Written So Far

Started by publishing short stories in men’s magazines; one to Alfred Hitchcock’s Mystery Magazine. First novel, ‘The Surfer Killers’ published as ‘Surfside Sex’ by Neva Paperbacks in early sixties. With Merit and Award books and through promoter Lyle Kenyon Engel, wrote seven Nick Carter spy/adventure screw and kill books. One book, ‘The Defector’ went into three printings and was translated into French and Japanese. And writing as Patrick Morgan, wrote ten spy/thrillers in the Operation Hang Ten series with titles like, ‘Hang Dead Hawaiian Style’(translated into French and Japanese), ‘Cute and Deadly Surf Twins’, ‘Deadly Group Down Under’ ‘Too Many Murders’ etc. As Ray Stanley, wrote ‘The Mini Cult Murders,’ loosely based on Charles Manson.
Breaking loose on my own in the late seventies, wrote a sci-fi Romance ‘Beyond Gender Wars,’ eventually published as eBook by Extasy Publishing in 2010. Self-published three books in Baylor Rumble series, ‘Bad Girl Dead,’ ‘Bleeding Sisters,’ ‘Catalina Killers,’ as well as non-fiction book, ‘Making it on Social Security’ and two memoirs, ‘The $900 Honda’ and ‘Roar and Thunder.’ In 2011 connected with BooksForABuck Publishing who published ‘Satin Shorts,’ and 2012 ‘The Crossfire Diamonds.’ Also in 2012 received an award from the Southwestern Writers Conference, Albuquerque in the mystery/detective/thriller category for my crime novel, ‘The Farewell Heist,’ published by BooksForABuck in July 2013. Solstice Publishing brought out the eBook of #4 in the Baylor Rumble crime novel series, ‘Baja Bullets’ and in 2013 the printed version.
In 2013 launched my new, Logan Sand hardboiled crime series. The first novel, ‘The Calcutta Dragon’ is complete. Halfway through the second, ‘Plundered Angels.’
And a television media production company is negotiating with my publisher/agent for a film option on ‘Baja Bullets.’

Kara Ramsey has lost both breasts to cancer. She is now told its back and she needs to get her affairs in order. Kara has come up with a plan to ensure that her husband gets her life insurance...a million dollars. She hires a hit man to kill her ..... in that case, her life insurance will be doubled. But as luck would have it, her cancer has gone into remission and she wants to cancel the contract. She turns to Mac Tuff, private investigator to stop the hitman.

The kicker is that Mac may also have breast cancer; she's just waiting for biopsy results.

I actually liked this book better than the first in the series. With this one, Mac is more humanized. There are lots of details on her past plus how she met Ace, her lover and back-up when her job needs one. She worries how Ace will act should be also have to have a mastectomy.

On the work front, the story line is great ..something different from what I'm used to seeing. There is a band of female hitmen .. or should I say, hitwomen. Mac 's job is to find the one who has the contract out on Kara and stop them. It's a hard road to travel, as people are dropping dead all around her, making it much more dangerous for her client.

Lots of action, lots of dead bodies, lots of emotions .. book is very well written. There were a couple of strange twists that kept me guessing until the end. All in all, a very entertaining read. I look forward to reading the next Mac Tuff book.

My thanks to the author, who graciously furnished his book in exchange for an honest, unbiased review.

Remember when, while reading “Pillot Shot”, I told you that George Snyder knows what he’s doing? It’s still on! I’ve reached for the second book in the Mac Tuff series and I couldn’t choose any better.

“Head Shot” touches a topic that’s very close to me – breast cancer. I was even more curious of this book than the first one and it’s just because this little element. It shows Mac in completely different light. She’s got more of a human inside and is simply more likeable, even though I like her since our “first meeting”.. Here, she made me like her more. Don’t worry – she didn’t lose her charm and class. As a private investigator she needs to stay on top of things and that makes everything even more interesting.

I enjoyed the story. It was even more dangerous and full of action. Races, dead bodies, investigation process – all of them seem so fascinating. The intrigue seems perfect – I was never sure what may happen next. It proves that “Head Shot” is a true crime thriller with a lot of good old suspense.

I was touched that author talked about breast cancer as my family already had too much to do with this disease.

If you’re looking for a story with drama and suspense – “Head Shot” is for you! Just remember to read “Pillow Shot” first. They are both worth your time!
