However, her empire is threatened when her ex-boyfriend, Trick wants his operation back and will stop at nothing until he gets the ultimate revenge. When old friends turn into enemies and greed calls, Mena won t know who to trust. Money Maker will give an eye-opening glimpse into the world of counterfeiting and into a battle where winner takes all. They say money is the root of all evil, but in this case it may be the cause of death.
Author Tonya Ridley takes Money Maker to a whole nother level. When you hear the term "money maker," I'm sure you are thinking it will be a story about a girl shaking what her mama gave her but in this case you would be totally wrong. What Mena Austin does is literally make money...conterfeit money that is.
Trick is Mena's drug-dealing boyfriend who is trying to get out of the business. Trick gets the brilliant idea to try a different profession that will have him stay in the lifestyle to which he is accustomed. That profession: making counterfeit money. Trick teaches Mena everything on how to make it look real and authentic. What Trick took for granted was to never tick a woman off that knows all your business. Mena is tired of Trick's cheating, no good ways and when an opportunity presents itself she sets Trick up and in turn goes on the run with the idea of setting up shop somewhere else.
Money Maker by Tonya Ridley is a tale of greed, betrayal and murder. It is a story of what the love of money can do to friendships and relationships. It portrays that with more money comes more problems. It is a quick read but it was too drawn out on the frivilous stuff, lacked substance in the critcal areas and was a bit far-fetched in others. All-in-all this was just an ok read.
