I quite like a variation where the Bennets have improved themselves along with their circumstances. I liked the way it happens here and the situations and circumstances that arise from it. But I found that the author wrote the dialogues like they meant each and every one of them to be profound and meaningful every time. Other than the delivery of those lines I quite liked this book.

Lovely story

One of the best variations I've ever read. The author should be proud! The story is full of people growing past the place they began. Even Lady Catherine.

holy smokes this was a good surprise

Clean, low angst, suitable all ages. Possible triggers: medical emergency, regency period violence. PLOT: Mr Bennet attends a special Meryton
assembly when the King/Queen
attend to address the Parish & shocks everyone when he takes a decidedly decisive action; doing so alters his own life forever as he realizes his life has been rather wasted up to that moment; no spoilers—but he’s eventually rewarded with far more than just Netherfield Park! He receives another chance to make over his life. Found this to be an interesting plot twist. Admit almost DNF bc first chapters gave off rather typical characterization vibes where Mrs Bennet is a shrew (altho I enjoy those), Mr Bennet is an indolent narcissist etc—omg what a loss that would have been for this ardent JAFF reader. I TRULY ENJOYED THIS BOOK despite fact plot isn’t locked in on ODC. This variation is more like ensemble cast movie (using PP canon characters) based on truism it only takes one human being’s act of courage in face of deadly consequences to alter several futures in unprecedented ways — & as story continues, proves to be a believable reimagining of Bennet Family saga or, as we wished them to be? We still find Wickham’s shenanigans fairly egregious & Lady Catherine shows up with an ugly bonnet & attitude, Caroline Bingley shares her snarkiness when she feels threatened—so there are canon moments too. I really loved how this author gave genuine insight into canon characters inner workings & why they react as they do which did make me see them more …benignly? There’s one minor/major angst-y event (of course involves Wickham) but the Bennet Family shines during that darkest moment (Lydia is a gem here). Recommend this book to anyone interested in JAFF & it’s on my TBRA list.

It follows the original pretty closely with a few interesting diversions. I’ll admit Bingley never earned my forgiveness either in the original or many of the variations I’ve read. I like him with Jane without the spineless behaviour, but this Bingley was sweet and grew on me. I was also horribly disappointed in Darcy despite knowing Elizabeth before the Mayerton Ball; he still insulted her, making it a hundred times more hurtful. I was a bit confused by both Darcy and Caroline’s attitude to the Bennets as an estate that earns more than Bingley is worth should have meant that calling the Bennets fortune hunters superfluous, but it was as if that was forgotten. Still a fun read.

in this version, Mr Bennet "wakes up" after he saves the King from choking, and nearly loses his life that same day. They get Netherfield, the girls get governesses and become accomplished and mostly sensible. When Bingley and Darcy come to town things are very different. Everyone is perfect and makes the best choices (except for our villains), and everything is wrapped up and tied neatly in a bow at the end.

It was a very low stakes, angst free version of P&P, where you get to spend time with the best version of the familiar characters.

Royally awesome story!

A totally different P/P variation. I loved the characterizations of each characters, including the wicked Wickham, the cantankerous Lady Catherine and atrocious Caroline! The grateful act of the royal family is commendable. I love the sentimentality and the reactions depicted. It's not over the top. Every page is a worthy read.. I highly recommend... Please read....

An Exceptional Story

An exceptional story, very well written and delivered. The abundance of wealth provided more I. The way of family, love, generosity, and lessons learned. I strong recommend reading this story, which is more about ALL of the Bennet Family versus an Elizabeth and Darcy-centered story. A good story is one that will make you laugh, make you reflect, and move you to tears. For me, this is one of those books.

This was not among my favorites of the books featuring the Bennetts' rise in social class. I liked the first half more than the second half, which seemed to get bogged down in details that were of less interest to me. I liked the portrayal of Mr. Bennett, who had become wise and devoted to his family.

Brilliant P&P variation.

It was a difficult task to put this book down. The humor written had me laughing out loud! As the Bennet family experienced wonderful changes…so did our characters! Wonderfully written book!

Read free. I bought it!

This is just a lovely story of the Bennet family's evolution due to one single MAJOR event.

This progression is just artful. I totally recommend this book.

As I mentioned, I borrowed it for free. After reading it - I bought it.

The Crown's Gift

What a wonderful P&P variation! The storyline follows our favorite characters in new ways bringing out the best and worst of their behaviors. The dialog is the best I have ever read up to now. I will place this rendition high on my reread list!

really Wonderful but Too Long

Great story, well told and developed but the editor should have cut the last few chapters by at least half. The lovely story was over and we have to read about a granddaughter asking for jam. Creative Author and Lazy Editor.
