Eve Cates is a twenty-something author of contemporary romance. She loves all things naughty, demanding men and difficult situations (pass the popcorn please). Her first series, StepSister Devotion, will be told in four parts, releasing via Kindle Unlimited.

Eve has loved writing ever since she picked up her first crayon and penned a note to her imaginary friend 'Pok'. Accused of being a 'dreamer' as she grew, she's taken that notion and turned her daydreams into stories to delight and satisfy her readers.

When she isn't writing, you'll find her at home with her husband, four children, and two dogs.

Emma and Father Braden are being pulled together in ways which go against everything they've ever known to be right. For Emma, being married to a monster is one thing but breaking her wedding vows is something completely different. For Father Braden, breaking his vow to God and his church causes an inner turmoil he cannot conquer. Even though what they are doing is wrong to an outsider looking in, it is right in so many ways. Emma is experiencing true love for the first time and Father Braden is determined God has led him to Emma to save her. As Emma tries to keep her family in the dark about Gabe a family dinner, with a big announcement, proves to be Gabe and Emma's undoing. Once home, Gabe's fury is unleashed and Emma sends a desperate text. Will Father Braden reach Emma in time?

Book 2 is a absorbing as the first book. We find Emma and Braden's falling harder and faster for each other. The author does a great job of pulling the reading into the story and making the reader "feel" the emotions. You feel the helplessness of Emma's situation, the anguish of Father Braden and his inner turmoil between God and Emma, and root for them to be together. But hold on to your sit for the ending. The situation turns dire and you find yourself torn between rooting for Emma and telling her to shut up! The book is a very quick read, but there is alot that happens. The book does end on a bit of a cliffhanger. Make sure you have Book 3 handy.

Part 2 of The Consequence of Secrets picks up where part 1 stopped. Continuing in dual points of views from both Braden and Emma, we are taken deeper inside Emma's world allowing us to see what she has been dealing with since her marriage began. Knowing this makes us more aware of her need for escape, and the reason why she finds such comfort with Father Braden.

I enjoyed the second installment of this series. There were some twist and surprises surrounding our main characters. My hatred for Gabe, Emma's husband, grew to astronomical proportions when the vile and cruel life he has subjected her to was revealed. Emma's response was earth-shattering. But, Father Braden gave me hope that some moment of salvation could be found for her. There were intense moments of pain, pleasure, regret, and fear, that culminated into an "ending" that my heart stop. Part 3 cannot come quickly enough.

Wow Gabe is much more calculating than I thought at first o.0
Jules, Emma´s sister is pregnant, and the ribbons are tightening on Emma´s hands. How will Gabe react to the news of a sister giving the family something, Emma hasn´t.

I didn´t know it was possible, but I fell even more in love with Braden. He is just so sweet, and very supportive, and I love how they grow together while they are working out a way to keep everyone safe.
He make me melts. He´s just so HOT!!!!

This episode was so exciting, and really nerve wracking.
My body is shaking to get to know what next will happen!
I NEED THE NEXT EPISODE ALREADY!

Now Emma and Branden have taken their attraction to another level. They realize that the attraction they feel is something they can't fight.

Emma wants to believe that Branden can help her and that she can leave her abusive husband. She knows he will hurt those she loves if she should leave him. As she recovers from a brutal beating she begins to hope that maybe Branden can help her.

Branden believes that his mission is to help Emma. He knows that he has broken his vows but he does not regret it as he feels God put her in his path so that he could help her.

Part two ends with a cliffie that makes me eagerly anticipate the next installment.

So book 2 we find that Emma accepts that she is trapped in a secret world of lies and deception (despite portrayed as a devout catholic) and of course they do the deed after declaring their instant love for each other.

Yes, vows are broken and Braden decides that he cant serve God when Emma is the only person he can think about. He confirms that he wont leave the Church until she is free from her marriage and safe from any further beatings from he husband (thought divorce wasn't an option in a catholic marriage).

Call me a cynic but you know where this story is going even before you get to part 4.

* * ARC given on behalf of obsessed by books for an honest review * *

we start right where left off in book 1.
Emma and Braden have grown closer. Emma's secret is out to Braden and his trying get her to trust him enough to save her, but is he even trusting his self, cause his feelings are changing. Can Emma ever get rid of Gabe, can she ever be free. omg I'm so loving this series. off to read book 3 and mind you I'm reading them back to back I can't put them down.

Oh buddy things just got serious! Where to even start. Talk about steamy is the first thing. Eve Cates really knows how to get things going. Another thing she is superb at...keeping you wanting more! Ahh what is going to happen next. I couldn't even guess if I wanted to. Things can only get crazier from here! Wonderfully written part two that does exactly what it is intended to do. Pull you into the love Emma and Braden have and making you want more more more! I look forward to part 3!

I knew I should have waited until the whole thing came out before reading it. So suspenseful. I read it as fast as I can because I have to know what happens. The Cliffhangers are tortuous.
