Very common sense guide to homesteading, but not incredibly specific. If you'd looking at these books I'd recommend getting the whole series, not just going through them piecemeal.
The title claims to be a complete guide, when this is more of an introduction to the general idea. Most every section ends with telling you to do more research (via one of the other books in the series!) which, while certainly good advice, hardly lives up to said title. (This is to be expected, it is not a large book by any means.)
Hence, if you already know a thing or two about digging in the dirt or chasing chickens, you're not going to get very much out of it. If you're absolutely, totally, brand spanking new however, it is a good resource to inspire and link you to other, more in depth resources. I do appreciate that, and that it is easy to understand. It gives just enough of an overview of any given topic to pique interest and spark an idea. It kept me entertained during the slow moments at work.
What a fantastic resource book! I borrowed this one from the library. However, I think I will try to find a used copy for my home library. It would be a great resource to have on hand for medicinal purposes and for dyeing fiber. There are also some really nice looking recipes at the back of the book.
This is a compact and very straightforward read and I learned a lot about a subject and lifestyle that I am interested in. I learned a lot! Very delightful illustrations throughout are a nice addition. This will be kept handy on the farm.
Informative, very basic, great for a first time gardner. There were a few weird sentences that just got me and I had to read a few times to understand what they were saying, but overall, a good resource.
