Property of Mongrel: Kings of Anarchy: West Texas

Rate this book
Mongrel
My childhood was a good one, up until the night my parents were killed, leaving me and my four younger siblings at the mercy of our family. My paternal grandfather showed his true colors, and despite my grandma’s best efforts, the five of us were eventually sent to foster care, but not to the same home. After aging out, I found myself at loose ends, but eventually, I found the Kings of Anarchy and began prospecting for them.

Being a prospect wasn’t always easy, but I had found something that was lacking in my life since my parents died—a sense of family and peace. Finally getting patched in helped me realize one of my dreams; to be part of something once again instead of hanging on the outside looking in.

I longed for what my brothers had with their ol’ ladies, but the words my grandfather said years ago made me think that it wouldn’t be possible. So, I focus on helping in the various businesses, keeping an eye on Gretchen, who I’ve got a soft spot for, and being the best brother I know how to be.

Until I meet her. Then all bets are off. She doesn’t care about my mixed heritage, or the fact that I still haven’t found my siblings. She just wants me.

With the leader of the abduction ring still out there, danger continues to loom, at least for the women, and I vow that I’ll do whatever it takes to keep them safe.

Addison
I consider myself a well-rounded, independent woman, but there have been times when I wished for someone who could bear some of the overwhelming load I always carry. The day that Cameron walks into my office to start his physical therapy, I realize that he’s the missing piece I’ve been searching for.

His walls are thick, however, and it finally dawns on me that he doesn’t think he’s worthy of being loved. With that in mind, I vow that with my persistence he’s going to know that my feelings are true and legitimate. I just have no idea what it’s going to take to smash those bricks once and for all.

But patience and time are my friends, and once he’s no longer my patient, we begin dating. Finally finding someone who puts up with my idiosyncrasies was something I never thought would happen, but he does, and that goes a long way to healing my inner child’s heart.

Sometimes a Story Finds You Right Where You Live💜💜💜

Every once in a while, a book becomes a favorite for reasons that go far beyond the romance. This is that book for me.

My family was built in part through foster care and adoption, so Mongrel’s story touched me on a deeply personal level. His longing for family and belonging, and the wounds left by the people who should have loved and protected him, hit especially close to home.

One line in particular will stay with me: “Most love and cherish their babies, long after those kids have reached adulthood.” That sentiment has always been part of my own philosophy as a parent. Our children don’t stop being ours because they grow up, because life changes, or because they may no longer live under our roof. You just keep loving them.

That made watching Mongrel discover that he is worthy of giving and receiving that kind of love incredibly special. I loved Addison, I loved their story, and I loved everything this book had to say about the families they choose and build along the way.

I’ve loved a lot of stories in the KOAMC world, but this one reached me somewhere different.

Property of Mongrel will forever be my favorite.

Wow!!

What a feel good book. Mongrel and Addy did not have the greatest experiences when they were growing up. Mongrel's started out perfect but turned when his 13th birthday came. Addy didn't have a great life until her aunt came to her house and took her from her mother when she was 10. Mongrel didn't have love after his parents died and his four other siblings and him got seperated. Since he was turned out of the system at 18 he had been searching for his siblings. When he was given a chance the ranch and then with the Kings he never looked back. In saving Gretchen from the trafficking ring he is thrown off his bike and hurts his shoulder. When he has to go in for surgery and do rehab, he is not too happy until he meets his therapist, Addy. Addy and Mongrel instantly are attracted to each other but Addy won't date a patient. She told him that he would have to wait. They do enjoy getting to know one another through his therapy sessions.

This one had such a feel good vibe about it, despite all the awful things happening to the kids in it. I think it's because the awful things were blips and things ended on a happy note for the kids, past and present.

Mongrel and Addy were cute together and well suited. The took each other's quirks with a grain of salt, didn't make a big thing about it, just went with them. It was also fun to see Mongrel really get into helping Gretchen with her business too.

Nice to see how things ended for the couple, happy and surrounded by family.

Sometimes you just can’t sleep and sometimes you start a new book before bed and can’t stop reading! That was Mongrel’s book. I knew from previous introductions to Mongrel that I was going to love him…and I did.

Rough start to his life that led him to become an amazing man. Another great character from Darlene!

Family

Family are not always the people that you think they are. Some are great other's just don't care and the worst are the ones that just hate. This book covers different aspects of family and not so much MC, except the MC becomes found family to many. The new characters and old just fit so well together that it works but it was totally not what I expected.

West Texas Chapter continues to deliver!

The realism in this book will have you pondering some very real issues people face on a daily basis. I appreciated that Darlene used this in a way that propels the story and at the same time go out and lean a helping hand. This is what Texas is all about and I love that the state I live in is generous in charitable causes. Now, don't get me wrong, this book is filled with action, suspense and romance. Our author never falls to deliver these with abundance. Mongrel and Addy are a wonderful couple. I'm glad Mongrel finally gets what he is looking for this time around. I've given this on five stars and you guys are going to love it. This one is near and dear to my heart. Peace out.

Refreshing

I love this book! Mostly cause Mongrel is one of those characters you just love but also because I needed a slower pace book. There has been so much action going on, that it was nice to slow it down. My heart hurt for both Mongrel and Addy what with everything they went through growing up but I feel like it allowed them to be perfect for eachother! I cannot wait to see what happens through the rest of these books! I am hoping for such great things to come with the Kings!

Property of Mongrel by Darlene Tallman

This is Mongrel and Addy’s story. Mongrel and to have his rotator cuff repaired and Addy was his therapist. They were attracted to each other but Addy won’t date her patients. Mongrel was a foster kid who was separated from his siblings. Addy’s aunt took her from a neglectful home that was so bad it was infested with bugs. They found each other and even though they each have quirks they love each other and got their HEA.

VERY GOOD

Mongrel, parents were killed. Him and his brother, plus sisters are split up, the girls were very young. Mongrel aged out of foster care, he found his brother. Been trying to find his sisters. He wrecked his bike, needs therapy on his shoulder. Meets Addy. She has a lot of issues as a child. I highly recommend this.

That was really good but it feels a little unfinished because of what happened at her job. What the latest info on it, etc. It was sad about what happened with that little boy but he will get much better in the end. He needs 2 have his family all 2gether asap. He has his uncle and his bro but can he find the rest?

Darlene Tallman has hit a grand slam with this book! I fell in love with Addy and Mongrel as they fell in love with each other. I enjoyed the journey toward their happily ever after ending. Both have suffered trauma in the past. I loved this book and I can't wait for the next book in the series.

Been waiting for this

I love how the brothers lives intertwines. Both the men and women love each other. Enter Addy with her tragic history, but Mongrel know instantly she’s the one.

Mongrel & Addy

I love this MC family. Addy fit in seamlessly with this family. Both Mongrel and Addy’s childhoods really tugged at my heartstrings. It made me so happy to see them together. Their relationship developed so naturally. I see only good things for them.

terrific addition to series

The dealing with trauma and how it affects us was dealt with beautifully. The characters were so well developed and caring. The story is so well crafted and flows smooth like water.

A very very very slowwwwwww burn. I’m talking last chapter of a 26 chapter book. The authors writing style also rubs me wrong, too much of the minute info.
