New! From BESTSELLING author Stevie MacFarlane.

Grace Wentworth and Effie Lane are cautiously optimistic when their dear friend Amelia decides to travel west to become the bride of a man she's never met. Despite their misgivings, they're stunned when Amelia writes to inform them she's made a dreadful mistake in marrying Mr. Jordon. Determined to rescue her dear friend from the clutches of a scoundrel, Effie makes plans to leave for Seattle immediately. Grace plans to follow when she can escape the ever watchful eye of her mother.

However, everything changes when Grace is forced to accept the proposal of a cruel and violent man. Suddenly, her mother's wrath doesn't even compare with what she would face as Horace Remmington's wife. Throwing all caution aside, she flees with Effie, even knowing her mother will most likely hire a Pinkerton man to find her—which she promptly does.

She just never expected to fall for him.

For Jonah Blackthorn, apprehending a runaway socialite seems like an easy assignment. Locating two young, inexperienced women should take him no time at all, and the five thousand dollar reward offered by the frantic fiancé will go a long way, as Jonah has plans to leave the agency and begin a new chapter in his life.

What he doesn't plan on is being outwitted by the brats—or the fact that Effie Lane isn't relying on her wits alone to get them safely to Seattle. He also didn't expect to come to care for the redhead traveling with her gun-toting friend. When he finally catches up with them, he's going to give Grace the spanking of a lifetime—or kiss her senseless. Maybe both.

WE'RE OFF TO RESCUE AMELIA

I love series books, learning more about the characters from previous issues, and this one did not fail to keep the pages turning. With one letter of distress from their best friend, Amelia, these two socialites decide they must leave Boston and go to the west coast and rescue her from H. Jordan.

The plot kept me captivated by the twists and turns that happen as these two, Grace and Effie, are on their way to Seattle. Effie has some common sense and is protective of the naive and gullible Grace. The dialog is entertaining, as are the antics of these two women traveling across the country. After Grace is forced into an unwanted engagement with Horace Remington, their journey includes dodging Pinkerton Agents.

We do learn more about the situation in Seattle from Amelia's story with all the extra mail-order brides. This story includes plenty of well-deserved spankings of naughty women. This is a fun new series with a great cast of characters, with humor but sweet loving scenes.

Made it to Ch. 5

Some might claim this is the perfect kind of sequel in that it keeps all of the story lines uncovered in the first book alive and thriving. I might have said that, too, but MS. MacFarlane chose to start the novel with Effie and Grace still back East. If she had instead started with the two girls already in in Seattle and used "lookback" to explain their adventures across the continent that would have focused all our attention where the true action is and seemlessly knit the two story lines.

She spends too much of the book's real estate rehashing issues from the first book til I got sick of reading one more time "the girls had no one else to blame for being stranded in Seattle." The girls this time being the not quite mail-order brides.

I need action up front, especially when reading a sequel. Give an inventive way to review the gist of the first book, then move forward. I didn't feel as if this episode was moving the overall story forward. It didn't catch and hold my attention.

When I first started reading this book I wasn't sure if I was reading about Effie or Grace. The storyline didn't really start to focus on Grace until about 1/3 of the way through the book. The two friends make plans to travel to the west coast to help their friend Amelia. And Grace has the added benefit of escaping from a forced engagement. On their trip west Grace is running from her unwanted fiancé as well as a Pinkerton Detective. Of course she falls for his charms and when she discovers his secrets, she's heartbroken. I liked how independent Grace was, while still having some self doubt. No one's perfect, but she's a good mix of reality. Jonah is a dominant man, but he's smart enough to figure things out pretty quickly and go after what he wants. Great HEA and lead in to Effie's story.

I received a copy of this book from the author and I'm voluntarily leaving my honest, unbiased review.

This book is about the adventures of Grace and Effie as they head out to save their friend, Amelia, from what they believe is a bad mail order match. Full of antics and adventure, this book is fun and steamy. I have a feeling book three will be a good one too!

I love this new series The Marriage Market by Stevie MacFarlane. I usually do not like historical romances but I found Amelia and Grace to be very enjoyable and hot. A little bottom warming is always fun. Perfect. Kudos.

The story of the many mail order brides continues as Amelia’s two friends, Effie and Grace heads West to come to her rescue while having to dodge a Pinkerton agent and a less than honorable suitor of Grace’s.
Well written, witty and imaginative, with a plethora of delightful characters and a heap of extremely well depicted shenanigans, this light and funny historical romance pulled me in and had me highly entertained from first word to last.

Lifelong friendships will lead people to do things that they might never have imagined themselves doing. Grace and Effie, Amelia's best friends, are worried about her after receiving Amelia's desperate letter describing what has happened with her marriage Hugh Jordon. Effie is prepared to head west to help out Amelia, and she encourages Grace to accompany her. Grace is a bit more reserved than Effie and worries that her mother will send a Pinkerton agent to bring her back home if she tries to travel to Washington Territory. Grace changes her mind, though, when she is forced to endure the attentions of Horace Remington and becomes engaged to him. Effie and Grace think they have the perfect plan, complete with disguises and assumed names, but they are no match for Jonah Blackthorn, the Pinkerton agent hired to bring Grace home. The girls are nothing if not resourceful, and lead Jonah on a merry chase which ultimately ends in Seattle at the Jordon home. Jonah is not the only one hired to find Grace, so there's a bit of intrigue there, too. The next book, which I'm guessing will be about Effie, should be as entertaining as this one!

The first book of the Marriage Market book was about Amelia and her best friends Grace and Effie. This book has Grace and Effie worried about Amelia and has an evil man pursuing Grace, so they run away to rescue Amelia. So begins their journey with many hilarious adventures which had me laughing out loud. Stevie MacFarlane amazing writing delves deeply into the feelings and emotions of the characters, not just Grace and Effie, but all the other wonderful secondary characters. There is a wide assortment of scenes in this adventure with romance, danger, violence, spanking and madcap action. I highly recommend this wonderful book and will be on pins and needles waiting for the next book. Bravo Stevie, you've done it again.

Ms. MacFarlane is a very talented story teller who draws you in with her interesting likeable characters and a touch of a sense of humor. This story is another example of that gift for telling a captivating tale. You can't help but be caught up in the drama of the BFF's that share everything and will do anything for each other including running off on an adventure that lands them all in hot water. Ms. MacFarlane keeps you chuckling while keeping her story real enough to hold your interest and make it believable. If you enjoy adventure and a fast paced story then this story should top your list for a great read.

The second book in this series is great! Stevie always does such a wonderful job! This book is about Gracie and Effie as they set off to save Amelia from Hugh. Grace’s parents want to marry her off to a man who is less than desirable. So, Grace and Effie escape to the train. Of course, the suitor, Horace, decides to set the Pinkertons after her. Jonah, the Pinkerton agent is interested in Grace, Effie he could do without. When he catches up with them, sparks fly! I can’t wait to read Effie and Sam’s story, it will be a wild ride!

Wonderful!!

What a fantastic addition to the series!! I love when characters from book one make their presence felt in book two, it makes you feel as if you are visiting friends. This book offers danger, suspense, and romance all weaved into a detailed storyline that will keep you turning page after page. Now, sadly, I am going to have to patiently wait for Effie's story in part three..... Sigh.

I enjoyed this second book.

At first, since I already knew the characters, the planning was fine but I thought that things felt a bit slow but not true in hind sight.
This story was so much fun that by the end, I hated that it was over and I wanted the story to have More details not less.
Can't wait for Effie's story.
Yum.
