Note from the Nightwatch is a clean romantic suspense novel, meaning there is no foul language, or sex scenes. There are moments of passion and some hand to hand violence, but no gore or horror. If this were a movie it would be rated PG-13.
I slurped up this book in two days. It is the perfect mixture of suspense, romance and Nellie K. Neves' knack for making the characters come to life. I liked Emiliana's history, the way she struggles to come to terms with her father's murder. I liked the backdrop of the art scene and the strength Emiliana shows when tackling all the hair-raising things suddenly pouring over her from all sides. I liked that she was not the helpless naive girl rescued by a strong hero, but that they both had their ups and downs, their strong and weak moments. And I liked the spark that was there from the start but never got tacky or insufferably sweet. Add a brutal twist at the end and you have a true page-turner.
I love this story!! If there was ever a time to be glad that I’m just an observer, it would be now. I would never want to face the decisions forced upon Emma.
Review continues in the January 2019 issue of The Reader/Author Connection Magazine.
I really loved this book, Rat and Roach made it even better and added some comedy. The hero and Heroine were both well portrayed and likeable. Just very well thought out and well written.
After her father is murdered, leaving Emiliana gravely wounded, her life unravels. A fast paced story of beautiful artwork, murder, secrets, lies and love.
A spy, an undercover, a man who wanted to love, yet was held back by his background and his current job…. A woman who was abruptly carried into the dangerous and secretive life of a man whose name was … Sam? Adam? Falcon? Was he simply an operative who had to finish his mission, or was he an assassin? Was he truly her protector as he claimed or was he a mercenary for hire?
“Somewhere deep inside of the solder-turned-operative, there was a scared orphaned boy that needed to be held and loved.”
When Emma begins to help Adam with his mission, she didn’t realize how dangerous it could be, or that she would begin to fall in love with the handsome stranger. But she was determined to solve the puzzle that Adam was there to solve. When she learned that it involved her father’s paintings and that he was involved too in the secret mission before his gruesome murder, she had to look deeply inside herself and stay strong.
This is an exciting spy story with lots of action, suspense, intrigue and clean romance. The author knows how to grab a reader’s interest and keep them reading long into the night until the satisfying end. I am really looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I have a hard time with this one, because it was both good and bad. In construction, it was rather terrible. Normal human reactions were choppy and reality was suspended as the author pulled the characters along as the plot moved forward, with or without them. The characters had no time to process, change, adapt, or become accustomed to drastically changing circumstances. The story was choppy, like a good second draft that needs some serious smoothing over but with a solid base. However, it did keep me reading. The idea of the story and the tantalizing romance kept me reading it, despite it's problems. Twists in the plot pulled me back in every time I thought to put it down. The end of the book was vastly better than the beginning. The end felt like an awesome action movie, with good pace and adrenaline. Overall, I wish that it had gone through another few drafts to turn a great start into a fabulous product, but I did enjoy it.
Great book! It has exactly the right amount of romance, action and intrigue. It has just the right amount of romance while still being clean, which I love. It is one you will stay up late because you just have to finish! Can't wait to see more from the author!
I admit, I read this without wanting to put it down! It's fast paced mystery and keeps a reader on her toes! It's perfect for your next vacation book...because it's so entertaining!!Can't wait for her next one!
Having met Mrs. Neves through Facebook and becoming friends with her, I discovered she is an author and decided to give her books a try. I started with her Lindy Johnson PI series and decided to give her other two books, Nightwatch and Falcon, a try. Normally, I would not have picked Nightwatch to read, but I really enjoyed the story line. If you are into a bit of intrigue, subtle romance, the battle of good versus evil, and internal struggles of knowing what choices to make, I highly recommend you give Nightwatch a shot! It has all of these dynamics and more. The question is … will Emma and Adam find the key? Watch for more from Mrs. Neves – she’s an author you’ll want to keep on your to-read list.
