Shocking news has rocked the Mediterranean Principality of Agon. Prince Theseus—second in line to the throne—is rumored to have fathered a secret love child.
Reports surfaced the moment stunning royal biographer Joanne Brooks was hired to memorialize King Astraeus's reign. It seems she's brought more than pens and paper!
Witnesses suggest that five years ago, our onetime bad boy prince traveled the world in disguise as engineer Theo Petakis and met Joanne. This reporter wants to know how Ms. Brooks will react when our commanding prince wants to claim his child and his bride!

THESEUS DISCOVERS HIS HEIR by Michelle Smart is the 2nd book in her Kalliakis Crown Series about 3 Princes and brothers.
I enjoyed the 1st book in the series, Talos Claims His Virgin and was looking forward to Prince Theseus book.
Five years ago, Joanne Brookes had a torrid and steamy fling with a gorgeous Greek man, Theo Patakis, whilst on holiday on a Greek island. When she returns home, she discovers that she’s pregnant and has spent years trying, unsuccessfully, to find Theo to tell him about their son.
She’s been given an assignment to do research for the biography of King Astreus of Argon and when she meets the Prince who is in charge of the book, she’s shocked to discover that Prince Theseus is the same man she had met and known as Theo Patakis.
Theseus was not the most likable character in the beginning but as the story progressed, I did find myself warming up to him. He kind of grew on me.
I did like Joanne – she was a caring and loving person……and also the love for her cute son.
The interaction between Theseus and his father was really beautiful.
The story developed at a good pace as Theseus and Jo try to work out their issues.
I would have loved if Talos and Amalie from previous book had played a bigger part in this book.
An enjoyable read of the girl who gets her Prince!!!!
Oh, this was a nice secret baby story. Baby was secret because the heroine didn't know "Theo" was a prince and she couldn't find him once she was pregnant. The baby is four years old when our heroine is tapped to finish the authorized biography the prince has commissioned for his grandfather. A coincidence worthy of an HP story.
The heroine is a wonderful character - hard-working, loving and always trying to do the right thing. The hero has been doing the wrong thing most of his life (he was the rebel second son who was jealous of his older brother), but has spent the five years since his one-night stand with the heroine on the straight and narrow. No women since then. (Out of guilt for missing his grandmother's deathbed)
There isn't a lot of mystery to the plot, but everything moves at the right pace. The revelation of the secret baby, meeting his son, demanding they marry, the heroine meeting the king - are all expected but are fleshed out nicely. Their dark moment is appropriately dark, but it's obvious they belong together and of course it works out.
Just a *nice* story. I look forward to reading the last story in the series about the oldest brother.
I love the secret baby trope. Theo and Joanne have a fling while on vacation but Theo doesn't reveal his true identity to her. Five years later Joanne discovers that her child's father is in fact Prince Theseus. When Theseus learns he is a father he is determined to claim his child and Joanne.
Great read. I wasn't a fan of this author but l find her latest books amazing. Virginal heroines, sexy heroes and plenty of angst. I loved that hero and heroine remained celibate during separation. I wish more harlequin authors wrote like this. Also heroine was warm and loving. Not your typical MS heroine lol Epilogue was super romantic.
Very enjoyable and believable HEA. No huge over-the-top drama and I still very much enjoyed it. Smart does have a talent.
H/h were both as anchored in the real world as HPLandia residents can be. The h was a lovely person and the H wasn't a OTT jerk. There was a brief period of the H flexing his powerful prince-of-a-fake-country muscles with threats of keeping the heroine under lock and key until she caves to his demands. Personally, I love that crap even though I'm not usually a big follower of HPs about royalty.
I did have to roll my eyes at the glimpses of the H's older brother, Helios, being wangsty about his sacrifice for his fake country. His book, the next in the series, is not my favorite. Helios makes me ill.
Realized it is very 'Earthist' of me to mock the pain and patriotic sacrifice of HPLandia royals. Then again, Helios still sucks. Luckily, this wasn't his book and I didn't have to see more than glances.
Y.Y I had a really long review but my dear internet cheated on me so I'll write a shorter version of what I remember I wrote.
