Available in English for the first time, Three Months with Revelation is popular author Justo Gonzalez’ study of Revelation. Eminently readable, the study uses the see-judge-act method to bring readers closer to the text and informs and challenges the daily life of the Christian. These thirteen studies can be used for Sunday school, for evening Bible study, for home study meetings, for faith communities, for retreats, and for personal Bible study. In addition, Three Months with Revelation can easily be used as a daily Bible study, as each lesson is divided into seven parts. This is the third Gonzalez title to be translated from the Spanish.

Justo L. González, author of the highly praised three-volume History of Christian Thought and other major works, attended United Seminary in Cuba, received his MA at Yale, and was the youngest person to be awarded a PhD in historical theology at Yale. He is one of the few first generation Latino theologians to come from a Protestant background. He helped to found the Association for Hispanic Theological Education and the Hispanic Theological Initiative. Dr González is now on the faculty of the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta.
Another fantastic commentary by Gonzalez. It's so good for me to move slowly through the Bible, pausing to notice details and make connections. Gonzalez is a master, and even though this was written for a Latin American audience, the cultural warnings and observations are fresh today in the US.
Although this book is called a Bible study, I think the title says it better: “Three Months with Revelation.“ I experienced it more as a devotional that added texture to the in-depth study I was pursuing, a nice adjunct to other resources I was using. Gonzalez spotlighted details I might have otherwise missed. They were enlightening and clarifying.
My goal was to follow a commentary from a Latin scholar and hear the Latin perspective on passages that are obscure or difficult.
I also liked the action steps he included. A little bit different than the usual, more social justice frequently.
The author highlights a couple of things in each chapter of Revelation, but I would be hard-pressed to understand that book in any profound from this volume.
I liked the format of 13 studies, with weekly and daily readings. Each short reading broke down into see/judge/act sections, which helped me think through practical applications of the truths I was learning. Very suitable for group Bible studies. A good entry-level study. Very readable and accessible.
