Sequel to the #1 Bestseller, One Night With a Rock Star: part deux is the continuing tale of country girl Esther & Sky, the international music icon who stole her heart and turned her world upside down. More excitement, more glamour and more challenges await our heroine as her love and faith are stretched to the limit. From the sprawling fields of Texas to Paris in springtime, Chana Keefer takes the reader on this continuing unforgettable journey of first love one reader calls "what a relationship with God looks like in the midst of sexual temptation."
July 26, 2015 - I have been waiting for this sequel for what seems like forever! I'm in love with these characters. I just felt like we inserted a bit more religion and a little less character development this time around. Don't get me wrong I am a very religious soul but I wanted a bit more than everyone with major hospitalization time! Still well worth my time and left me with a smile. Aug 15, 2018 - Second time around and I still feel the same way... too much religious content and 2 not one major hospitalizations. I liked it but wished for more.

I received an Advanced Readers Copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. I will admit that I know the author personally; she is a good friend and role model of mine, however I tried to keep out as much bias as I could. With that out of the way, I have to say that I absolutely LOVED this book, just like I did with the previous. At first, it was a little confusing because it has been over a year since I read the previous one, so I had forgotten many of the characters’ names and roles in the story, but it did not take long to jump right back in. This book was a little different than the first because it took on a bit more of an action theme, but it still held the main purpose of fighting for a pure and godly love. I love the frankness that Keefer uses when the characters think or speak about God and faith. While there is a good deal of it at certain points, it doesn’t sound too preachy or forced; it is simply the thoughts and words of people who are full of faith and adoration towards their mighty God. I also appreciate the pains and struggles of life that Keefer is not afraid to address. I think it is far too easy to keep book characters’ lives full of happiness, with only shallow troubles or misunderstandings, but it is much more meaningful and impactful when they are forced to face big, real-life problems. But don’t get me wrong if you think that this book is only full of sorrow, because there is still much happiness and love that fills the pages. I am so thankful that all the romantic scenes are kept PG. While some people complain about that type of writing, saying that it lessens the romance and entertainment, I think that it really added to Sky and Esther’s love and respect for each other. For that reason I am able to shamelessly recommend this book to all my girlfriends and fellow women of faith. Thank you for another amazing book Chana! :)
This is a great two book series. I was pleased to see the variety and depth of the topics the author chose to include in her book. This book steps past the "typical" Christian fiction tackling hard issues and situations. She also included a spiritual warfare element, which IMO, we need to see more authors doing this as it is a very real part of life.
I loved One Night With A Rock Star so much I re-read it, something I rarely do. I eagerly looked forward to the sequel, Part Deux.
What struck me most about this book was the author’s willingness to take on evil, essentially freeing her hero of a demonic obsession. Not ordinary fare for a fairytale romance.
Kudos to Chana Keefer for her sobering and gripping depiction of the subtle manifestation of evil in our lives. My only qualm was what amounted to a lay exorcism of sorts, something I’d have preferred to seen addressed by a trained priest exorcist.
Part Deux reads more like a memoir than a romance in its storytelling. The upside is that the reader is further drawn into the lives of Esther and Sky, whose newlywed love is endearing. It’s a joy to witness (“offscreen”) the consummation and continuation of their married union and loving intimacy. It is real and sensual without become tawdry or in any way pornographic.
The downside to this type of storytelling is a rambling plot, which at times did not seem cohesive. It may be that I’ve become a more critical reader since I read One Night With A Rock Star, but this book felt less structured, lacking in foreshadowing, and therefore less satisfying. Again, the draw here is the characters.
There were some good subplots involving sex trafficking and the “adult” industry. The struggles of marriage, difficulties of superstardom, pregnancy loss, and incorporating faith into life with integrity and without compromise are all addressed. They are handled well, but I wondered at times if the author tried to tackle too much.
All in all, an enjoyable continuation of Esther and Sky’s love story.
One Night With A Rock Star part deux was well worth the two year wait. The story continues with that agonizing cliffhanger and it is a roller coaster ride filled with angst, joy, devastation, romance, humor, suspense, mystery, loss and love all woven together with faith and grace and forgiveness and family. Chana Keefer has also woven a fabulous background tapestry with vivid descriptions of the French countryside. And in the midst of it all are these wonderful characters, Esther and Sky, who are so well drawn and real, and I love it when it is so evident that the author is in love with these people, too. There are so many ups and downs and plot twists and turns and just plain evil working against them that kept me doubting but always hoping for that happily ever after right up to the very end. I honestly didn't know where the author was going to take Esther and Sky when I first began the story and there were lots of surprises along the way, which, to me, is the hallmark of good storytelling. Chana Keefer knows how to tell a story and tell it well. Faith is the victory! That is the message here. Is there a happily ever after for this Christian young woman and her Rock Star? Please read One Night With A Rock Star first. And then read One Night With A Rock Star part deux and find out for yourself.
