A Bridge Through Time
Trapped in another era, Jane is forced to choose between her very life and the young man of the portrait, for she has fallen in love with the real version of Jestyn Greywick. Years ago, at the age of fourteen, Jane Fielder visited England, the birth country of her parents, with her mother. A that time a strange event took place, and one that Jane never forgot. On a tour of a great estate with her mother, Jane became entranced by the portrait of a young man. She noticed that he had a pendant with the gold chain wrapped around his hand. Impulsively, Jane touched the young man's hand and it felt warm. Now, years later, and devastated by the death of her parents, Jane returns to England as a foreign correspondent. She hopes the change of scene will make the loss of her parents easier to bear, for her health has lately taken a hit. Jane is as anxious to start her new job as she is to see the portrait again, for she wants to find out if she just imagined that the young man's hand felt warm to her touch. Then when Jane touches the young man's hand on the portrait again, she is blasted back in time to 1803.

Bound by a Portrait
Jane first laid eyes on Jestyn in a portrait, holding a pendant when she went on a tea tour of Greywick Hall with her mother, when she was just fourteen years old. Fascinated by Jestyn’s picture and the pendant he held, she touched the pendant then his hand and it felt warm, which she found odd being as it was a portrait. She ran her hands across other parts of the portrait and found it cool to the touch, then touched his hand holding the pendant and it was warm.
Ten years later, Jane revisits that same estate with her friend Cybil but this time when she touches the picture, something magical happens and she is transported through the picture back into time.
This was a very fascinating read. I really enjoyed the magic and the story of how two people from two different times, meet and fall in love.

Ehh, this was just okay. This was just an okay time-travel romance. The romance just moved to fast for me. There was just not much development in the romance department. They both kept whining about being separated but never did anything to try to make it better.

Jane saw him at the age of fourteen when her mother took them for a tour of his estate which was now a national monument. Fascinated with him and the pendant he held, she touched the pendant then his hand and felt warmth, a connection. It wasn't until after the break up with her fiance and the death of her parents, that she was able to revisit the estate ten years after her first visit to reconnect with Jestyn the portrait which upon touching the pendant, hurled her back in time to meet and love the flesh and blood Jestyn! Unfortunately she didn't fit in, not that she was given a chance, she was up against a jealous witch! Of course love for the ages can't be denied!!!

This started off ok but then got so boring I couldn't even care how it finished and stopped reading it. Characters were boring and it just all down hill for me.

I wrote better in high school.
The writing was sloppy and very disconnected. Jestyn (according to Google, this is actually more of an Australian name) and Jane just *immediately* fell in love and after less than a week together were saying "I'll miss you so much when I'm gone!" Just ridiculous.

"A Bridge Through Time" blends history, magic and time travel into a love story that begins when Jane Fielder, shattered by the loss of her parents and the betrayal of her fiancée takes a new job as a journalist in London England. Remembering the tea tour she took with her mother to Greywick Hall and the portrait that captured her heart at age fourteen Jane revisits the estate with her friend Cybil only to be whisked away to 18th century Lydford.
Trying to make sense of what happened and where she is Jane is almost run down by a curricle on the road to Greywick by the young man she longed for as a teen. The story weaves together the mystery of a pendant, dangerous superstition and the vengeful hatred of a noblewoman after Jane touches Jestyn Greywick's hand in his portrait and is swept away in a blinding flash of light.
Set in an England at the beginning of the Napoleonic war Gloria Gay meshes the customs , decorum and superstitions of 1803 into a romance where a modern-day woman finds herself lost in the past. The plot heats up when Lady Millthorpe a noblewoman once spurned by the handsome Jestyn Greywick seeks revenge against Jane by inflaming the superstition of the lower class. As the danger escalates, the author builds tension , suspense and mystery as Jane and Jestyn search for clues to a doorway back to the future that can be unlocked by a strange pennant with Druidic ties.
Although I didn't feel any sparks between Jestyn and Jane even in their stolen moments together the pain of heartbreak in their inevitable parting is very tangible. Gloria Gay does a good job in giving a sense of reality to a romance in the reserve of an era that dictated arranged marriages and an absence of love between those of the landed gentry and anyone from the lower classes or from the colonies.
Of the characters who infuse the story with romance, heartbreak and drama, Jane Fielder is a young woman suffering from the loss of her parents and the deceit of a fiancée who finds love and loyalty in 1803. A spirited and independent journalist she faces the strictures of society and fear of superstition in an era that that has her longing for modern-day, although it will bring heartache. Jestyn Greywick devastated by the deceit of his fiancée on his wedding day vows never to marry. An estate owner and one of the landed gentry who's kind, sensitive and loving Jestyn has an ingrained sense of respect for propriety. Although a man of his time he sees value in new ideas and technology, wishing that he could venture into the future. Lady Millthorpe is the antagonist, a woman who married into wealth. She's a conniving gossip who's jealous of Jane and hates any happiness Jestyn might find.

