Sydney Arrison is an award-winning, multi-genre bestselling author. While a freshman in college, her English professor encouraged her to pursue writing as a career. She was a reporter for the independent press. Sydney’s follow-up to “My Heart In Seoul,” “Meet Me Under The Lavender Sky” was released in the fall of 2014. Her romantic- suspense novel “Brooklyn’s Song” was released in the fall of 2015. It was a 1st runner-up for a Swirl award in 2016. The author states, “the world I live in is diverse and inclusive and I would like that reflected in my writing. In my perspective, there are no limitations in love and relationships.”
Sydney loves to hike, bike and play badminton when she isn’t writing. She also enjoys eating fresh popcorn, watching foreign films and reading a good suspenseful mystery. Sydney lives in New York with her husband, two children, her cat and a new addition to her family, her late mom’s dog.
This is the love journey of Brooklyn and Song. Brooklyn is the privileged daughter of the first African-American governor of the state of New York. Song is the son of a 1st generation South Korean. Brooklyn although privileged she grew up with all of the best that life has to offer she was a pretty down-to-earth young lady. She is a elementary school teacher. And song is your average run-of-the-mill New York City detective. These twomeet and sparks fly immediately but as you would imagine both carry baggage very similar baggage they both know a bite and Hurtof a very close loved one dying before their time. They both recognize this pain and each other even before they discuss it. However things get very real when someone tries to hurt Brooklyn. Overall the story was a very good one although they were times I wanted to shake Brooklyn. But overall it was a good story especially towards the end. I recommend this book to you. The story is both interracial and an HEA. <3
The author takes a detour from her usual engaging interracial romance stories and introduces the reader to an absorbing story that seems to delve into political conspiracy. It is an authentic narrative with some adorable and quirky multiracial/multi-ethnic characters, a true representation of New York City. Protagonist Brooklyn Pierce has just witnessed an attempted assassination, and Detective Song Kai and his partner, Detective Mattice Blake, are on the case. But as the story progresses, sparks begin to develop between Brooklyn and Song, providing the reader with a storyline overflowing with sensuality, compassion, and romance amidst the onset of drama, tension, suspicion, deception and murder, and an explosive ending, which you will never see coming. I enjoyed the mutual respect and compassion that Song and Mattice have for each other; they demonstrate what it really means to serve and protect its citizens.
Everything you want in a good mystery romance story. This was such a good story to sink your teeth into and just simply enjoy. The well fleshed characters were people you could actually know and like. There are some moments when you are just laughing out loud and there are moments when you are just sighing because you imagine it happening. This a well written thought out story with a little something for everyone.I look forward to reading more from this writer.
I loved this story about Brooklyn and Song. They both had to over come heart break. The story is funny too. It is good to find something to laugh about when you are having a bad day. Brooklyn and Song found humor on those days. It was good to see a storyline were the was not some wealthy son, he was just a hard working man taking care of his grandmother. Great story
Brooklyn's Song: This book will keep you intrigued with a lot of intricate twists and turns that make you want to keep reading. The author skillfully takes you through suspense, humor, romance and thrills. An incredible read.
This was so well-written and what a page turner! You have a crime that is being solved while you get to read about the blossoming relationship between Song and Brooklyn, which is just so sweet and hot at the same time. I just love that instant attraction just flourishes as you read on. You really root for this couple to be together and be happy because they are both good people with some wounds that only they can can heal for each other. It's just yummy. Really recommend this book!
OMG!!! Where do I begin with this book? I had the book when it first released, and just now getting to read it on my kindle. Why did I take so long? Intrigue 👍 Romance 👍 Great plot & characters 👍 Secondary characters 👍 Could see this book as a movie 👍 My new favorite author 👍👍
I am a woman of color and it was refreshing to see Brooklyn Pierce portrayed as an educated, moral woman. Song was so sexy and Mattice was the comic relief and overall it was a fun suspenseful and romantic read. Can't wait for Sydney's next book. Great read.