SPOILER ALERT******* Again you need to get your mind out of the gutter. This is NOT a 50 Shades of Gray book. This is a Christian book that isn't about some handsome millionaire thats story is all about sex. While there is mention of sex, they are married and it isn't creepy or over elaborated. You really need to read the first book of this series to even understand this one. Character development with main characters is in the first book. Besides, it is great, you don't want to miss it. At first I didn't like this book as much as I LOVED the first one. Then it built up speed and I really started to like it. There was one thing that wasn't wrapped up enough for me, and that was the group of mafia type guys that Esther meets at the club in Paris. I had wondered what ever became of them and the fact they were so ticked with her, they just sort of dropped out of the story. I felt Esther's pain when Sky was in his accident, i loved the new character Anya and her wisdom. Grandma is still involved in this one, and that was another good part. I loved the bodyguard Lex and was sad he had to quit. The author has a way with words that I love. The ending was a little rushed for me, I would like to also know if Esther is fully recovered from her brain accident.

This book and the previous truly surprised me. It was so much more than a romance. It had such depth and the spiritual battles really resonated with me. We all struggle, some more and some less than others. While reading I felt like I stepped into Esther's life. Felt her struggles, her battles, her confusion in her faith...it increased my faith and I had so many moments where God spoke to my heart. I even realized some fears I had of my own and doubts or possibly lack of faith. It gave me a renewed perspective that the battles we fight aren't against flesh and blood but against principalities and powers present, and that many things are going on in the heavenlies we can't see. That if we are open to it, God wants to use us and help us to see others as He does, to love as He does. I highly recommend you read both books! I pray people write more books like this. Thank you Chana Keefer!
If you haven't read this book, you are missing out on indescribable beauty. Sky and Esther captured my heart in part one and forever hold my heart in part deux. Due to overwhelming emotions that I'm feeling after just finishing the book, I'm having a difficult time describing why I love it so much. It brings to mind something that motivational speaker, Les Brown, said, "your spiritual tribe will know your voice" and I feel like that is what I'm experiencing right now. I hear the love spoken in this book and "it is well with my soul!"
I loved this long awaited sequel. It answered all the questions hinted at in the first book and gave even more depth to the characters. There were some wonderful examples of sacrificial love, too. I hated getting to the last page and I'll definitely be watching to see what this author comes up with next.
If you have not read this, you are missing out. The sequel was well worth the two year wait. I love how the Esther and Sky story evolves through their journey as husband and wife.
I got this book because I couldn't put down the first book. I think I read it in 3 days. I really enjoy the characters. I thought I lost my love of reading & i couldn't wait to see what happened next & what God was going to bless them with.
What I so appreciate about this book is the blending of both worlds. One Night with a Rock Star was sweet and beautiful. Yet it doesn’t shy away from temptation, hard stuff, and the reality that Christians feeling desire too. Sex isn’t just a non-Christian thing, but is a gift from God, and that is shown clean and clearly in this book. I was refreshed by the real, interesting, story and, best of all, the new insight into God.
Author Chana Keefe has a great way with words, creating vivid imagery. I loved her descriptions of the charming villages of France, or the outfits Esther gets to wear. I really enjoyed seeing the joys and struggles main characters Esther and Sky go though after marriage. So often the books stops after the monumental struggle the characters go through to get to marriage, and then we assume happily ever after. This book fulfills that need for the reader without falling into the same struggles experienced in the first book. It was truly a fresh and unique story.
The faith aspect of the story was powerful. It wasn’t preached or shoved down your throat, but was used in a way that made sense and felt applicable to my own life. The author had some really unique perspectives on Biblical truths. I’m no expert, so I can’t say if she was right or wrong, but I was definitely left with a lot to ponder—in a good way.
There were a few kinks in the story. I felt like the author was pushing the symbol of barn/use of nostalgia a little much. I wasn’t really feeling it, but it didn’t hurt the story. There were a few plot points that were over the point and unrealistic, but again, I didn’t feel like the detracted, its was just. . .there, and a bit odd. I guess those moments lent to the story’s unpredictability. I can’t say there was really an overarching plot or theme, the story just happened, and a little randomly. I wish there was more cultivation of the minor characters; the ones from the last book. While they were present, they weren’t as fleshed out as Esther and Sky’s growth.
The book tackled real and hard issues in a way that was interesting and engaging and fun. I was left satisfied.
