As a lifetime follower and lover of the Detroit Tigers and the game of baseball, this was a fun read. It could have been presented a little more chronologically, but dividing it up by subject matter was interesting as well.

Fun, relaxing read.

Good baseball stories if a little disjointed in sequence.

Mr. Ebling tells some very interesting tales, but tends to repeat himself across multiple chapters. Additionally some of the stories get a bit stat heavy.

A fun collection for any fan of the Detroit Tigers, or baseball history in general. I knew a lot going in but this was full of all sorts of interesting factoids like :
Willie Horton was the last of 21 children (!!!) born to his mother and father.
Ty Cobb once incited a riot at Briggs stadium because he wouldn't stop calling Babe Ruth the N-word. (Why the N-word? I don't know.)
Justin Verlander could throw 93mph in the 9th grade.

So cool to read about things I never saw and/or don't remember. There are some just incredible stats and records that just make you go "wow"!

That said, the stats and play-by-play descriptions can get a little tedious. I do like stats but it got a little boring at times.

I'm looking forward to reading the updated version!!!!!

Excellent book about Michigan's favorite team by Michigan's favorite sports author. All the bases are covered here--pun intended! From Ty Cobb to Miguel Cabrera, Detroit's greatest sporting achievements are collected, processed, compared, and glossed with nostalgia. Eat 'em up Tigers!
