Christy Barritt is an author, freelance writer and speaker who lives in Virginia. She’s married to her Prince Charming, a man who thinks she’s hilarious—but only when she’s not trying to be. Christy’s a self-proclaimed klutz, an avid music lover who’s known for spontaneously bursting into song, and a road trip aficionado. She’s only won one contest in her life—and her prize was kissing a pig (okay, okay… actually she did win the Daphne du Maurier Award for Excellence in Suspense and Mystery also). Her current claim to fame is showing off her mother, who looks just like former First Lady Barbara Bush
When she’s not working or spending time with her family, she enjoys singing, playing the guitar, and exploring small, unsuspecting towns where people have no idea how accident prone she is.

Christy Barritt is one of my top five favorite authors at the current time, yet of all her books the ones I tend to like least are the ones published by Harlequin/Love Inspired Suspense. Don't get me wrong, I still give them a 4-Star rating at a minimum -- they're that good! -- but they rarely have that same spark that her self-published novels have. For me that changed with this book.

Tessa has been on the run for eight months after collecting evidence that her fiance was selling secrets to foreign enemies. Trent has been hired by Tessa's family to find her and bring her home. Needless to say, bullets fly and there's plenty of action as Tessa and Trent try to stay at least one step ahead of the men hunting for them.

Tessa may be my favorite heroine in Barritt's Love Inspired Suspense novels. She's wary but isn't scared of her own shadow. She and Trent work alongside each other as they attempt to regain the evidence needed to put her former fiance and his family behind bars. She can shoot well and can pick locks. She is definitely not the kind of girl who waits to be rescued by a man. And Trent, though he is protective of Tessa, isn't unwilling to allow her to use her skills when needed.

Barritt once again provides action, intrigue, and strong, well-developed characters for an afternoon of reading pleasure. Mountain Hideaway is highly recommended.

From the first chapter, Christy Barritt in her latest Love Inspired Suspense Mountain Hideaway grabbed my attention. Every time I thought Trent and Tessa would be okay for a while, Barritt throws another curve in their way. Bullets fly. Near death experiences. All in a pursuit to save Tessa who discovered items about her ex-fiancé’s terrorist connections. The romance was too quick for my personal preference, but I know that is what Harlequin prefers. Tessa and Trent are heroic characters, and it was hard not to like them. Barritt hits it out of the park with another unique and tense storyline.

I received a complimentary copy of Mountain Hideaway from Christy Barritt and the opinions stated are all my own.

MOUNTAIN HIDEAWAY is a fast-paced romantic suspense. The heroine, Tessa, found evidence against her fiance, but she looses the evidence and without it, no one can find anything substantial against him. Trent is a PI hired by her parents to find her, but Tessa doesn't know if he's a good guy or a bad guy. Who does she trust?

In this game of cat and mouse, friends are enemies and enemies are friends. I read this through in an evening. The story never slowed down. Tessa and Trent were kept running for their lives and fighting to stay alive in a blizzard and only a step away from being captured.

If you are a fan of romantic suspense or of Christy Barritt, you'll want to read MOUNTAIN HIDEAWAY.

Another action packed book by Christy Barritt. Tessa is on the run from her ex-fiancé after she finds out he has ties to terrorism and tries to turn him in. Trent has been hired by her family to find her and bring her home. When Trent does find her Tessa she doesn't know whether to trust him or not, but is quickly forced to make a decision as other men begin to come after her. From here on out, it felt like Tessa and Trent couldn't get a break. The pursuers always seemed to be right on their tail. Will Tessa be able to out run those after her and get the evidence needed to turn her ex in? I enjoyed the energy of the story and the way each chapter ended in suspense.

I received this book free from the author in exchange for an honest review.

I could not put this down. Tess was in constant danger. Good thing she had Trent to protect her. These two could not find a moment's rest. As soon as they found some place safe Leo's evil henchmen would find them. I have lost count the number of times they escaped by the skin of their teeth. In this book you knew from the beginning who the bad guy was. No surprises here. Romance did develop between Tess and Trent and I felt it was done quite well despite this being a short book.

Captivating, Intriguing, Page Turner

Once again, Christy Barrett has hit it out of the park! From the first page, I was hooked and couldn't turn the pages fast enough.

A chilly tale of suspense!

Christy Barritt and Love Inspired Suspense, need I say more? Mountain Hideaway delivers non-stop danger and excitement from one of my absolute favorite authors. You can't go wrong with this book, and by the end you'll shiver with the cold as you breathlessly turn the pages. Mountain Hideaway is another great story from Christy Barritt.

