1597

The year is 1597, and a group of weary travelers has arrived to start new lives in America. They set out to build a town, but they soon start to notice signs that this particular land might have been occupied before. Strange markings on the trees seem to serve as a warning, and attempts to dig a well soon unearth disturbing remains, yet the colonists are determined to keep going.

For Elizabeth Hardforth and her father, the journey to America is supposed to help them leave their troubles in the past. But when a young girl makes a series of startling claims, Elizabeth is forced to question whether they might have been followed across the ocean by a vengeful ghost. Her father warned her to leave all reminders of their old life behind, but in a moment of weakness she disobeyed him. Has that choice doomed them both?

Soon the colony is hit by a powerful storm, just as the supplies start to rot. Terrified that they are cursed, the colonists search for some way to turn their fortunes around. Elizabeth, however, is about to discover that some ghosts simply cannot be outrun. Can she undo her actions before it's too late? Or will the entire colony pay for her mistake?

1597 is the first book in the Haunting of Crayne House series, about the ghostly forces that torment successive generations in one American home.

Awesome

This group has sailed across the ocean to Kentucky to leave England before the Spanish attack. Trouble is there is already history at the new location, and one person has brought along a ghost .