I knew it! The moment I read about Theseus undercover sabbatical in Talos claims his virgin I knew Theseus would soon find he made a love-child in said sabbatical. Now I love the secret-baby plot only if there is a good enough reason for the h not telling the H about the baby. In this case Jo met Theseus under another name so she wouldn't ever find him tough she tried Theseus is the spare heir to Agon's throne, as such he's always felt less than his older brother Helios, plus he had ambitions that were impossible because of his title so the majority of what he felt was resentment. After his grandma's death he's being trying to be perfect to show his grandpa his love, so now he's in charge of the writing of a biography for his grandpa. Jo grew up with indifferent parents so what she craved the most was affection. She met and fell in love with a "Greek engineer", after no luck tracing him she starts working for a firm specialized in biographies until she is forced to step in (because her boss was suddenly ill) to finish the biography of the King of Agon. I felt too coincidental this second encounter between H and h. Call me names but I would have preferred that the King had orchestrated it all to leave everything in order before he passed. By the way, what's with the heroines's mothers in these series? Neither was mother of the month :s About the development of H and h's relationship, I liked it and had some heart-melting parts but it wasn't that amazing.
I enjoyed this book but it got off to a slow start. At times I felt I was on a roller coaster and there were a lot of feels involved which I like.
Prince Theseus, second in line to the throne, has a secret child that he knows nothing about but that's no ones' fault but his own. He met and was crazy about a young woman named Joanne when he was out traveling the world. While he was out and about he used a 'fake name' which has cost him five years of his child's life. He never corrected that info with the young woman and she ended up pregnant with their son.
She had looked for him everywhere and was devastated that she had not found him in the five years since their brief affair. He used a fake name when traveling to cover the fact he was a prince. There wouldn't have been a problem in locating him if he had shared his given name. Of course, like it turns out in Harley-Land, he places all the blame on the woman, the one that even now is still searching for him! She's tough and lets him have it. I love me a strong heroine.
She has been asked to write a history book of the present King's life and who shows up at the palace to do the interviews and write the book? Yep, Joanne Brooks, the royal biographer and former lover of the Prince. They were shocked to see one another again and it didn't take long for the sparks and their clothing to fly.
She took this job because a bonus was offered and she was going to use that bonus to take her son on a trip to Greece to try and find Theo, the child's father...Theo is the name he used when he wanted to hide his royal status.
Here is what I loved about this book. The hero, at one time, had been a real player. He knew he needed to change and get his mind on his royal duties instead of running off frequently and leaving all the work to the king and his two brothers. He made a decision to be as Princely as possible and his first step was realizing he needed to be celibate. So hurrah! The hero was celibate from the night he was with the young woman until five years later when she shows up at the palace. That's a long time...especially for an HP!
Once they are almost finished with the book she tells him about their son. He is furious and claims she purposely kept his son away from him. That is so not true and he begins to figure this out. He sends for the boy while he holds Joanne hostage. Smooth move a$$hat!
I definitely recommend this book. The others in the series I did not care for and in the third book the oldest son begrudgingly gets engaged to the woman he is expected to marry. I think it was the same evening that he announces his engagement that he begins a new affair...a mistress if you will. If you are engaged you do not see another woman, let alone have monkey sex with her repeatedly. As he falls for her and her for him he wonders how he can get himself out of this mess. Of course his fiancee figures out what is going on. If worse comes to worse he will marry the princess and keep the new mistress throughout his marriage. (Then our sweetheart of King will be cheating on two women. That kind of thing does not sit well with me and I chose not to finish.)
Reread: still 4 stars. I don’t know what in the world got me thinking about this book, but I couldn’t get it out of my head. So I did a re-listen. It’s available on hoopla as an audiobook, so it’s very convenient. 😅 I felt a little ridiculous revisiting it again only a few months after the first time, but whatever. It was still good. The hero is a BIG idiot at times, but I was able to forgive him. I do wish the heroine had had more of a backbone though.