This was an intense, fast-moving book. There were several times the book had me on the edge of my seat. I wondered how Trent, and Tessa were going to escape the men who were chasing them. Tessa’s Ex was into some pretty bad things. When Tessa found out, she copied his computer files so she could turn them into the FBI. After they were copied, her ex came into the office. In the process of running out of the office, she dropped the computer chip down an A/C vent. She had no choice but to take off running and living off the grid. Her family was worried about her. They didn’t know where she was, or if she was okay. They hired Trent to find her. He was a retired soldier and working as a PI. Her Ex made it seem he was worried too. He helped her family pay Trent. He wanted her found and didn’t care who was hurt in the process. Trent and Tessa fell in love while literally running for their life’s. This was an excellent book.

I wanted to like this story, but there were some things that I found unfavorably surprising. First, nothing in the description led me to know that this was Inspirational romance, with too much God talk. I personally don't think there's a place for this in romantic suspense, which is what I thought this book was all about. Second, some of the action sequences were confusing. One minute the couple was sneaking away from the gas station fearing they'd be discovered by the thugs following them, the next minute the thugs were in hot pursuit, with no explanation of the route from Point A to point B in the sequence. Confusing at best, irritating at worst. The actual story idea was intriguing, which was why I chose to stick with it and finish the book.

Favorite Line ~ The world needed people who weren't afraid to battle for what they believed in, to fight for the rights of other."

Ugh, this is the fourth book I’ve read in the last couple weeks where a woman is running for her life and a male hero of some sort is protecting her — and through all the stress, suspense and terror they notice how attractive the other is and how much they want to be with them. I’m going to finish the book to see if it comes out as predictable as the others.
********************************************

So, I have to say, my star-rating has to do with the age level for this story and the many errors. If I were a teen I might have like this. Suspense, clean romance, running for their lives, danger, bad guys vs good guys, plus simple language.

But for a more mature adult, this might seem a bit repetitive and juvenile. The story wasn’t bad just overdone.

I think this is the first book by Christy Barritt I have read, but it won't be my last. This is an action packed novel as a former Navy seal and policeman tries to rescue a friend's daughter from thugs who are trying to kill her. There are few restful moments for the pair as they try to survive in the mountains of West Virginia in the winter. Ms. Barritt keeps her plot moving with breath taking moments as the bad guys constantly get closer to Tessa and Trent. I was ready for a rest myself after I finished reading the book!!

Tessa had been burned by the person she was in love with- the ultimate betrayal. When Trent shows up looking for her and brings the trouble she was hiding from, she has no choice but to follow him in order to survive. Stubborn and determined to do things her way, she continues to try to evade Trent and slip away. Finally she decides to trust him with her life and her heart. A great book by a great author!

I started reading this and immediately recognized the plot as having read this before. However, since I couldn't remember when, and I do like to reread books sometimes, I plowed ahead, and I still liked it as much as I did the first time. There were a couple of "well, that was convenient" type moments, but on the whole it was a good read with nice suspense and good, pretty well rounded characters.

Action filled

Suspense and action through out the story. Trust and faith issues in the characters resonate with real life, making them feel real. Ms. Barritt succeeded in her world building, allowing the reader to experience the setting with out problem.
There were a few editing mistakes but all in all the writing was great.

Whoa!

Hang on! You will feel as if it is you running for your life!
Tessa and Trent start off on the wrong foot, and that’s putting it mildly, but what would you expect when you find out your fiancé is a terrorist?
The characters are 3-dimensional and the action fast-paced. Enjoy!

easy delightful read

This was a great book to read if you just want to relax into an amazing romance with plenty of danger and intrigue, and a whole lot of Jesus. One of those books you know will have that satisfying fairy tale ending but you read on to find out how this comes to be.

suspenseful

I enjoyed reading this book. The author made it surprising and suspenseful almost the the end. Of course book endings are the hardest to write and this book had the same problem. The ending was predictable and sappy as well as disappointing for those reasons.

loved this book

Trent and Tessa were at odds with each other from the beginning. Read this book to find out if that worked against them or for them. Very fast paced action. I had to love this book being a West Virginia girl myself. Highly recommend

When Trent shows up at her mountain hideaway and bullets start flying, Tessa doesn't know if she can trust him. He's been searching for her a long time and doesn't know if he can trust that she is not guilty of what she is accused of. This is a good mystery full of surprises.
