boland effectively uses multiple PoVs to provide the user with an insight into the emotions and thoughts of her characters. At the end of this trilogy, I can look back and see the highlights and humour that is evident throughout. There have also been numerous comparisons to the Twilight series, which is probably to be expected in any YA series that deals with humans, vampires, romance etc. However, I prefer the historical aspects added to this series and that (much as I became frustrated at times), the teenagers did act as emotional, excited teenagers throughout the series.
Definitely worth a read and with this series I believe that Boland has established herself as a successful fantasy author aswell as a well respected thriller author.
I absolutely loved the storyline and the characters. I became completely invested in their lives and how things would end. I would definitely recommend this book trilogy!
I really enjoyed the whole series. It's a very different take on vampires, which is refreshing. If you like romance, action and a good storyline, read these books. Must be read in order to understand the plot.
Waited awhile for this sequel to the Marchwood vampires. I love that they introduced a new element to the storyline. It added something fresh and gave a little mystery at the same time.