First read: 4 stars. This was way better than I anticipated it would be. I mean, I’ve read a lot of secret baby stories in the last few days and somehow figured I wouldn’t be impressed with this one. But au contraire, I was wrong. I loved the heroine, she was one strong biatch. Unfortunately, the typical too-injured-from-childhood hero did have some idiotic moments that irritated me. He needed to pull his dumb head out of his dumb ass quicker, but I did forgive him because the ending was very sweet and totally worth his other irritating behavior.
Safe; hero and heroine met 5 years prior to the start of the story and had a ONS which ended in her getting pregnant. She was a virgin and he was probably a manwhore but the story didn’t get too specific. They both stayed celibate during the separation!!! 🌈 🦄 🪄

Enjoyable read. Loved the MCs Theseus & Joanne & their adorable four year old son, Toby. The two had excellent chemistry.
Joanne is the kind of heroine I love. Sweet, virginal with right amount of spunk. Loved how she left Theseus to figure out for himself how to handle an energetic four year old.
I liked this story. Lots of emotions from both their childhood, hindered the relationship. One night stand, false name made it impossible for her to find him. But fate brought them back together .
Author Michelle Smart weaves a convincing tale in her latest Harlequin Presents novel Theseus Discovers His Heir. Ms. Smart brings lots of emotion, drama and intense moments to the page. Her poetic writing style, likable characters, touching sometimes highly dramatic dialogues and scenic descriptions pull you into the book and leaves you satisfied until the last page.
At first I didn’t like Theseus but eventually as I got to know him as the story progresses, I found him to be considerate. I saw him grow as the plot unravels and his change in character highlights Joanne’s motherly instincts. I especially found her character refreshing with the way she showers all her love on her darling son.
A few years back, Joanne Brooks had a steamy rendezvous with a gorgeous Greek man on a Mediterranean island. After she and Theo Patakis parted Joanne realizes her hot fling left her pregnant. So she goes out on a mission to find the father of her son. But shock leaves her breathless when upon doing research for her new stint writing the biography for King Astreus of Agon, she sees the face of Theo in that of Prince Theseus Kalliakis. She couldn't find Theo because in reality he didn't exist. I cheered on Theseus and Joanne through their journey eradicating the gap between them for the sake of their young son. I enjoyed the ending and I think the author did a good job resolving all the unanswered questions between the hero and heroine.
An OK story about a "secret" baby who is now a 4-year-old child. Joanne Brooks has been searching for her child's father, knowing only that he was a Greek engineer. She didn't realize that he was actually Prince Theseus, 2nd in line to the crown. Now the prince wants his son at any cost.
I liked that the reader was able to see both sides through lots of internal monologue, from the time they met until the ending, but somehow the story itself didn't really rise above just "ok" to me.
I tried. I tried. I really really tried. But I can't. Are Michelle Smart and Maya Blake the same person? This book was sooooo very similar to Brunetti's Secret Son in structure, same old story with a slight tweaks in location, setting and characters. I don't know who wrote the story first but too much the same.
Basically another virgin gets knocked up on a night stand then fast forward a few years time, finds out her baby's daddy is a prince - the other book the hero (Romeo) was a billionaire. Both men instantly propose marriage, yawn. What got me was the same thoughts the heroines had - if he doesn't love me will he love my child? And the same actions - I went looking for you, in every bar, pub and coffee shop. Really? Okay a slight exaggeration.
Getting back to this series, I barely tolerated Helios his brother in the other book. Theseus, I found tedious to read, as for Joanne...whatever. Tedious Theseus there is even a ring to it. Not even for my harlequin fix could I get past the first chapter.
I'm sure it gets better but after reading Brunetti's Secret Son by Maya Blake which has the same underlying structure I pretty much get what would happen especially if both heroines are coming from the same page. Read other reviews to make up your mind.
“Freedom comes in many forms…you don’t have to hide the essence of yourself away for ever.”
I loved this book. Long lost love, secret baby, lost hero, strong heroine, all my favorite tropes in one small book. ☺
Jo meets Theo while vacationing after university. He saves her from a group of aggressive guys. This leads to a friendship that Jo never expected to go anywhere, until Theo shows up at her door late one night, hurting, after learning that his grandmother is dying. Jo offers him comfort until he could travel home the following morning. He promises to call her, but never does. Five years later, she is sent to finish the biography of the King of Agon with Prince Theseus, the man she once knew as Theo.
