Gone without a trace ...

Lexi Yates knows she hasn’t harmed her three-year old daughter, yet the Louisiana town of Gator Bayou seems to think she’s guilty. With her daughter missing, the evidence stacking up against her and her faith in God tested to the limit, Lexi must find a way to convince FBI agent Ace Valdez she’s innocent before she becomes the next target.

Ace Valdez doesn’t trust easily, and he certainly knows better than to fall for a case, yet there’s something about the widowed mother that makes him want to believe she’s innocent, but evidence doesn’t lie. Or does it?

Tamelia Tumlin sold her first story to Dogwood Tales Magazine many years ago while taking a creative writing course in college. The short story titled "The Traveler" was the feature story for that edition. After graduating college in elementary education, life, a teaching career and a wonderful son consumed most of her time. However, in the past couple of years, the yearning to pen fabulous romantic tales of to-die-for heroes and spirited heroines has taken over.
Ms. Tumlin has worked with several online publishers, but she is now writing for Steel Magnolia Press. Juggling motherhood, teaching and writing is a challenge, but one she welcomes to pursue her passion. Her novels range from sweet and sassy to dark and dangerous.

Deadly Image by Tamelia Tumlin was a most enjoyable book that kept me sitting on the edge of my seat wondering what was going to happen next. Lexi Yates lost her husband, a much loved minister in Dallas, a year ago and because of all the memories she moved with her three year old daughter, Anna, to Gator Bayou, Louisiana. Anna has disappeared without a trace and everyone in the town seems to think that Lexi is responsible. FBI agent Ace Valdez has been sent from his New Orleans office to take charge of the investigation. Due to evidence that points to Lexi as the guilty party, the local sheriff is ready to arrest Lexi for kidnapping and because of this her faith in God is sorely tested. Ace has seen all the evidence yet he has a gut feeling that Lexi is innocent. Because of things in his past, Ace does not trust easily and he does not want to have any feelings for Lexi but there is something about her that causes him to believe she is innocent.
The author did a very good job of developing the plot, characters, dialogue, and action scenes. In most mysteries I can usually figure out who did the crime but the author had me guessing to the very end, in fact I was completely surprised when the identity of the kidnapper was revealed. There were many twists and turns in the story providing one surprise after another. I could not put the book down once I started reading for I just had to know what happened next. I do not want to say more for I do not want to give away the ending of the story.
I would recommend this book to anyone who loves a good mystery with a lot of romance thrown into the mixture and who also wants to read Christian fiction.
My thanks to the author, Tamelia Tumlin, for providing this book free in exchange for an honest review. The opinions I have expressed are my own.

I received a copy of this book from the author in return for an honest review.

This is the second book I have read by this author. I loved it!

Lexi Yates is a fantastic character. She is a mother on the edge. Her daughter has gone missing, but nobody believes her. I'm not a mother myself, but I could empathise with her. She is a lot stronger than she thinks she is. Her only hope is FBI agent Ace Valdez.

Ace Valdez is a tough agent and a fantastic character. He is a typical alpha male - strong, loving and protective. I love these types of characters; they make me weak at the knees!

This is a fantastic romance novella, with lots of mystery and suspense that kept me hooked from the first page! I loved the intrigue surrounding the disappearance of Lexi's daughter, Anna. I struggled to put the book down long enough to sleep!
This book does have a slightly religious inflection, but it is not preachy; it is mostly confined to the occasional prayer. I loved how the story flowed, and the way these two characters interacted with each other. The reveal of the kidnapper was a surprise! I would never have guessed in a month of Sunday's who it was! However, in retrospect, it could have only been that person!

Tamelia Tumlin has written a completely different book to the one I had read previously (which was paranormal and rather racy!). This book is more of an emotional romance than a physical one. This contrast shows her talent as a writer. Her ability to write romances of such diversity makes her a fantastic author to follow.

I highly recommend this book if you love romance novels. - Lynn Worton

Just wanted to say this first, I love Tamelia’s faith-based books, but don’t care for the others.
Saying that I want to say her faith-based books are the best.
From the very first line to the ending line of Deadly Image I was very spell bound and intrigued. This is just a super, fantastic book. I could have read it in one day, but started late so had to put it down to sleep, but couldn’t wait to finish it.
Deadly Image is a kindle book, but I got it on Adobe Digital Edition on my computer. I ONLY complaint I have with this book is the print on my computer was smaller than I like, but I’m sure the Kindle version would be much better.
I like how Lexi and Ace get along. At first it was blaming each other for the loss of Lexi’s little girl. Lexi was blamed for kidnapping her own daughter and Lexi blamed Ace the FBI investigator for not doing more to help find her.
I was quite captivated and intrigued with each turn of events and couldn’t believe how it all came to an end. I really, really love Deadly Image for the fast-paced, suspense and romantic story plot. A book that gets a five-star and wishing I could give it more. Tamelia Tumlin is a first time author for me and will enjoy reading more of her inspirational intrigue books. Highly recommend!!!!

