Stopped at 50%
I was looking for a short, angst free and light read. Someone said this book had it all. Lol
The lightness I must say comes from the heroine’s “air head”. I dislike when the author tries to sell the heroine as a smart, hardworking, down to earth person and when you buy it you realize you were scammed. She was hired to be a personal assistant but could not finish her tasks because she got distracted by other things.
And who knows me here in GR knows a little of my reading taste: I don’t like whoring from both mcs, I don’t like cheating, I don’t like triangle, I don’t like op causing drama etc. And there’s something else I don’t like: a tease. And this heroine was one. There was this scene where mcs were getting frisky and he gave her plenty opportunities for her to leave, he asked her many times if she was sure about. She says she wants it, she locks the door and they start getting down and dirty. Then, she just does this 180 change of thoughts, pushes the hero away and flees the room. This is also not good in my book. Don’t be a tease because it’s not cute.
And this book is boring. So I stopped at the fleeing scene.

** I received this book from the author in exchange for an honest review.**

Holy hotness was 'Up Close and Personal' a great read. The storyline blew me away. Once I started reading, I couldn't put it down and I love a great ending. The characters were great. Caitlyn was an awesome lead. I loved her innocence and selflessness. She had a great personality and was quite humorous. Sterling was definitely a no-nonsense man, but he also had a softer side. Moseley was awesome. His dedication and being so trustworthy were qualities that made him irreplaceable. The hot and steamy scenes were just that, hot and steamy. I had to fan myself a couple times. This quick read is a great add to your tbr list. I look forward to reading more of Magda Alexander's work. Definitely a recommended read. One of my favorite quotes was from Sterling: “You are the best thing that’s happened to me. You brought light into my darkness, and laughter and love”

I got this book for an honest review and I loved it!

From the time they meet they are amazing together.
He is such a wounded soul in need of someone who can bring some light into his life, and there she comes, with that captivating smell and her excitement about almost everything.
The fact that he is her boss should be taboo, but since she clearly wants it; it’s not so bad is it?
The way in which he starts to rely on her made me so happy and at the same time broke my heart when it was time to let him go, so he could take that next step into recovery.
I was waiting for the scene in the charity event, and hoping for them to find each other.
From the get go his reaction to her is PERFECTION, I mean; his body knows her without knowing how she looks like! It’s a dream come true.
They are from two different worlds, she is NOT what he was looking for, but his heart doesn’t seem to care!

This is my first story from Magda Alexander and one I enjoyed. I've read many a billionaire romance but this one was a little different. Sterling MacKay is still the very alpha figure and runs and owns his own company but his world is very different to the cliché world of most billionaires. Sterling has been left almost blind after a horrific accident.

Now he requires a new personal assistant. prepared for her interview Caitlyn Bennett waits on the job that will change her life, or at least have her able to pay off those medical fees from her mother's fight with cancer. Sterling although he cannot see her is taken by her at 1st glance. Soon he has her living at his mansion, taking orders and basically running his life for him. But in his heart he feels something much deeper towards Caitlyn, her smell, her presence and her yes sir attitude has his manhood making the decision for him to persue her... He wants her and WILL have her, it just takes a little time.

But their whole boss/employee relationship with the added sexual chemistry Caitlyn finds herself questioning her staying and working for Mr MacKay when he refuses to have eye sight saving surgery because of her living with him. So with a heart wrenching decision Caitlyn leaves Sterling and moves to New York for a new life and job. Sterling is left devistated and angry at Caitlyn's lies as to leaving but it serves its purpose when he moves on and has the eye surgery eith outstanding results.

Fast forward a couple of months and Sterling comes face to face with his Caitlyn... and now he can see her for real can he get her back, and will she leave the life she now has, or will she continue on with her lies of the boyfriend that bought her here....?

This was quite enjoyable, with the added difference of the main character made for a read that not so much had you on edge but feeling for a man that has been dealt a harsh blow with his accident and his moving forward and proving disabilities can be overcome if you push for it.

Oh man… This was painful. At the 50% mark, I had accepted defeat and was going to throw in the towel. But because of my respect for the author and how short the book was, I decided to press on and finish the book. I enjoyed the Storm series so I had high hopes going into this story but it was a HUGE disappointment. I couldn’t connect with the characters at all. Everything felt contrived and the build-up was nonexistent. I couldn’t for the life of me feel their love for each other. It kind of just came from nowhere. And his blindness felt like a gimmick. At a few points in the story, he did things that made me forget he was supposed to be blind until we were later reminded. But I will say, things did pick-up a little when the eye doctor came into the story but not enough to redeem the storyline. And the ending was ridiculously stereotypically fairy tale. Swoon, I did not.

