The World Bleeds
Blake, ever the entertainer is feeling restless while healing. In this new post apocalyptic world, he can no longer blog, but he can use the radio. Can he convey his thoughts and ideas to help others without having pictures and diagrams on how to do things? He hopes to find out.Supplies are running low for Michael, John and the Kids. It's been some time now since the bombs fell, taking out the power grid in America. Do they risk leaving the safety of their secluding hiding spot in the middle of the Talladega National Forest or slowly starve?Survivors are being rounded up and placed in FEMA camps by NATO forces. Supplies are running low for even the NATO troops holding the American's prisoners and pressure is building within the nation. Something has to give.This is the 5th installment of The World Burns series and is approximately 30,000 words.

So so book
1st book was the best. Each following tale got further to the right politically. I can see the author storming the Capitol. It fails on several layers. 1st k it's premise that a e m t would shut Dow every thing electrical. If it did you couldn't use any batteries. In fact in a emt attack it would only hit those devices that were operating. 2nd he assumes that the populace would rise up with hardly any opposition. I don't feel the same, we elected Trump didn't 't we. Why are these peppers so far to the right? And it seems tHat it only takes place in conservative states.Calif,Oregon. Washington don't love our County?

Great read
Boyd did it again. How he packs so much interesting things in such a small book is beyond me. His Characters are flawless but at times short lived. The effort he puts into making them either likable or unlikable is amazing. It only hurts when someone you like gets written out.

Lots of new characters, more locations and plenty of action in this one as the good forces come together to fight NATO and get the prisoners out of the FEMA camp.
Tragedy and mayhem along the way, but between the different good guy factions, coupled with Blake and his homestead crew, it makes for an interesting ride.

I enjoyed this series until I hit #5 and it became impossible to keep track of all the characters and who was who. I almost gave up even trying to finish this one. I rated the previous 4 books in the series with at least a 4* rating. Two many characters really kills it for me.

This book was not quite as good as first four, but okay. It had too much family interaction and storyline. It was confusing jumping from one story and location back and forth.

Things really heated up in this episode of the story. A real resistance has begun in the country. People are banding together to help each other out.

A happy ending!
Even in the Apocalypse there is joy. I felt so for Michael, but am glad he’s ok. I hope King is too. On to the next installment!

Some storylines are wrapped up while new characters and subplots are introduced. It all makes me want to open the next chapter to see what's coming next.

Completely believable!

This book follows John and Michael, introduce a couple of interesting new characters and links up again with the survivors at the homestead.
It is decision time for John and Michael as their food becomes scarce. Can they risk trying to get to the supplies that they stored before their run in with the police? It seems like the best plan and then they can finally escape the area. However they are about to face a new menace when they see Russian tanks on the streets around their target. Is there any way to sneak around them to get what they need or is it a risk too far? John has a plan but it carries high risks for all of them and leads to him being seperated from the three kids..
The National Guardsmen are also becoming concerned at being told what to do by foreign troops under the NATO banner and seeing American civilians being rounded up and forced into FEMA camps. Some soldiers like Henrikas, a Lithuanian decide to disobey orders and try to help civilians flee the troops, making them wanted men. These soldiers are also trying to find a way to release all the prisoners and overthrow NATO. Henrikas is a great character and I liked him from the start when his path crosses with John. They are both soldiers of course and agree that the local FEMA camp should be their target. Rebel Radio is going to be vital in pooling their resources and getting a plan together.
Michael is about to endure hell inside the camp which feels like a prison, where you are robbed of anything you own and are in constant danger. He meets King, a tough guy who gives him some advice but won't fight his battles for him. King is a great character. He reminds me of the lifer in prison movies who helps the new guy understand the rules. The FEMA camp is hell on earth and when you read about this version, you understand why so many preppers in America are determined never to end up in one if a disaster should arise. I wouldn't want to be there that's for sure. It sounds like the New Orleans stadium during Katrina in a compulsory form and that would scare the crap out of me.
This is not my favourite book in the series as I didn't greatly enjoy the scenes of Michael being picked on by everyone in the camp. I just didn't like that part of the plot although it was very well written by the author, making you never want to set foot in a place like that. A lot of preppers believe that Americans will be forced into FEMA camps, and when you read about conditions in similar sounding refugee camps that are run by aid agencies and governments, it does not sound like an appealing prospect. This one in the book was very grim, especially for women. It is an important part of the plot here but I'm glad it isn't going to feature long term.
There are still very exciting and tense moments in the book though and there was a bit of a surprising twist at the end which I wasn't expecting. It could be interesting to see where the story goes next.

Another great book in 'The World Burns' series....with a heart wrenching ending! The "assistance" of a FEMA camp in the middle of an event like this is a very sobering thought. It's staggering how the human condition can fail so completely during a grid down event, though.
This book continued the series seamlessly with lots of action, lots of survival tips, and the connections that people can make when they really try to persevere. This fifth book did not disappoint and even gave me a ton of good ideas. I'm ready for the sixth book, 'Cries Of The World'!

This author has written a very good story in a series of books that I highly recommend. The story revolves around an EMP from an unexpected attack on the U.S.
The characters are well developed and the main characters persist thru all of the books in this series. Other characters are featured for less time.
The pace of the book / series is rapid with no places that bog down.
There is only minimal cussing and nowhere is God cursed.
This book / series really held my attention, entertained me, and left me with a positive feeling. I highly recommend it.

The World Bleeds BK 5
Again I am surprised with the turn of events in this story line. It is difficult to figure out where the story is going, which is perfection in its unpredictability! The books always end way too soon and I am left waiting for the next installment. Although I am truly enjoying the newest characters and the mystery surrounding them.

Last book of the series. More characters, more murder and mayhem, and more living off the grid. I liked this series, nothing real deep or life changing, but entertaining read. Lots of violence, some talk of rape, and cannibalism, very little swearing. I give it three stars and can recommend for ages 17 and up.

I enjoyed this installment the best of them all. The interaction of the characters with each other and new ones just keeps expanding where my mind wants to see this go. The author continues to surprise me. :)

I really hope this isn't the end. I would really like to see he fema refugees unite with Blake's growing group. Michael needs to find his mom who I believe was the first women John freed. Please Boyd give us more!

Blake Jackson has decided to take his former blog to the radio. Folks around the country start sharing their experiences to help one another live in this new reality without power. At the same time Michael, John, and the kids leave their mountain hideaway only to be captured by NATO forces and placed in a FEMA camp. Life there is barely scraping by with a shortage of supplies.
Craven’s fifth novella in The World Burns series, The World Bleeds: A Post-Apocalyptic Story, continues the struggles of the Jackson homestead. The homestead is adding survivors and has become a regular community of like-minded individuals that are self-reliant. The FEMA camps being run by NATO forces are little more than internment camps with forced labor. Conditions there are bad even for those that ended up there voluntarily.
These stories can serve as learning opportunities as well as a good read. They make me think about what we would need to know to survive a catastrophe. I am enjoying this series.