Deadly Image is a well told story. I figured out part of the answer to the mystery early in the story. Still was enjoyable to see how it all turned out.
Lexi Yates has had her 3 yr. old daughter taken. The cops all believe that Lexi must have done something to her daughter. Lexi is a widow her husband a preacher was killed in a car wreck. Lexi has panic attacks and is on medicines for them.
The Sheriff is only looking at her. The daycare said that Lexi picked up her daughter earlier in the day.
Lexi took the day off to finsh her daughters room so she has no one that can vouch for her whereabouts.
FBI agent Ace Valdez is open to look at everything. He asks Lexi lots of questions trying to trip her up and so far she is sticking to the truth. Ace wants Lexi to be innocent. More and More it looks like Lexi is lying about picking up her daughter.
Lexi has only moved to this small town months ago. Her parents have come to help find Anna and help Lexi. They almost lost Lexi when her husband died.
The only thing about the story is falling for someone while your 3 year old has disappeared.
I won this ebook from Librarything and asked to give an honest review after I had read it.

The cover for Deadly Image suggests more action than was actually present in the book. It also looked to me as if the male was going to be more of the alpha/bad boy turned good boy type and the heroine more spirited (probably not the best word). It is an attractive cover, and though I don’t usually judge a book by the cover, it did have the sense of mystery that I enjoy.

Although subtle hints were given of the identity surrounding the kidnapper leading me to make the correct guess, the plot was so well written that even I was shocked or intrigued at several points in the story.

The story is an inspirational intrigue and I felt that the author did a good job of including religion. There was one part where it seemed like too many words or a longer than needed explanation was used. Other than that, I liked the aspect of faith being used with the mystery and romance.

The romance was not as apparent as the mystery. The reader can feel the feelings Ace and Lexi feel for each other but there was not too much development. The epilogue however was really sweet! I loved the “reminders” Lexi left for Ace!
Enjoyed reading it.

The story opening was good. The plot steadily began unfolding and building.
This novel was quite well-written. It was about a young widow starting a new
life in a small town. This was the first time she had been away from family and
all that was familiar to her. Just her and her young daughter making a new life
for themselves until now. Now her young daughter was taken from her pre-school
and the police and FBI were accusing her! While they should be finding the kid-napper
they were interrogating her! She was their main suspect.
Questions arose, nobody seemed to believe her except for her parents who came
shorty after she called them
She suffered from an anxiety disorder. Could she have done something with her child
and not remembered? She hadn't been taking her medication for a couple of days.
The suspense picks up and builds as more events take place. It peaks at an apex then
ends abruptly. The ending left this reader feeling slightly let down. It felt too precipitous.
I still felt it deserving of a strong four star rating. The epilogue later helped give it a finality.

Lexi Yates would never hurt her own daughter! Yet the people of Gator Bayou in Louisiana believe she did. Ace Valdez, an FBI agent, is her last hope. Determined to convince him of her innocence, she embarks on a journey with a man that doesn’t trust easily any more than he lets himself fall in love easily. Somehow, someway, Lexi needs to find her daughter…at the same time she needs to discover the way back to her own heart as she tries to melt the ice around Ace’s.

Riveting suspense and a romance that keeps the reader turning pages until the very end…a very fine novel by Tamelia Tumlin.

When young Anna goes missing, her widowed mother, Lexi, is under suspicion. She is interviewed by FBI agent Ace Valdez. Lexi fights to prove her innocence as well as her attraction for Agent Valdez. This was a quick, light read. I enjoyed the elements of suspense in this story. (A free copy of this ebook was given to me through the LibraryThing Member Giveaway.)

Another Kindle freebie I downloaded a week or so ago. I download a lot of them these days for quick bouts of reading. ;D

This was a little predictable in some parts, but it didn't hinder my enjoyment at all. liked the twist about the whole mastermind, even though I kind of knew what was going to happen. A nice, short read.Romance was good too.

Good book , although I felt the references to believing in Jesus kind of took away from the absolutely wonderful mystery and intrigue. Would recommend though, it was a good book. I ws given this to read and review through library thing.

This was a short pleasure. The crime story was quite good. Lexi is well-described with her panic attacks - but Ace is a strange character - something just doesn't fit. And the love story is the most strange thing: you just can't believe it: too fast in a situation like that.

Easy read suspense

Walk with Lexi through the agony of trying to find her missing child. Her ragged faith doesn't give her enough strength to endure the pain. An easy read for a rainy day. Clean, Christian suspenseful romance.