Brooklyn's Song by Sydney Arrison has a great story with strong characters. The story is your normal cop falls for victim storyline but what kilo makes this one better than most is the characters. You really get to like them and want them to be happy.
Crime novels are my type of books but a friend recommended this to me and I am so glad she did. Mrs. Arrison did her thing! nice solid plot with twist and turns I didn't see coming. Usually I find I figure out the end before it happens not this time.
Nope I didn't see that coming. I took a break from my millionaire/billionaire books and took a chance on this one it was exceptional mystery that deals with loss in a very realistic way. Mattice was so funny too .Song was just what Brook needed. Don't want to give anything away but OMG!!
Very substantive and intelligent writing. The love scenes were tastefully done not raunchy or explicit. and the mystery kept me guessing to the end. Well done author.
I really enjoyed this book, it was like a "who done it" story. The detective's name is SONG, and the heroine's is Brooklyn. They had chemistry from day 1, both knew it was a matter of time.
FIVE STARS!!!! i'm a Serious mystery buff here and I like that I didn't know what was going to happen next. There were layers upon layers of goodness. I enjoy whodunit type books and this was one of those type of reads. BWWM and AMBW books are my favorites. The promotion of loving , stable relationships in this world is what we need now. Good job author.
A book with a little of everything! I love books that have good story lines. This is my first Sydney Arrison book, and it gave me a little of everything I love. Brooklyn is the daughter of the governor. After an attempt on the governor's life, Brooklyn meets detective Song Kai. And from there we have an incredible story. From the whodunnit of the murder attempt to the budding love between Brooklyn and Song, I was drawn in. There are a few twists and turns throughout the book, some angst and sadness from the past to overcome and abundant passion with the two main characters. I have to say that the character of Mattice, Song's partner really brought a lot of humor to the story as well. What a great friend who just tells it like it is! Arrison knows how to weave all the different parts together for a wonderful story.
Rose Lane did an beautiful job performing this book. She has a rich, warm voice giving the story the emotion necessary to draw you in. Loved the narration!
I'm a new fan for this author. I love her style of writing. Not allowing the characters to meet, have sex and fall in love all in the span of A few days. You got to see them grow. And only a very few typo's. I was very impressed
I liked this book because it told a story in which the characters happen to be Korean and African American. The story was a s well developed and kept my attention. I was delighted to read a book featuring a interracial couple where the guy was not a Billionaire and the girl struggling to make ends meet. I would recommend this book to a friend interest in a quick read.
This was my first time reading a book written by this author. I have to say that it was an excellent read. There's strong character development, a few smiles, a few oh no moments and not overly explicit sex scenes. The storyline was seamlessly written. I enjoyed every moment of this book. Thrills, chills, fun sex, fights...all of the combinations of a good book to me
I really enjoyed this story! I loved how dramatic this story was. Harold...wow boy you threw me for a loop..Out of all peoples I would, well never mind.. I loved the Chemistry between Song and Brooklyn too.. Theresa, smh. Great story😊
I truly enjoyed this book. The author wrote a good story with twists that you don't see coming and I can tell you that it has been some time that I've read a book that isn't predictable.
I'm very impressed with this authors ability to weave so many elements into an outstanding story. By far one of the best books I've read by an indie author. Quite frankly I was speechless at the conclusion of the story.
Song and Brook are shy at their meeting, but soon, and I do mean soon they are tangled up in the sheets. Would read this again. It is as good as Sam and AJ in St. Pierre books.
It was okay, the mystery was more fascinating than the main characters Song and Brooklyn who were one note and just boring to read about. Mattice and Song had more chemistry
Took a chance on a new author and delightfully discovered this gripping page-tuner. Kept it real throughout the story. Was like watching a movie in my head. Read this one.
A fun, underrated and diverse crime romance. I liked the pacing of the murder mystery, but the romance felt under developed. There here wasn’t anything remarkable about the writing, but I loved how diverse the book was. Reading about an interracial romance where being interracial is not once mentioned, and just treated normally, especially with a crime storyline - is rare. Very fun indeed..
