It is sad to see the last of these characters, but this was an intriguing series. I couldn't stop reading it despite the grammatical issues. This author should definitely invest in Grammarly or a good proof reader!

This was supposed to be the final novel in this series, so I learned from reading the reviews at the time of this novel's release. Yes, I could leave it there as the author has set it as such, nice comfortable ending where the reader can heave a sigh of release that all their struggling, scheming, and fighting for survival has paid off, especially against the Islamic threat of takeover.

But readers were not content with this novel being the last in the series. So Shaw went back to the drawing board 3 years later and penned a Book 5.

The Malefic Nation is a worthy ending to this series. It is the tensest, action-packed, and suspenseful of all of them. The Preppers battle the odds on many fronts, especially with the plan to be rid of the Islamic threat which results in more loss. Also, a treasured character from the previous novels is lost and this is rather devastating. Rocks the foundation of the group. I found this to be very disturbing and cried out, "Shaw, how could you?".

I would consider this novel to be the best out of the four. Book 5 seems to be a bit different, tying up some loose ends that are fine with me to be left undone but she also adds some backstory to some events that are ok as they are.

I am really glad I read this series. I will read her other two series. This is one great author.

Highly Recommended.

Tears as I read

Not only this book but the entire series left me with tears streaming down my cheeks and with dark circles under my eyes. The fast paced action left me incapable of putting the books down. My heart broke with their losses, challenges and life shattering decisions.

This book needed an editor, someone who actually read the text and fixed spelling errors and places where the wrong word was used.
A garage for airplanes is a hangar, not a hanger.
A water defense around a castle is a moat, not a mote.
A person has a conscience, not a conscious.
Dinghy has an 'h' in it. Dingy means something totally different.

The major plot twist from book 3 continues. The development of the characters continues. The scenario that takes up the middle of the book is a bit hokey and the ending's somewhat cheesy, but this book is still worth reading.

Good series

It's has been awhile since I've read one of these apocalypse series as so many are not worth reading. I was pleasantly surprised with this one. The characters are believable and interesting though their instantaneous falling in love was a bit much . I was sorry the story ended so quickly. I look forward to reading more from this author . I'd have probably given it a 5 star if it weren't for the poor editing.

Satisfying ending

I have read this entire series in one week. It is an engrossing story and quite nicely structured. I wish some had lived that died and that some had died that lived. If the author ever decides to write a follow-up story, I can think of worse ideas than starting in Hope, British Columbia. There were editting issues here and there, not enough to really be annoying.

Great post apocalyptic read

Great action sequences, fantastic and loveable chracters, a world that akes you shiver with every page, this pageturner was an awesome find for me. After a pandamanic flue hits the US Graham finds himself taking care of a little boy and two girls. The story evolves in four books and was one of the best reads this past year. Looking forward to read more of this author

Hard to put down...

I've read all four books and believe this could really take place on and in our world. The characters were believable and the events realistic.

What I found annoying was the lack of good editing. It almost seemed like they forgot to hit delete when the grammar-check showed a disconnected sentence. But hey...it was a good read.

Must Read!

I just finished the entire series (4 books in 4 days) and I strongly recommend this series. You will cry and laugh and hold your breath waiting for the next thing to happen! Truly an outstanding series and one that will make you feel like you are part of the story. Amazing and utterly entertaining. Enjoy! I certainly did!

Wonderful series

I seldom get hooked on a series after the first book. This series had me wanting more before finishing the first book. Very good stories. Very believable story line and characters. Love stories that have you involved and stopping to think of the fact that this could really happen. Still a scary thought! Pray we never live through something of this magnitude!

Couldn't put it down

Although I would consider these books "quick reads" that is in no way a bad thing. I could not put these books down, and was hungry for more after each book in the series. I'm sorry to say goodbye to such lovable characters. I would recommend this series to anyone interested in a good adventure.

Great conclusion to a crazy series. Shaw doesn't dwell on much, lots happens, but the book moves quickly - survival is key, so move on or die, ya know. Makes it easy on an emotional reader! Shaw got a couple of tears in my eyes but moved on so fast I got over it. lol
Realistic apocalypse book, I will miss Graham and his family.

I have to say I'm glad each book has gone in a slightly different direction ~ individuals came together; the two groups co-existed; then they joined forces; now they've won. Or have they? I found a fifth book in the series, sort of, I guess . . . .I'll let you know more after I've read that one! But it could end here, if it had to! I'm hopeful for them all . . . . .

The final book in the original series is as riveting as the rest. Although there is one more after this book, this one really concludes the story.

The final solution may be highly controversial among the survivors but in the end it could be the only hope for humanity

Fast paced, well written, impossible to put down.

Great Read

Too many apocalypse books become too morose. This series has hope and joy along with despair and grusome death. It is the end of running away from the jihadists and the story of regaining freedom.

You will like this series

The world population is decimated. A few survivors band together to form a loose knit society. But the threat is not gone. Shaw's Story will pull you in. Be sure to read all four books. You won't regret it.

Great series.

Book four was bitter sweet. Great ending with a cast of characters you got know and really felt for them. Sorry for this series ending. Once you start book four you will have a hard time putting it down. Read entire book in two setting. A.R. Shaw job well done.

Excellent series of books.

Each book was well written. The characters were amazing but could still be your next door neighbor. They were heroic but yet ordinary people who had a will to survive and loved their country beyond measure. I definitely recommend this series.

This one was a fast read. I preferred that they were working together in this book. It was interesting what they found in Canada. I love the references to Diablo Dam as I have been in that area before.

Good ending

Again only 4 stars I feel like some parts have a lot of emotion and depth, but we reach the end of the book and it just ends so quickly. I guess I was just expecting more of a struggle.

Compelling Series

It is easy to get caught up in the storyline. The editing could be better and the character development sometimes seems to need improvement but all in all an interesting tale that begs to read the next in series.

This series is a winner! The characters are well-developed, and he story is tightly plotted. A real page-turner! That said, I wish the editing had been better. Errors in editing disrupt the flow of the story. But - I keep reading, and I have ordered the fifth book in the series.

A. R. Shaw executed a brilliant solution to rid America of the invaders. I shall not mention it lest I publish a spoiler. It is a great novel and very entertaining.

Yet another good read

The story carried on seamlessly, and we followed the group through many highs and lows, until they went full circle and returned "home". I'm loving the simplicity, and just how easy it is to read these books. More of the same please.

I truly enjoyed the whole series. I cried over the last few pages, knowing I was saying goodbye to the wonderful characters. Thank you for sharing their all too plausible story with us.