A Bridge Through Time, by Gloria Gay, is my one hundred thirty-sixth book that I have received and read from Goodreads. I found this book to be really interesting to read. Jane Fielder is shattered by the loss of her parents, and takes a new job as a Journalist in London, England from the United States. She and a friend go on a tea tour that Jane's mother took her on when she was 14years old, to Greywick Hall. On the tour with her mother Jane stops and sees a portrait that captures her heart. Jane and her friend Cybil visit the same estate, Jane sees the same portrait, it's the portrait of Jestyn Greywicks. Jane touches Jestyns hand and is wisked away to the 18th century.
Jane is trying to make sense of what happened, she sees a curricle coming down the road, Jane runs into the front of the carriage with a flashlight. Jane is knocked to the ground and just misses getting run over. Jane is unable to stand up, her leg might be broken. The driver of the carriage checks to see if the horses and his brother are alright. The driver than checks to see what caused the accident and when Jane looks up to see who is talking to her, she sees Jestyn in the flesh. Jane passes out from the pain.
As the story progresses Jane is falling in love with Jestyn, but unfortunately Jane does not fit in, not that she was given much of a chance. Jane finds herself up against Lady Millthorpe, a married lady that still loves Jestyn Greywick..
I found the story to be a fast and fun read. You will have to read the book to find all the trouble Jane has trying to fit in. If you like time travel along with romance, this book is for you. I would like to thank the author for taking the time to sign my book, and for the book markers. I feel this book could be read from High School thru Adults.

Darling, my love
The story started out well and grabbed my interest but it went downhill after that. The characters were annoying after a while with all of their "darling" and "love" after every sentence and it seemed like random items were just thrown in at the last minute to try and connect the story line. The plot itself was a good storyline as I love time travel romance and I think this could have been a much better book if the characters and plot has been fleshed out a little more. It seemed like the author was in a rush to finish it and turned it in to their publisher before it was finished. There were also several grammatical errors. All in all an ok book but I will not be purchasing anything else from this author.

wow what a book just got done reading the book called A BRIDGE THROUGH TIME by the author GLORIA GAY I won this book from GOODREADS FRIST READ this book was so good that I fell in love with the characters. this book is about time travel and romance I would have to give this a 5 star rating I just have to say wow what a great book I would recommend this book to everyone I know. thanks to GOODREADS FRIST READ and to the author GLORIA GAY for this book. can't wait to read more from this author.

Short and quick read
This story had some elements of time travel that I've always thought time travel stories should include. Beyond the difference in speech and dress, the smells and ways of thinking would be different. I enjoyed this book, but I did find that the book repeated itself often. Also, some of the dialogue could've been a bit better. Overall it was a quick and light read.

A great quick read, and I think the character of Jestyn Greywick sounded quite dreamy! I was far more intrigued by him than I was with Jane. But an overall good time travel romance with a nice ending. I had plenty of questions, but was overall happy with it.

An interesting time travel book. A good story interesting characters. I enjoyed the book and would read other books by the author. I won this as a goodreads winner.

A Bridge Through Time was an enjoyable story yet it had it's problems. The author repeated information over and over to the point where you found yourself skimming or skipping over passages to simply get on with the tale. Also, there were many grammatical errors causing you to have to stop and re-read what you just read to make sense of it. The story of two star-crossed lovers separated by time has merit and was, standing alone, a great concept if it weren't for the things already mentioned. Finally, the ending was also disappointing as it was rather trite and felt canned. It was the expected rather than something more creative and attention grabbing and was a let down leaving you disappointed rather than satisfied.

I love time travel but I did not love this--it is a did not finish. I made it about 1/3rd of the way through. I was so turned off by the chapters of dialog that went on and on about all the things in her purse. Good grief. I tried scanning further but I just couldn't muster the interest. I do not like the writing style.

Interesting story
The first half of this story is great. The second half seemed to go really slowly for me. Also, in the second half, things were very inconsistent. For example, they talk about how its amost dawn, then 2 sentences later its not yet midnight. Very confusing. It had a satisfying HEA and I loved the epilogue.

Good Storyline
The storyline is good but I found myself quickly reading over some passages to get to the good parts. Some of the characters were not fully fleshed out enough to explain the reasons for their actions. Their motives weren't clear enough to explain their actions.

Great premise for a book, but the timeline "stuttered" in the beginning and the dialog was very "stilted". I mean, how many times does a person need to say a person's name in conversation? It did, however, level out towards the end though.

The story was decent. I would rate the plot 3 stars. Unfortunately, I couldn't look past the grammatical errors, or even the misspelling of a lead character's name-page 70, last paragraph. Seems that this book was published too soon and should have gone through more reviews with an editor. Also, the redundancy in which details are repeated over and over really wore on me. For this reason, I really couldn't immerse myself in the plot. I'm not sure if this is one of the author's first works, but it screams amateur, or fan fiction.