In summary, the quality of this book was far below that of Magda’s previous works. It did not work for me, unfortunately.

Up Close and Personal by Magda Alexander is a sweet and touching story about Caitlyn Bennett, a young woman who earns a position as a personal assistant to Sterling MacKay, a reclusive billionaire who is losing his sight and wants someone who will treat him as he demands and follows orders to do things his way.

Caitlyn sees there is more to Sterling then just a boss and realizes that to give him what he needs most she just may have to go against what he thinks he needs. The book is a quick read because it is so well written you loose yourself in the story and it is over before you are ready for it to be over.

You can read the synopsis Magda posts to learn more about the story but what I want you to know is you will quickly fall for both Sterling and Caitlyn and see everything from both of their points of view and you will won’t be disappointed in how the story resolves. I only wish the story was longer, I loved the characters that much.

Caitlyn is struggling to make ends meet so when the opportunity to become a personal assistant is offered to her, she jumps at the chance. This may be her best option to dig out of her financial predicament. What she doesn't expect is to be captivated by Sterling even with all his hardnosed, demanding ways. Now she just has to keep her hands off her boss. Sterling is struggling to find a new normal after an accident damages his eyes. As he works to cope with deteriorating eyesight, he needs a personal assistant even more to help keep everything running smoothly. He's impressed with Caitlyn's can-do attitude so he hires her on the spot. He never expects that she would kick his libido into overdrive. I enjoyed the camaraderie that Caitlyn and Sterling develop. It's a ton of fun as they struggle to stay away from each other. I was surprised by the twist and loved how this story challenged them both as they reached for their HEA.

Sometimes you just need a good romance that makes you go Awe...!! And this is that kind of story. It’s a standalone with no cliff hangers, sweet and romantic.

Caitlyn Bennett is a young lady that’s had some hard times and recently lost her mother. She gets a job she didn’t believe she would, and meets a man she knows only from the media. Sterling Mackay is a man that was once very active and a daredevil who was hurt in an accident and is looking for a personal assistant. They come from two different worlds and Sterling thinks his world is getting what he wants and making people abide by his rules. I love the way they fall in love. Become accepting of one another.

It’s not a long story, and I read it in one day. But that’s because it holds your interest and the story is well written. Great HEA.

Not my first read with this author. I loved her Storm series. Magda, i appreciate the opportunity to read and review this book.

Sweet story. In so many ways, Caitlyn and Sterling are similar. They've both lost their fathers to tragedy. Their mothers are both gone as well (his is still living, but not "there" since his father's death). They discover a love that is strong, but they need different things. I loved how touched I felt by this story. It drew me in right away. I do wish there would've been at least a few more chapters, though.

Nice plot that is easy to follow.

This story was a fun read. I really enjoyed it and the characters! Caitlyn and Sterling were great and very well written. Caitlyn needs a job to pay off her mom's medical bills. Sterling needs a personal assistant to help him out because he has failing eye sight. They are both drawn to each other but because of the situation they try denying it and avoiding it...it doesn't work very well lol. Sterling is not really a people person but Caitlyn does stand up for herself when needed. I liked the characters byplay with each other. It keeps you engaged and wanting more the whole time.
The story flows really well and has a very steady pace. It's not a mystery but it's not predictable either. You will want to know how Caitlyn and Sterling will get over being employer and employee and dealing with his failing eyesight and whether or not he will have the surgery. The sex is explicit but does not happen very often though the sexual tension is there pretty much the entire time.

Percintaan bos dan asisten pribadinya. Bukan hal yang baru. Tapi saya suka banget sama novel ini. Saya suka hubungan kedua karakter utamanya. Penulis menceritakan novelnya sesuai dengan cirinya. Walaupun idenya udah banyak digunakan, tapi tetap punya perbedaan dan rasa tersendiri. Sangat singkat tapi takaran ceritanya pas dan menyenangkan.

Good read

Good story and strong characters that would be fun to learn more about. This was a quick read having the relationship begin quickly with the turmoils right along. The usual depth by Magda was missing but as a quick read it was good.

3.25 stars.

They are supposed to be American but they used some words and phrases that seemed more European. A few editing issues. The ending was fairly cheesy and read like an 80s Harlequin...where the hero goes from Mr. Alpha potty mouth to whipped boy calling her darling.

I really disliked the frequent mentions of his escort and hated the fact that the author was vague about

Worth a read but I doubt I will ever read it again.