I absolutely enjoyed this book. Jo and Theseus have great chemistry. Michelle Smart’s Kalliakis Crown series has turned out to be a delightful series. I was hooked after reading Talos Claims His Virgin and was not disappointed with Theseus and Jo’s story. I will be falling into Helios’ story next. For Harlequin lovers, this is a Must Read.
Love the concept of this romance an affair that leads to a child but Joanne is unable to inform Theseus he is a father as he has vanished from her life. Joanne has been searching for Theseus and through fate is asked to finish work at the royal palace where she comes face to face with the father of her son. A well written romance that is the 2nd in a trilogy but also can easily be led as a stand alone.
This uses my favorite version of the secret baby trope -- where it's only a secret because the heroine couldn't find the baby daddy. I really enjoyed it. I really appreciate how competent Joanne was at her job and how great a mother she was. I did really want to punch Theseus in the face for a bit but he got better. I would like to read the last book in this trilogy RIGHT NOW, PLEASE.
Hired as a royal biographer.

Michelle Smart always writes such entertaining stories with really well developed characters. This series, about three brothers - Talos, Theseus and Helios - all Princes of a fictitious country, is one of the few series I’ve read where all three stories are excellent.
Good. It even brought a tear to my eye. Though the infinite mentions of the heroine's "autumn" tresses were too much and there were 2 "or so she thought". Overall - a really enjoyable story.
Heroine and hero have a ONS, she's pregnant and cannot find him. Five years later she is a writer and she finds out he's a prince. He lied to her telling he'd be in contact and gave her a false identity. The jerk. When they meet again she's different: she was a chubby self-conscious girl, now she's a beautiful self-confident woman, he hardly recognizes her. She waits before telling him he has a son, because she doesn't know what kind of man he is. He finds out before she tells him and he is furious. He forces her to marry him, but afterwards he understand that it's wrong because he loves her and she should be free instead of being bound to him and all his duties. So he sends her and their son back to England. Eventually he comes back and asks him to marry because he's always been in love with her. I didn't like the hero very much because his description as a responsible man doesn't match his actions. He had sex with a young woman and never calls her back to make sure she's ok. He also gives her a false name. Then he's angry because she didn't tell him immediately he's a father, when his sins are far worse... But he has something good: he realizes he was a bastard with her, he is celibate for 5 years after he met heroine -and that in HP land is something remarkable-, he likes the heroine even when she was chubby and doesn't make any fuss about her weight. A nice low angts story.
This was so good. The hero wasn't a complete jerk like the other heroes of HP landia and the heroine was surprisingly strong. What I liked in this one is the heroine never wanted to keep the father of her child in the dark unlike the other heroines in secret baby books. The heroine was saving her money to find her baby's daddy and also learnt Greek because she wanted to find him. Overall the book met my expectations and now I'm gonna read the younger brother's book.
I confess to have not read the book beyond Chapter 1 and 13 but between the two chapters I read I have concluded that the H is an idiot with a very low IQ and lower EQ. The h has an equally low IQ and is delusional. The plot was predictably tedious and the characters so uninteresting that I didn’t even bother reading the last chapter.
Very entertaining story. Didn't warm to Theseus initially but he did manage to redeem himself very nicely. Have enjoyed the first two books in this series.
Absolutely love that the hero was celibate the whole 5 year separation (I really don't believe his hindsight reasoning that he was in love with heroine from that night, I'm just glad that he didn't sleep with anyone else). I Liked the heroine and the son, he was adorable well written. P.
Theseus Discovers His Heir is Book 2 of the Kalliakis Crown Series by Michelle Smart. Now who doesn’t love a good romance story featuring some secret baby drama?! This is definitely a tried and true Harlequin story right here and works wonderfully! A guy and gal have a fling several years ago and go on their separate ways. Girl finds out she’s preggo and plans on tracking down the baby’s daddy to tell him of the news. When checking out a website for some information on a job she is to do, she stumbles across an picture and realizes that the baby’s daddy isn’t a regular everyday joe but a prince and she’s to help write up a biography on his grandfather, the king...yowza!
