I finished this book in a day- so it’s a testament to how good it was :). I wasn’t surprised because, let’s face it, Harlequin has yet to publish a bad book. If you’re looking for something light and entertaining then this is what you should be reading. I live in Florida so this was a perfect beach read.
I loved the chemistry between Amber and Steve from the start! They’re both so head-strong and stubborn yet they can’t seem to fight their attraction. I’m a sucker for a heroine with a backbone, so I loved that Amber never backed down from Steve. They come from very different worlds; hers with loving parents who let her be carefree (they’re middle-class) and his life was planned from his C-section at birth (he’s mega rich).
Amber’s father business is failing and Steve is the “hot-shot” lawyer who comes to shut them down. Steve’s beloved grandmother is dying and he wants to fulfill her dying wish: marry and produce an heir. Steve thinks of Amber’s financial situation and figures she is the perfect woman for the job. He proposes his plan to her-though leaving out a few details (men!)- and she accepts.
Of course, you’re going have to actually buy the book to figure out the rest but you won’t be disappointed!
Although I really enjoyed how far Amber was willing to go, to save her family's carnival, I had a major disconnect from Steve. He blew too hot and cold for me. In addition, I didn't care for the way he spoke to Amber or the way he stomped all over her feelings. Amber was doing him a major favor, not the other way around!
This was a very good read for a short story it hard a lot of good character development and a fresh storyline. Love a strong hero but also a heroine with a strong personality and this had both. I highly recommend this book
this was pretty cute, but it wasnt anything special. i dont really have any real opinions on this, negative or positive. it was really just fine. i mean, i enjoyed the accelerated plot towards the end, and i think it was super dramatic, but aside from that, i dont really know what else to say about it. this style fo book isnt really for me, you know, harlequin novels that are all fade to black style smut and are written in third person, it makes it really tough to connect to the characters. if you enjoy this sort of book or this style of writing, check it out, you will probably like it to be honest.
About the Book: Amber Lawrence is an ordinary woman - she works hard, spends time with her family - and doesn't expect to be offered cash in exchange for marriage! Trouble is, Steve Rockwell's proposal has come at a time when Amber's family needs money for their business to survive. Amber would never normally even consider such a proposal - but when she can help her family and get married to a man as gorgeous as Steve even the most cool-headed of women would be really, really tempted! Wouldn't she?
What a stupid ending............I wanted to know about the baby when it was born. Maybe the story might overlap into another book but I might never find and read that book. :(
Steve and Amber were totally engrossing and opposite entities that sparked each other's interests due to their love for the one person in their lives that meant the most to them. That commonality is what drew them in and tied that bond. Wonderful storyline and great read.
